So what are the conditions needed to continue with Cunning Plan after mom starts giving you HJs? I've been at that stage for a while, and the walkthrough states that it should become available once you've started New Job, but I've done just past the second photo shoot and still nothing.

I have not gotten to were Lisa gives Max HJs for homework but I am on the lisa path and Kyra talked to us once. did I do something wrong at some point? I used Olivia to oust Erik did taking that path end that and then why am I still working out with mom twice a week for no actual benefit. I think I'm all messed up in the game its a lot of grind and no content right now. btw Max just finished practice for the porn movie with mom is there more beyond this point in this version?

Make sure Lisa's mood is high because this is what stops most of mentor stoppage in the 2 Lisa GF paths.
So Kira came at night and just talked "to make sure Lisa is for it".
If so she should have been back withing 3 days after the first talk about it.
Upload a copy of this save game and I will take a look at it.
Can this game be played without a walkthrough? Can you mess it up if you aren't present at the right place at the right time? I seem to get that impression, compared to most Ren'py games which takes less of an effort.

As far as I can tell you can not skip quest, only way to lose is 2 ways.
3 family members with over 50% in Eric influence and not paying the money to Eric on time, either the 300 a week on Mondays (to be safe) or the 1000 to pay him off.
The only way to keep from trigging Eric say Max stoled his wallet is to keep less than 500 in Max's pocket for 1 click of the hour clock. Keep less than 450 and you are safe for as long as you want to play and build up Max's website to support himself on.
Just remember some trigger convo's must be listen to from the NPC's otherwise you will not know what to do.

I see people talking about 2 different GF paths with Lisa - I've only ever seen one I think? Which 2 are there?
Also is the Olivia route fun? I am getting a wee bit tired of Lisa (mostly the inconsistency of the dialogue and behaviour).

The second Lisa's path is the jewelry path. At least I didn't find any differences. It has the same outcomes as the 1st one, but more expensive.
Olivia's path is also great, but it has less content than Lisa's path. I personally like that girl. Hope it will be continued in 0.9.

For me is great, just only thing that is we don't know when it will be updated so that we can proceed with mentor path.
