How do you even start this game? Every guide says to go and buy stuff but every save I start with 0!
You used to start with some money, but that was taken away with the big update. Talk to Fern in front of your house and she'll give you some money for some of your own fluids.

Meaning we can't get into the meat of the game for days after we begin.
I don't like that change; I would have liked Fern to stay as an option.

How do you even raise world level now? Can't get the traits I need for a progression quest because I can't seem to increase world level in any way, even the cheat doesn't work.

with cheats you would use : infinite lust and always reproduce, uncheck pregnancy in the setting, breed your two nephelym and instead of keeping the new nephelym in your barns, release them in the wild, eventually you'll get level 5 even if you can't see it. If one of them has Valuable it help getting other traits and the one that you're looking for

got the tool, how do i edit the traits
First, you'll need to load your file into the editor. Your last played one should already be in the text box at the top.
If not, hit the dropdown arrow and select the one you want to edit. Now hit the Load button.
Now the options on the left should expand a bit. You want "Character Edit".
In the Character box, there'll be another dropdown arrow so you can pick the one you want to edit.
Expand the "Traits" section and just pick the ones you want to add, and yes, you can select Trait Levels too.
(Some people have issues with being unable to get "Slender" to work, though)
Once you're done editing your character, hit Apply (if there are any red entries, jiggle the mouse up and down until they go away) then Save. As long as the Editor says "Save Succeeded" then it's good to go.
Don't select contradicting traits (such as two different body types) as the game will crash faster than usual.
Load back into the game and load the edited save. As long as everything happened correctly, it should at the very least load into the game.
