You didn't catch my point. I don't want to say that "every game needs a guy like Eric" i said that "Every game must be interesting". In this game Eric was a challenge, we should raise our spying skills for peeping, diplomacy for convincing, massage skills for decreasing Eric influens. And now for about 3-4 updates, we dont need any of this skills, we even cant loose.

TL;DR: Every game must be interesting, but BB lacking interest now isn't due to Eric being gone. And bringing in another "Eric" is just a lazy attempt at writing. The lack of interest is due to DS's neglect/inability to make any existing conflict more interesting.
You're right. Unfortunately, DS is unable to write the other challenges. Eric was the only challenge that he managed to incorporate into the game, even with its flaws. So when you only had one challenge in the game, and then it was removed without being replaced, it would only be natural that people associated the removal of Eric as removal of challenge/conflict in the game. Not because they love Eric, but because Eric was the only thing resembling any challenge in the game.
Yes, you're right. Just to be clear though, I wasn't accusing anyone of loving Eric. Nah. Whether they do or not wasn't the discussion. Eric having fans isn't an issue to me. Absolutely nothing and no one is stopping DS from making the current conflict stronger. He's the one stopping himself. Why? I don't have the answers. Eric was the first challenge, but by no means the only challenge available, and if DS thinks that's the case, might as well give the writing responsibility to a more competent writer, no offense to him.
He isn't stopping himself, he is simply incapable of doing it.
He doesn't gain anything by paying someone else to write a better story/game. People are still throwing money at him despite the game going downhill for the last 6 months. His goal is to make money, paying an extra writer only reduces his income because it's easier to make money by following what the top-tier patron wants. Better quality game doesn't necessarily mean more money for him.
The only reason I have a hard time believing that is because he was the one who came up with the new conflict after removing Eric in the first place. The new conflict was to help Ann pay bills. The result of this was rushing into porn movies and have Max ejaculate into a flask? Really? Why not progress the coffee shop opportunity and get somewhere meaningful with Vicky? It feels like he's taking the easy way out to avoid effort, but that's just me. He's a grown man whose been in game development for 10 years, or so he says. It's hard to see him being that incapable of finding simple scenarios to generate a challenge. Especially if those scenarios are common in real life. (Overdue bills, job hopping, etc)
