HTML - Abandoned - Casting Director [v0.041 Alpha] [Old Dirty Dog]

great narration , well thoughts background story and the character of the MC, really interesting ideas thrown at the plot and at the every aspect of the game, you can actually see efforts by the developer to make everything interesting, and there is a casual mode if you into that kinda thing, will definitely watch this one closely, good stuff!

This game is just so good.

It has a perfect balance between little grind, with great missions in between and constant new "rewards" for the mc.

The story is just great. You can play corrupt as fuq or a good guy. Both is possible with alternating rewards and scenes.

But for me the best thing is: You cast random people with random ethics and such and according to these random things, the pics and gifs alter and are according to the race and "hair colour" of the woman you cast. These details are impressive imo and are often missing in html games, making the games not very interesting to me, but this gem right here had me hooked for a very long time and I am lookng forward to more

I'm not particularly into games using real porn, because it tends to ruin the immersion for me. Nor I am generally into text based games, because often poor writing and story quality defeat the reading enjoyment. But this game is a nice exception, and I'm supporting it fully. Why? Here's a few reasons.

- The MC is likeable, and the developer knows enough about the LA film business to make this a believable role-playing experience.
- Characters are well designed, funny, and hot when they are supposed to be.
- The grind is well balanced, varied enough at this early stage of development, and quickly becomes pleasantly addictive.
- Smart dialogue, fun situations. Meaningful choices.
- Sex scenes are nicely introduced and actually WORK.
- And the dev is clearly a nice, witty guy who enjoys what he's creating.

Give it a go, really. And consider supporting it. My only complaint would be that I want more. But it keeps coming, and I'm glad to wait.

Early review of v0.015 Alpha [Updated after v0.041]

Encouraged by the many good to great reviews of this game I gave it a playthrough as well... just to find out if this really is that good.

Personally, I can't completely understand any 5-stars-votes to be honest... but this game's for sure more than 1 star only:

(+) What I like:

• good writing mostly
• native English, so no "machine-translated" stuff or "Engrish"
• some nice ideas

• there's some grind due to the mechanics of the game, but mostly it does not feel overly grindy
• the stats and character relations
• a simple, but effective quest journal
• at least some of the chosen models (well, that's most subjective of course)
• a fair amount of content in this early stage of the game
• no game-breaking bugs so far
• regular updates in short time
• the great attitude of the dev to finish this game in the future instead of abandon it (a huge plus !)

(-) What I dislike:

• coercion - it's simply rape and intolerable for me in reality and fiction (so this is minimum a 1-2 stars decrease)
• most of the sexual content deeply lacks erotism, there's almost no seduction, teasing or even passion

• the random "take advantage" casting scenes are only short, soulless hard-banging gifs of low quality
• you have to be almost always only a "bad guy", overpowering women, to get some sexual content in the castings...
  There could easily be much more ways for "good guys" ;-)
• there's some grind that feels too grindy - to raise the stats for example in an never-ending loop
  ...Maybe some more events that help you with stats and money could avoid the need to cheat ;-)

Of course, this one's in its very early stages of development. The dev "Old Dirty Dog" made it fairly playable right from the very start - and this game definitely has potential.

With some further improvements, more story and events, more varied and passionated sexual content (incl. longer videos in a better quality), much less coercion/rape related stuff and keeping the creativity for nice ideas this game could finally reach the 5 stars. [ Unfortuantely obsolete now ]

Just for now... for me this game was slightly above average for the time period when it got updates. [Since this one seems to be abandoned now - like about 90% of all these socalled real p*rn games - I have to downgrade it to 2,5 stars only.]

I'll stay tuned nevertheless and maybe update this review...

Great concept, sexy art, the real porn is synced and the formatting is good. There should be at least be a fast forward scene for sex since they increase your charisma for free, but are much too long to click through efficently. I really do like it though, hope this turns out good.

This game is fantastic. It's the first game I've ever become a patron for, and I've been thrilled with the early progress! I can't wait to see where it goes, and get introduced to more characters.

This is my first review on this site. This is one of the best HTML games I've played so far, despite of its early state. I really hope the developer keeps working on it, since it has the potential to become a classic. The setting is pretty fresh and unique, the story is well written, and the gameplay strikes a good balance between being engaging and not being too grindy.

