So, fascinating bug I found, if you roll back before getting Hypnosis training from Cassidy and try to replay, she gets suspicious and leaves.

That locks you out of Hypnosis Training to increase world corruption and for every other thing you need it for.

Worst part, it's persistent between saves and I have no clue on how to fix this. Did not only kill the play through, but the entire game. Actually impressive.

Would you believe if we said that's not a bug and has been highlighted several times and it doesn't get fixed, so it is probably meant to be that way?
When this happens to me it is usually resolved by completing a cycle to reset all variables.

Because, as I have alluded to, the issue has somehow crept between runs and installations of the game and I have no clue on how that's even possible with the way Ren'Py saves data. Data, not even variables.

That's why I said it's actually impressive. I went so far as to remove the persistent data, redo the save and re-download the game. But this the second of only two times a variable related problem has me grasping for straws. At this point I'm tempted to kick off the OS.

Something like this has happened before, in the long long ago...

The source is the renpy stack, where the game attempts a call before it finishes loading and the return data gets messed up. This creates a phantom return point that the game will attempt to return to whenever it finishes loading. I thought I had removed all chances of that from the game as it is obviously not working as intended.
It's kind of the dirty secret renpy doesn't want you to know about. This return point is baked into your save file and theoretically it is repairable. If you want to DM me your save I will see what I can do... but no promises. This is the black magic or renpy here.

This game is pretty fun, and insanely ambitious. That said, I might be too stupid to play it properly.

I feel like I am not 'exploring' properly. It never does anything. Except Cassidy's room. That does something. Not sure what, yet. But it definitely does something.

Okay, I thought about it for a while and it seems that the issue was something related on my end.
I run a bootleg shadowcopy service on my machine using an externally mounted NAT. This works in a similar way the windows server version does, by making copies of files. These are raw copies and not restoration points and since I have 5TB external storage available, I simply designated my entire 500GB main drive for duplication, meaning I can run a full restoration pretty quickly.

Here's my theory: since that counts as a mounted disk and the stack got copied along with it, it seems Ren'py got confused about it's own state.

Stopped the service, unmounted the disk, ran another clean up, works now.

TIL: Ren'py gets easily confused and it doesn't help what you're doing with the flags here is pushing the limits of the engine. It's pretty amazing though.

I was quite adamant about that, as well as a specific breast expansion tag, with the mod team when things were being reworked. But they judged it to be superfluous as you could "create the same effect by combining other tags"... I pointed out that "big tits", "Body modification" and "extreme proportions" could theoretically mean someone has breasts grow to be best measured in astronomical units... it could also mean that there is a token D cup, the player has a huge dick and a third character gets a nose piercing. They were unmoved by my sensible argument.

thats why they need to add tags to be added by the community. one person shouldnt just be able to tag it. if multiple people put the same thing down for a tag though it should put it up there. (and ofc let the original poster be able to add their own tags without needing multiple people)

Decided to just do it real quick. Did quite a bit of testing. Should do what you asked for: Haily refers to Bess as Mom now.

Holy shit you are the man. Copied it to a note.txt, put it into the game folder, bam. Worked perfectly. Maybe learning how to do this myself isn't outside my reach afterall.

I used a similar argument regarding the "Transformation" tag being used for gender swapping games, when a tag called "Gender swap" would be more clear and precise, but they didn't buy it.
