I have to disagree in part to this.
Every character in this game can be or does have a personality that the player sees when they play the game. Thats how this game goes, every player sees something else and will play it that way.
I see Max as a lovesick pervert who after trying to help his family to survive he became head over heels in love with Lisa.
For Alice he also love but not head over heels and for mom is more lust than love.
He has a love for his family and he also has romantic love with both sisters and wants romance with Lisa more than Alice.

If you cheat then yes it can seem that way but if you play the game without cheating then you will have a whole new experience from the game.
Using cheats you get what you want very fast but for me and not cheating It took a very long time to get to the end of the game.
Lisa GF path using jewelery Max was helping her get what she thought she wanted and it took well over 6 months of game days to come to start thinking of Max as a boyfriend.
By cheating you get to that point in less than 30 days and if you really push it in just just under 4 weeks.

I don't think she really liked Alex.
What I think is that she THOUGHT she liked him, but when she realized he was just a social climber douchebag her "love" for him was shattered.
That is no excuse for her eagerness to gobble on her brother's cock so quickly, though.

So? Still a rather short time.
Anyway, I get it's due to game mechanics and what not, it's just that I feel it shoud've been more explored, you don't really get the feeling of moral conflict an incestuous relation is prone to. It just feels like Lisa woke up one day and thought to herself:
"Hey... Imma suck on Max's dick from now on!"

I think you need to go replay the game without cheats. Without cheats it took me over 3 weeks to get Lisa to agree to being Max's GF after she dumped Alex.
Both Mentor and Schoolmate quest are linked and no HJ or BJ can be had until Lisa becomes Max's GF.

Oh, I'm not talking about gameplay speed. I also prefered to play without cheats initially. I like grind and feeling of an achievement. I'm talking about story and her character creation mostly in Olivia's path. It's the same speed with and without cheats and I find it weird. On Lisa's gf path her Date is similary out of character but I can't objectively judge as I find it all silly.
It wasn't like after 1 or max 2 weeks she dumped Alex she was with Olivia and Max? But even with 7 weeks storywise she dumped Alex and her very next talk with Olivia and Max was already about banging.
That's all our assumptions. I suspect Alex's role suppose to be much bigger initially but got ditched like E. and that's why this path is the weirdest in game. At least Olivia's kinda hot.

And I do know both opportunities are linked, I also have a save were I don't use cheats, that's the one I load everytime a new version comes out. Even when I'm using cheats I do only for things like money. Bah, I don't know why I'm explaining myself anyway.

Could be better though... Coud be much better.
But, as it's already stressed out enough here, it looks like DS had something entirely different planed for this game (what with Eric, Alex and Kate), but ended succumbing to the pressure and now he's stuck with a story he doesn't really know how to develop. I kinda feel for him, every update must be like walking on eggs.

Polls are useful in some situations, like getting new ideas or helping decide what to implement FIRST, but not to decide how the story should progress.
You should write a story you're confortable with.
