unren will do, put it in the game main directory (where the executable lies) and press "1" to unpack the archives.You'll get all the partial images stored as webp.
Make sure to use a newer unren version (I think 1.0.11 is current), since the folder structure to the runtime changed at some point.

yes, I can and ... depends if you only want what was in the original and nothing new.
It already contains new content, but the main story didn't reach the point of the original yet and it's unclear what parts of it ever will. The original contained two paths with Eric, this game will have a combined one. So it won't be the same story in the first place.

Personally I'd go for the discontinued version first, as it has a lot more content and also IS different from the rebuild, the two have parts in common, but are not the same game.
