Breeding games fail because devs don't understand just how many possible combinations of breeds will require unique art. Devs don't spend enough time planning and then get snookered by the amount of art they will need to make/buy. It's relatively easy to write code to get two breeds to mate, and once you have that code you can copy it and just replace the breeds. But the artist has to make each instance a unique scene or else the players get grumpy.

If you have 2 breeds you only need 3 scenes (AA, AB, BB). If you have 6 characters it jumps to 21 scenes. A handy illustration:

They Fail, because making the story is hard, for example given how the "pregnancy/impregnation" is a "late game" event, and storries tend to be written with that in mind. For breeding games, that has to begin at the start of the game, and writing such plots is likely somewhat more difficult, as you are now faced with a problem of "where do we go from here". This is also coupled with the fact, that unlike other games, where you progressively unlock better and spicyer scenes, or have to work for it in some way, breeding type games give you that at the very begining. This combined with the many, many MANY possible combinations of scenes/art nececary (as was mentioned by the previous user), i'd say is the reason.

There are 3 main issues with breeding games that if you get one wrong normally you are screwed.

1. Is as mentioned by multiple others that the more species you add the more scenes need to be created between the different combinations. This scales at an insane rate. The best way I have seen this handled is either using 3D models so you are just reusing animations and having it render in real time or using 2D models having a limited number of species to make a manageable number of sprites.

2. How does your game progress? This is a general game design question but specifically with breeding games most have no clear direction. The easy answer usually is just adding in more units or traits but that more so an answer to how the game scales difficulty not how the player progresses.

Normally progression is tied with unlocking new features and/or plot progression. Using this game as an example unlocking the wolf form could have been a feature unlock if it was anything more than ascetic. The story with the different main females could have been a decent version of plot progression, but currently they seem mostly detached from the main gameplay. We also have not been given any actual goal although that seems to be changing with the development of the princesses' story.

3. Ties in with both previous points but still stands out on it's own. What is the use of your units? This is a breeding game the very concept is that you are creating units. Other than selling them and breeding them they do nothing. Last I checked selling orders stopped after a certain point so that is a massive issue on continuing a run. The animations aren't bad but they do become repetitive also limiting that usecase as well.

There are a few paths I can see these unit's being used successfully with these games. The first is the management style route where you just continue selling creatures having specific financial/milestones with a clear goal. The second is that you use units for more than just breeding or selling (automation, side projects, combat are versions I have seen in other games). The Final option off the top of my head is to use them as plot progression pieces which is mostly connected to the previous 2 but can also include having certain traits/species being bred unlocking story events/quests and characters.

This is why you should THINK before doing a game base on breeds making sex. Devs like to "No Mans Sky" their way, to promisse things they didnt even think about before.

If you have 2 breeds you only need 3 scenes (AA, AB, BB). If you have 6 characters it jumps to 21 scenes.

It's actually worse: you'll need 2²=4 and 6²=36 scenes respectively. That's because you can't simply reuse AB scenes for BA couples (for example catboy x wolfgirl and wolfman x catgirl are different). And the game in question has special scenes for Ceci and the main character, and they're both bi, so they also count as their own races.

If I were to think on a way to make it viable, I'd probably have only the MC and/or Ceci to have unique scenes. At the start monster x monster would simply have no scene, and then if my resources allow it I'd use paperdolls (non-unique scenes) for them. This way the amount of assets scales linearly with the amount of races, not quadratically.

im gonna be honest, im not much of a fan of most breeding games, because they focus the art too much on the monster pairings, as opposed to the mc+monster girl.

the biggest irony is, they could easily do something like a monster rancher, but with monster girls. add to that some slave maker mechanics and diferent focus, like raising/training monster girls to sell with specific abilities.

you could even do 3 type of stats, sexual, combat, general. sexual is the usual sex training, combat is also the usual normal stats used during combat, and general are stuff like social skills, personality, submission/domination. that kind of thing.

