Of course I expected things to malfunction, not to stop working at all. Specially when I'm forced to use that method to use older saves cause the damn dev keeps forcing old saves to not load on newer game versions after each 4-5 hotfixes. Which let me tell you. This is the only game that forces me to do shit like this. Any other game I play on version 0.1, make a save, then stop playing for months, one day I boot that 0.1 save on version 0.6 and the file loads perfectly. BotN however? You make a save on version 0.61, and when you try to load it on version 0.61.3, released a pair of weeks after and suddenly the game doesn't load that file. In a save that you may have spent hours playing and grinding stuff. IDK about you but I don't have the time to keep starting again from scratch EVERY SINGLE TIME the dev updates the fukin game in order to have my save files to load.

Specially when the absurdity of saving the game on version 0.2 and loading it on version 0.3 doesn't work. But saving it on version 0.3 DOES load on 0.2. It's like, sure.... Skyrim Special Edition save files naturally load on Legendary Edition (Which is older, amd with less stuff) but Legendary Edition saves won't load on Special Edition being newer?

As well as many "variants" of color in characters. Firstly because they "had similarities" with others.


The "underworld" version does not have the wolf because it was removed, but the cat, fox and the bee. Maybe others.

The cow has many, the "galaxy" version "Halloween" " LuckyS" " JeanneCorrupted" and the ones that refer to Ice Cream "MntChiciChip" and "Mocha" .... Hell "NinthCircle" "Underworld"




The only one I liked but never found was the Rabbit with the "Mirko" texture.



Also the deletion of characters or replace.
Actually, I don't remember which version I played but I remember that I could find in "God Mode" but it's a long time ago. When the cheats were not so different from the current ones.

I reinstalled the game with updated version. I still had the thumbnail picture of where I was in the story in a dialog, but opening it sent me to another part of the story xd

Similar to Carnal Instinct, the update that says 4. is a part where the "magic" is not yet fully developed, because they didn't introduce it xd
But the current version, if it has that... also the change of the space where is your potions, life bar and stamina...

It only varies the fact of putting boobs, there is not much difference between the scenes of Futas or Man.

Well, for better or for worse... they are only less species that are men. The game itself gives you the explanation of "Sugar walls before balls" to sum it up.

The game has had many changes and I don't think they are going to put balls xddd. they eliminated several male variants.

I think you got the wrong impression of what I did. I didn't modified a game version from one that was THAT old lmao

Like, I know that BotN changed a lot but the version I changed it from was from 07569 to 076152, which I think are roughly about 10 hotfixes between each other as much. Game barely changed if at all between those.

Also. HOLY FUCK. I never saw those male versions in BotN before. I had seen the dude NPC in one of the oldest but never faced the fukin Lamias outside of the portal's warden.

DAMN! Is kinda sad to see how downhill the game has gotten ever since. Sure, some things got better like changing part of the turn basedness of the OG builds to the current system (I kinda miss the spam click mechanic tho) but still....

Yeah, this is quite sad I'll say. I'm not into masculine males, more like into femboys as long as they're ultra girly but damn! Some of those males look amazing. Like.... Why? Why removing them? I managed to modify some Nephelym information using hex edit (race, gender, traits) thanks to a useful comments that some people posted here some time ago. I wasn't too keen on downloading and executing BOTNTools because of the virus flag (even if it might very well be a false positive), so I decided to make my own simple tool for editing save files.

You can browse through your list of Nephelyms (including the breeder) and modify their race, gender and traits.

I made this tool in Python, so I provide the python script files for people that don't want to execute random exe files on the internet or prefer to use the scripts themselves. You'll need to execute botn_m.py using a relatively moden version of Python. For people who don't care, I also provide the tool compiled into a single .exe which doesn't need Python or any other dependency.

For the sake of completeness, I will briefly describe how to edit files using this tool. You'll first see the following UI when starting the application:

Go to "File->open save" and select the save you want to edit. After the tool has finished processing the save, it will display the list of Nephelyms. By selecting them, you can see their information in the respective fields. You can see my save as en example:

Note: you can see that I have some random Nephelym with the human breeder class. This is because I was previously messing around with the save files. Fun fact, you can actually swap almost all races to the human breeder class (except Mares for some reason), some of them looking better than others.

Traits are displayed in the big text field, one line per trait in save order. If we want to modify this Nephelym, we need to click "Modify". After that, we can edit anything but the name of the Nephelym. Before we can actually write to the save file, we need to press "Verify". This transforms any understandable keywords into the respective strings that the game recognizes (e.g. hominal is converted to Trait.Form.Hominal) and performs checks so that no erroneus information is written into the save. In my case, I modified the previous Nephelym with the following data:

After that, we can click "Apply changes" and it will overwrite the opened save file with the following modifications. By default, the tool will perform backups of save files every 2h (meaning it will perform a backup if it detects that the last backup was done over 2h ago), but you can disable/change the time interval in "File->Options".

Note that while traits are generally pretty safe to modify and tweak, modifying gender and sometimes the race of some Nephelyms might result in crashes due to some incompatiblity of the shape and model data. For example, I have observed that changing Futa to Female and viceversa is generally safe (since they are basically identical other than the penis), but changing to Male just doesn't work. Additionally, changing the MC to a big size can be problematic when performing wild sex, as the game gets stuck in the interaction (but strangely enough it seems okay during breeding sessions?).

