Unfortunately no.

I have marked the game as abandoned.

TLDR : As of August 1, 2024 I will officially announce that I abandon Captain Lance. Many of you were already expecting this news but not the reasons why. If you only read the TLDR, that's all you need to know but I will describe most of what is going on. The Discord will be closed after a week, August 8, you will no longer be able to post in the channels.

owever this feeling stopped when a new game was released in the same genre (whilst I do know what game this is, I will not mention it, nor will I ever speak about it again) and seeing the immense, exponentially bigger audience and even maybe financial success, I have fallen back to the abyss.

Eruption Imminent, maybe?
It's not sci-fi but deals with a returning sibling for which the MC has feelings—very good quality.

The only other games in the sci-fi space I can think of are Starship Innana, which has been abandoned for a long time, and Toro 7, which is more recent.

Yeah, maybe EI. If he aimed for something like that, I am really looking forward to the story here. EI and Toro 7 both have amazing writing.

Every time i see a sci-fi game here i start searching for the mass effect comment, i can't believe it's the very first one lmao. I don't get why people keep making the same joke, the only thing in common mass effect has with this game is space. It's like comparing every zombie game to minecraft. I'm glad ME is so famous that people keep thinking about it though, not so glad that they keep linking it to porn games just because it has one sex scene in it, which btw is the most romantic and artistic, and least horny sex scene i've ever seen in any media.

No they are 100% correct with Mass Effect analogy. There are certain dialogues directly referencing ME. Look even my comment says it in code!
Mass Effect was highly inspiring in every single aspect of the game. But I tried to deviate enough.

There is nothing anyone can offer me to continue to game. Even if I receive $1M I'd find people to develop for me whilst I reamin an advisor or something similar.

Seems so, best you read the devs post then why he stopped developing this VN. It is really a bummer. But it is his decision after all.
