It becomes a little trickier when it comes to game developers. Its easy to see why there's this conflict of ideas, because patrons that support someone that makes drawings or youtube episodes are in fact supporting an artist. With game developers its harder to find the line, because peoples expectations are focused on the game.
Would you support Activision or the development of Call of Duty? Would you support EA or the development of Fifa? Would you support Valve or the development of Half-Life 3?

When BB promise romance I was all in but when it came out there will never be romance I stop support.
I was supporting @DarkSilver not BB.

We supporters, support artist that are making product that we like to play not the product being made.

actually what you just wrote IS supporting the PRODUCT , cause when you didn't get the Product you want to pay for (Romance) , you stopped paying the artist .. supporting the artist meaning you'd pay him No Matter What he makes, or even if he dosn't make anything :)

from what i read on his patreon page , he's not stopping BB cause he want's to , but cause of patreon site new rules not allowing games like BB anymore. but if that's the case, can't he just move his work to another similar site but without this rule? he can keep working on the game thire and people who supported him on patreon can still support him on the new site.

I think that the whole "supporting the artist" gimmick is more applicable to your traditional artists. Even as a dev, I don't consider myself an artist. Even though I may fit all of "criteria" of an artist, I consider myself the maker of a product. If I stopped making the product, I would expect my patrons to disperse. If I was making a product they didn't want, I would likewise expect them to reallocate their funds to projects they are interested in.

I wouldn't take it personally, that's just the nature of trade.

Now if I was doing a podcast or something that didn't have a well defined end product like a VN, then I think the gimmicky "Supporting the artist" thing still applies.

Same here. On the surface his new game didn't appeal to me. And his teaser shots of empty rooms didn't really tell me anything about the game expect what the backgrounds are going to look like.

That isn't to say I won't come back if his next project ends up being really good. But On the surface, It didn't fascinate me. I'll give a try down the line though and render an official opinion at that point though just to be fair.

Really at the end of the day, whether you are supporting the artist or the product, it's your money. You earned it. You spend it how you want and you don't have to justify it to anyone.

Some folks are gonna support the artist, some are going to support the product.

As much as myself and others give DS crap for the choices he made in making BB, in my mind only he can continue the game. Even with the exact same models and interface, I don't think anyone else could quite capture DS' unique style. It's not that I don't want to see tons of improvements in the way DS writes, or to see more explicit renders. But I want any new writing or renders I see to be consistent with what's come before in a way I think only DS can do. Otherwise it's just fan fiction at that point, if that makes sense.

Just because I like the product being made does not mean I am only supporting the product, I was supporting DS because of the romance that was being hinted at and once it was not included in the product DS lost my support for him.
You can support the person even though you like the product to.
Some like you only see the product and some like me sees the whole picture.

If you give Leonardo a yearly wage and tell him he can create whatever he wants, at the end of the year you may find that he has painted the Mona Lisa or you may find that he's made a painting of Christ submerged in a jar of piss. Either way you have supported the artist, and whether or not you like Mona or the Piss Christ, you continue to give Leo his yearly salary. You do that because you believe in art, and the artist. And whether or not you personally like the art work created you believe that art for the sake of art is important... that is supporting an artist.

What you are describing is LITERALLY supporting a product. You dont like it, so you stopped paying for it. Supporting an artist is not a matter of saying, "You go, you!" and cheering them on. (It is a form of support, but thats not what Patreon and sites like it are for.) Its like paying taxes when part of it goes to support "the arts"or the public library, you may not agree with the art but you feel that art in general should be encouraged. If you stop seeing Star Wars because you didnt like "Last Jedi", you are no longer supporting the Star Wars product. If you keep giving Disney money after you dont like Star Wars, THEN you are supporting the artist, not the product.

The models and interface are nothing that couldn't be replicated easily. But the way the characters speak and act are pretty distinct. They're definitely not perfect. The dialogue has a lot of translation issues, and the story isn't that great. But it's what we're used to. If someone else comes in, even if they write better than DS, the problem is that at that point it no longer feels like the original game. The characters may look the same, but they won't feel the same. For better or for worse, I grew attached to DS's version of Ann, and Alice, and Lisa.

Guys.....i stop playing this game since version 9......what new in 13. Did mc and anna had sex...if so can anybody upload a save file.....don't wanna start from beginning. TIA