Finally, while I tried to make the tool as robust as possible, note that it is something that I coded in a week during my spare time. I suggest you make your own backups before starting to edit in case something unexpected happens in the long run.

I haven't found any, fix that is. Don't have your specific bug, mine is if I set my Nephs as a vagrant I can no longer interact with her at all.
The only solution I could find was to just play my old save on the old version and start over on the new one with cheats. I was able to semi-recover 25% of my stuff within an hour or so.....but I really don't like the remade systems in the new version so I might just stick with the old version until significant additions are made.

Understand dummies. Your game saves have data that the current game was deleted or simply removed.

It's like if someone played the early versions when the necklaces existed, or tried to take their dragons from current versions to play the older version with something recent. There will be no such data or it will be corrupted.
I repeat, see only the things that were removed and that's it. There is no science

You can take out a character with "incest" traits. That decreases all his stats. That for new versions. It no longer has it.
(This change was made in June 2021). and it is likely that you will end up with defects or that the "data" will simply not agree with each other

But even if for some fukedup miracle it does, still, on top of everything, it just doesn't make it worth it to spend time on this game if I know I'm gonna get stuck on the same version forever in order to keep playing, on a game that doesn't have mod support of any kind where the most I can do is make custom girls for it, and even those have the risk to become useless the next update.

Unless somehow the game officially became dead so the possible mod makers would have the same consistent version to start messing around with the game's engine and code to create mods to add or modify stuff.

The big/massive problem I keep seeing with BotN is that on one hand, each x amount of updates fuks up the compatibility of the previous saves, ruining the progress you had made in any previous versions, including any done in the very previous update version to the XYZ one. And then on the other, there's pretty much zero mod support, so there's no good reason to be stuck on the same version since you'll be on an outdated one with no other gain other than keep playing the game with the progress you had made on the previous which can be super enraging.

I'm certain that if this game had mods this wouldn't be an issue at all. Look at a game like Hunted on Eclipse 9 for example. Is quite the unknown game, yet there's a mod for it where you can make the camera to free fly, to trigger some specific sex interactions or modify certain modifiers like freezing the arousal meter. It's quite basic but it opens quite the possibilities. And I know the engines are different but just to give an example. HoE9 is almost unknown here while BotN had even reviewed by Sseth on Youtube (how he managed to do that while still being monetized is beyond me XD).

They changed the UI, changed how stats worked, changed how capturing worked (with backlash), changed world system into essence system (with even more backlash) changed how visual traits worked, etc. And besides some of the UI changes, none of it improved the game (though the visual traits thing is interesting).

So there's plenty of good reasons, for now, to stick to the outdated version instead of upgrading to the new one in this game's case.

The old stuff and the new stuff are different. You can't bring with you a game from a long time ago and want to play without producing a bug with the current game.

At least in my case, I'm not a min-mix type of person so:
Hedonist - Don't care.
Influential - Actually I like that one, makes it easier to get the child you want.
Stoic - Lack of care.
Motherly - Makes things faster, only I are devoid of care.

Awesome. That makes things easier to give certain traits to offspring.

Tits with nipples that describe a Neph with bigger than normal tits? Still in the game just changed how it looks.
An ass with a thong that use to describe a Neph has a bigger butt than normal? Changed to a side view, probably because males could get that trait too.

There are many changes, minuscule and that nobody wants.....which is my point. Like. ENTIRE point. Most I can live with, but the essence system and how to increase the lvl is the biggest that's just really anti-player. It adds more grind to the game without adding substance. That be the bad.

Grungy is gone, happy day.....but there was a way to get rid of it anyway so moot point.
Sterile and abomination are gone, except they aren't. Just you can't access them normally.
Gaudy is gone which doesn't matter cause it didn't show a difference anyway.
Atypical is gone as a trait but still visually in the game.
Valuable hurts.....that made it easier to lvl up traits to wild nephs.

Overall, there's no REAL reason to play the updated version of the game. The bad changes outweigh the few good ones. If they go back to the world system or fix the essence system to not be as pointlessly grindy, sure. But until then, you're better off just playing 0.756.9. The UI changes are nice, except the fact you can't see your own stats.

At least in my case, I'm not a min-mix type of person so:
Hedonist - Don't care.
Influential - Actually I like that one, makes it easier to get the child you want.
Stoic - Lack of care.
Motherly - Makes things faster, only I are devoid of care.

Awesome. That makes things easier to give certain traits to offspring.

Tits with nipples that describe a Neph with bigger than normal tits? Still in the game just changed how it looks.
An ass with a thong that use to describe a Neph has a bigger butt than normal? Changed to a side view, probably because males could get that trait too.

There are many changes, minuscule and that nobody wants.....which is my point. Like. ENTIRE point. Most I can live with, but the essence system and how to increase the lvl is the biggest that's just really anti-player. It adds more grind to the game without adding substance. That be the bad.

Grungy is gone, happy day.....but there was a way to get rid of it anyway so moot point.
Sterile and abomination are gone, except they aren't. Just you can't access them normally.
Gaudy is gone which doesn't matter cause it didn't show a difference anyway.
Atypical is gone as a trait but still visually in the game.
Valuable hurts.....that made it easier to lvl up traits to wild nephs.

Overall, there's no REAL reason to play the updated version of the game. The bad changes outweigh the few good ones. If they go back to the world system or fix the essence system to not be as pointlessly grindy, sure. But until then, you're better off just playing 0.756.9. The UI changes are nice, except the fact you can't see your own stats.