make it so you can unlock more and more stuff as you progress, like a bigger pen to raise more than 1 monster girl at a time, or even, a harem house, to keep your favorites.

that's not a bad idea, you could even do sex as the MC absorbing monster energy, while mating is transfering those energies to the new born monstergirl.

the MC would need a max for each stat, that can be raised either by training, or by having sex with certain races. and each monster would have a certain amount they could transfer to the MC, something like a "monster energy". that is drained when they have sex. but regenerates every few days.

this would give the player some raising strategies, and with a monster board, for selling monstergirls with specific stats. or raising, monster girls, with better quality produce.

you could have diferent special abilities, like for example, one that raise the quality of their produce, but diminish the monster energy regen rate. or another that gives a large boost, but does not produce anything.


there's so much potential, but people keep trying to remake breeding farm, and failing because they dont understand why breeding farm failed.

   With that out of the way, we can begin to talk about some key background information that has led us to this point: ● Team Bieno was initially formed as a one-man development team by a one-man dev team, consisting solely of GZone. "Amity Park" was the first game created by GZone, with its initial build debuting some time back in mid-2017. That means Amity Park is nearly 7 years old at this point. ● Sometime in the summer of 2018, a fan by the name of Morah approached GZone over Patreon and suggested that they find somebody to proofread some of Amity Park’s scripts, as GZone’s native language was not English. GZone asked Morah to contribute his own skills as a script consultant, and the first collaborative effort was made. ● After two decently enough produced updates with Morah’s new scripts, Lostraven was asked by Morah to take over as head writer for the now budding team. Epadder was then brought on to contribute and assist with coding and posing. Following that, artists such as Frame, Psymind, and Julioaruka were brought on board to contribute to both Amity Park and the second game created by the team, “Breeding Farm”. ● Breeding Farm was created because GZone said that he wanted to have some more creative variety in his work, and felt that doing a parody game of an existing IP was becoming overly familiar for his liking. At the time, this seemed to be a good idea in order to shake off any creative funk that might have developed over working on the same exact project for almost a year and a half. ● Around the time of Breeding Farm’s first publication in August of 2019, GZone made the decision to create a “studio name” for the games that this particular team was developing. He called it “Team Bieno” as “Bieno” means “Farm” in Esperanto, an auxiliary language familiar to GZone.

   We think it’s fair to say that the stretches of time where development on Amity Park can be traced back to the creation of Breeding Farm, and the two games never properly were managed properly enough to coexist together. Where some might have focused on only one game at a time, or have alternating work orders for one game per update, Team Bieno was trying to work on both projects simultaneously. This caused a lot of issues with communication, not having certain aspects of game development ready for other members to take part in, and generally losing some of the momentum Amity Park was developing for itself. Breeding Farm should have in no way been a burdensome distraction, but it might certainly have benefited the team and the fans to have had better resource management and tighter deadlines. That all being said, what can or should happen from here? That’s what the remainder of the staff has already met, discussed, deliberated and tried to narrow down. These are some of the following concessions/agreements made by the team.
   1. The remaining staff of Team Bieno have decided to give GZone a three-month grace period to return any of our messages, starting at his last appearance on Feb. 13th. Therefore, GZone has until May 13th 2024 to reemerge via email, Discord, voice call, or any suitable method to prove he is active and accessible.
   2. In the event that GZone does not return within that given deadline, the remaining staff members will officially take action to begin work on future projects without GZone’s involvement. (The staff has narrowed down one main idea that we feel will best serve the needs of the team and interest at least the majority of Team Bieno’s following, but will not openly disclose that until the deadline has passed.)

That is one possibility, he could also have died, been imprisoned, long term hospitalization, forced to leave his home or really any number of things.

There is no current information avalible and the team has not heard from them since 2/13/24. That is all that can be said. We will learn about what will happen from now by at latest June.
