Are they sluts getting knocked up by monsters?) while "Breeding Village! Go impregnate a bunch of wives because you are an stud in a country with few virile males! This is your harem breeding village!" tells you exactly what is about and makes it more likely to get noticed and sell.

Thanks for the explanation. I'd assumed it was something to do with the language and being able to fit entire words into a single character. Turns out it's much more pragmatic than that. (the Japanese name on vndb looks just as painfully long)

Yeah, the market is just too saturated so the devs have to find a way to stand out or catch your attention when "window shopping". Tags as of late are pretty important too so its also on their interest to tag it well so it can be easily found.
Though i do suspect some others do it for the heck of it since even companies with brand recognition employ it.
