I do really hope Bones is doing good during pandemic, and hes fine and not having any personal issue that makes him delay the game, but he used to update frequently before patreon incest thing... after that was finished he made even more money per month.... and when all that begun he even said that "becuase of patreon thing im not getting enough money to continue"
Now he has it, he has even more than before, even if he is having a personal issues.... what personal issue is taking him 2 years to fix and not even say a word? and about the pandemic, ive been working from home this whole pandemic, earning 500$ a month in south america... Thats a lot of money and really has been a bleesing for me this whole pandemic thing.
They guy is earning around 3k dollars a month IN CHILE, he is working from home, does he have any money need that cant be solved from home or that could make him slow down his FULL TIME JOB (as he said in patreon/subscriberstar) that The manor become to him?
If you think in one reason that is slowing him down besides of course, streching updates time just to earn more money i would like to hear it.
I know hes not even giving us his 25% on this for what he is earning out of this, and he used to give us his 100% when he was not earning that much.... I would like to see him comeback to that, might that be that difficult with 3k per month support?
Still ill come around every now and then just to see is this becomes another yanderedev 10 years of developing a 20% of a game
Loss of motivation, maybe ? A two year pandemic is a rough thing to do, and if the guy lives in Chile, the pandemic might not have been handled there as well as other countries (I have no clue what they did there). I'm in one of the luckier countries and still we've seen the amount of people falling into depression skyrocket since last year. So when you're already affected by that, getting smashed by Patreon with the incest thing is bound to worsen the blow.
By then, workflow slows to a crawl and you can easily start to blame yourself for not being able to work as well as before and not deliver as much content. But outright admitting it is pretty hard as well when you're that deep in the hole. It's human nature to find it easier to just think you'll get better soon and procrastinate on that. Sure it's not great for people backing but depression tends to make you subconsciously avoid thinking about consequences.
Of course, this is all just a theory, it's not like I know the guy. He could just as well have lost someone and not been able to deal well with the aftermath (though I sincerely hope that's not the case).
But you asked if I could figure out any reason, and that's one that came to mind.
I could also be totally wrong and the guy could be an asshole leeching money from people's wishfull support, but those types of devs tend to not be subtle about it for long and start flooding with false promises, WIP scene artworks that never amount to anything, etc... Radio silence is most often a sign that something else is going on, but we can't really know why since that's the dev's personnal life. And as I stated on another thread, nobody, not even backers, no matter the amount of money they throw at a dev, is entitled to get details about a dev's personal life. It's called personal for a reason, so it's always up to the dev if they want to share that or not.
All we really can do is hope we'll get some reaction at some point and avoid thrashing his reputation.
Because people are quick to judge and latch onto misinformation, but really don't like admitting they were wrong. Happened multiple times over the years. So if it ends up that the Doc had big issues and he finally comes out of his silence, but a few morons destroyed his reputation so that nobody supports him anymore, he'd just probably stop everything. Because at that point, no matter the amount of explaination, damage would already be done.
If you want a good example of that type of damage, I can give you one in private message (I'm
not about to open that can of worms in public, not with the mentality I've seen around those forums). But yeah, better be the mature and sensible one that wreck someone else's shit an pretend it's deserved while you know nothing. If people backing him get tired of waiting, they'll stop on their own. It's not like they're held at gunpoint to keep paying. If they chose to keep paying and it ends up that he actually was taking advantage of it, that's on them for chosing to keep paying.