Very promising start. Fairly complex game-play mechanics, which seem about the right amount of challenging to be relevant without being crippling. A unique setting that, rather surprisingly, I have not yet seen anywhere else. Functions very smoothly, especially for an initial release. And, most importantly in my opinion, is surprisingly well written - "...You say, with the confindence of a man who would fail a field sobriety test", was articulate and humorous enough to suit the likes of James Joyce.

Excellent beginning! Even though it's early, there's plenty of content. Great writing, great character progression, an actual plot that works. Will wait to see how often updates are released but looks like it will be worth supporting.

My only suggestion, and this is very important to me, is animations are ALL just GIFs. Would prefer if actual H scenes were mp4s or the like, something that lasted more than a 3 second loop. Doing this would push this over the top.

Honestly most HTML games i have seen recently have been stale but this one is great. i hope they keep up with the project.

The story is fun and simple enough that you dont feel like you are reading a novel.

I was bummed when I reached the end of the content. Really like the game. Great writing and nice choice of pornstars.
I really hope this game gets frequent updates, looking forward to playing it again in a couple of months, when there's a lot more to do!

Also, the 200 word limit for porn reviews is absurd. It's porn, I came to it. I liked it what more does one need to write.

Once more content is added it will likely be one the best games on the site. The writing is excellent and the construction and work are consistently quality. It is a little on the shorter side but still worth a playthrough.

Review of v0.01a Alpha

I've become a bit jaded about porn games in the last year, so one should not construe my tendency to be overenthusiastic in my reviews of old as reason to doubt my excitement about this game.

Old Dirty Dog has done a magnificent job so far. The intro was refreshing, interesting and left me with a smile. The gameplay loop is executed very well, never making me feel like I'm grinding but that I'm accomplishing. The choices of actresses is solid. The images and video clips are good.

Most importantly, the writing is very good and the english is natural. The MC has an entertaining charm. I had fun playing this completely separate from the porn. It was an enjoyable self-insert.

Just well done all around, Old Dirty Dog.

For it being a first release, it already has a large amount of interesting content. It's well written and I can't wait for more content to be added to future versions, the creator has made a solid map of routes that can be expanded upon in later updates

Really good start. The dialogue is quite well written with great formatting. There is a decent amount of content, especially for a v1 and I am excited to see where this goes. I would let people change their text color in the intro though or pick the color for them as I accidently picked the same color as another character and it made it a bit harder to read quickly. Keep up the good work!

Very promising at the moment. The only thing it really needs is more content. For a v.0.01 or whatever this is currently, the amount of content available is very impressive. It also has writing of a much higher standard than is often found in these types of games. This is a breath of fresh air in a game environment devoid of male protag HTML games.

Very promising for a v0.01 alpha, writing is good and gameplay is decent, if simple. As soon as you figure out how the gameplay loop works it's easy but currently a bit on the repetitive side.

I was especially impressed by the brevity and smooth flow of the writing, which manages to convey what it aims to with levity and ease, rather than bogging down in overly verbose descriptions.

Overall I was thoroughly entertained and am looking forward to seeing what comes next, to the point that I decided to support the creator on Patreon which is actually a first for me. This could easily become a 5-star game once it matures.

Add: at v0.025 Casting Director is still going strong and well worth playing, ODD has a way with words, a good sense of setting-building and a great taste in porn

Really solid first release, good story left me wanting more and enough current content to get a good feel of what the game is about.

The UI and general design is good . Its not just the default Twine/Sugarcube UI that 99% of HTML games use.

No bugs that I could find.

I don't want to comment to much on the grind as its a first release so there are bound to be empty bits.

Cheats to help remove the grind are available for a patron fee, but come on. A fool and his money are easily separated.... Just open the HTML console....

I encountered no grind in my playthrough by massaging the console commands. That's half the fun for me. The console is a game within a game. All the variables are well organised which is another +point

Really solid, I like games that do a good job with story and mechanics and this one is very well done for both. I will be replaying it
It wouldnt hurt if the filesize could be smaller but not a deal breaker
