Do we know if that is like a 'new' release, with new images and scenes, or more like a fully completed part 1 of the game - bug free, maybe a few enhancements here and there? I always thought that the last update wrapped up part 1 and any new update would be part 2 of the story.

AFAIK...
The version released yesterday is the Steam-compliant version of Part One, with all the graphic reworks, made from the beginning.

The version you already have is a backward-compliant version, without the mods required by Steam.
I'm not sure you need a "normal" hero for this to be useful, at this point.

The last two months have been intense. I’ve been pushing hard to finish Part 1 and also working on the first chapter of Part 2 of Burning Boundaries.

On Tuesday, 18.11.2025, I’ll be sharing the final Part 1 build for testing with Patrons over on Discord (in the behind-the-scenes section), before submitting the final version to Steam for approval.

Official release of Part 1 and Chapter 1 of Part 2 is planned for 25 December 2025 on Steam and Patreon.

Steam Approval Process
Steam’s approval pipeline has around five major stages, and I’ve already made it through four. I originally planned to release the game on Steam much earlier — back in August as part of the Early Access program — but Steam has since abolished Early Access for NSFW titles, which forced me to change the entire release plan.

Now I’m standing at the finish line, waiting for the final green light — which should (hopefully!) arrive soon after I submit this last build. ✨

By the way, I’ve spent far more hours than expected dealing with the whole Steam onboarding as a publisher:

• setting up the store page & trailer
• navigating Steamworks
• configuring achievements & cloud saves
• endless tax forms
• endless surveys, compliance checks, back-and-forth messages…

And as if that wasn’t enough, Steam has been constantly changing the rules for NSFW games, dropping new “clarifications” almost every other day about what is or isn’t allowed.

Honestly?
I now understand why so many devs work with a publisher. Handling all this alone is practically a full-time job.

Short Vacation & Paused Billing
Once I made it through all the Steam paperwork, I took a short two-week vacation with my family — something I’d promised them a long time ago.

This is also why I paused October billing, as some of you noticed.

New DRM System (Digital Rights Management)
Together with a very close friend of mine — an expert in security protocols — we’ve been building a new DRM system, which actually required modifying parts of Ren’Py itself.

Early tests show massive improvements in loading and processing times compared to the legacy version. ⚙

We plan to roll it out in December 2025.

Here’s how it will work:

• DRM will be used only for Patreon releases of Part 2,
• Patrons can finally enjoy real exclusive early access for one month,
• Improved performance,
• Once the next version is released, DRM will be removed from the previous one,
• Starting next year, I plan to release a new version every month,
• DRM will not be included in the final Steam version,
• After just one online activation, offline gaming will be possible.

this seems fine to me, i don't care when the game is free, like if its free eventually, especially 1 month later? cool.

i actually prefer people stop leaking bugged versions of alphas, which just makes me run into a bug and wastes my time and then im doing free bug testing for the dev? except they dont even need or want my input usually and have their own testers anyway.

In my opinion will be a fully completed chapter one of the game we already have, maybe with new images to "setup" chapter two; at Christmas we will see the entire story update. Byez

I mean there won't be any new content and missing content since Steam obviously won't allow some things. What is coming to Steam is here more than likely in a less "censored" state.

From that point afterwards the game will have DRM which means you will have to pay for it or wait for someone to bypass/crack it (which always happens).

Yeah, the Part One listed here has the most content, and includes stuff that the Steam version won't. Agreed.

But, from that point on, the version on Steam (Part 2 releases) will not have DRM, hence me saying to just wait for those, or the "delayed" Patreon releases without DRM.

Nope... Steam version of part 1 have 50+ new videos & 200+ new renders. It has both new content and re-made older content which I didn't include yet cause I was saving it for Steam release. It also has some scenes re-made.

If DRM will be implemented, I doubt somebody will waste time on it... breaking VM obf, kerner-level locks, anti-debugging and dynamic code mutation every month is just too much for small insignificant porn game... you all just wait a month each release and that's it.

Part 2 will not be out on Steam for a long time, and who knows if Steam will pull the plug last second, they have on many games in the last couple of months after they've been approved. A couple were not even adult games but just had a girl standing and showing her backside clothed and Steam rejected the game (yes, I am being serious, hopefully the people at Steam who did it got fired as they reversed it after it got attention). Steam is also banning games that Nintendo (fucking Nintendo of all companies) have no issues with.

Someone will, they always do, people like a challenge (there are worse games out there with better DRM but people still cracked them anyway), there are plenty of games on here that have "sophisticated" measures and have been cracked and/or bypassed.

Lately… I know more games that haven’t been cracked than ones that have, even here on F95. Inceton's DRM was like 1/10, so don't even mention him, focus on those who have not been cracked yet. You know things are getting bad when, instead of cracking, pirates just move to bypassing or sharing offline activations.

And hey—while it’s flattering that you’re comparing me to AAA games, you’re forgetting something: a small porn game doesn’t get nearly as much attention as a big AAA title. There’s just not enough interest for skilled crackers to spend time on it. But who knows… we’ll see.

Honestly, I’d love it if someone tried cracking it — spent a whole month on it — only to realize the game is already free… and then had to start all over again.
