you don't really need it - within the new content, there are just 2 choices, and both of them are self explaining.

just click through the "save here, this is the end of content" screens i was confused too but the new content starts after that. i think dev forgot to take that out.

nope. the dev added variables to keep record of your answers, to be able to use these answers in possible future decisions or paths. now your choices don't matter, but they could matter in the future this way. due to these new variables, old saves are not compatible
