Some unordered thoughts about this remake. Be aware that I spoiler at some points.
As it was mentioned before, the game is slow. Even on a multicore high end workstation with NVMe disks, the transitions are laggy. I have not experienced this in any other RenPy game.
The grinding has not improved. Waiting for weekends to progress the story turns down significantly.
I think it is a bug, that the game currently ends when one has framed Eric to the hacker "friend". At that point many routes were still open. So I went one save back and proceeded there in the other branches of the stories and left the wallet path open.
It is hardly possible to go in the game forward without cheating with money. How many week should one clean the pool and order groceries until one has the 1xxx$ to buy the camera equipment?
I still don't understand the progress of the regular events as watching TV and sunbathing. Unfortunately the progress in other paths like the blog is not reflected here. Why should Alice disagree on sex while watching TV, when she already did it in her own room. This does not make sense. This was already a problem of the original game. I am aware that story telling and game mechanics are very difficult, when parallel paths are open, that go into a similar direction.
It is good that one has the possibility to jump 2 and 4 hours. I would add the option of jumping days as well when this amount of grind should stay. As well it would help, if one could roll back as in most of the other games.
I understand that the author of the remake wants to be as close as possible to the original, but the grind was a pain point in the original version as well and I abandoned the game before I could reach the end.
A game should make fun and after the end, one should have a feeling that it was worth spending his life time in the game!!! When one gets to the point that it become boring then one should quit. And I am again at that point. I personally would not invest in this game, if the game mechanics (extreme high grind factor) stays as it is today.
Good is the improved walkthrough system. It helps a lot when crucial dates and remaining repetitions are mentioned. I missed this in the original one. But it takes ages until the screens appear, because of the lag in the game.
Good is the overview of the possible achievements, even that they somehow spoiler the story. A nice add on would be if there would be some kind of hit, how certain path could be opened. At the moment it is pure guessing.
