I really want to love this, but my dick won't get hard when i play this. So its depressing
What are you talking about. This story, the characters, the quality. It is like being a dik without the shitty sandbox mechanic.
I just hope it doesnt end in a fire or something.

Sad story, happy ending, that is was I am hoping. Come for the sex, stay for the story ;)

I found this line somewhat ironic since Chasing Sunsets is about a guy with rich parents trying to figure out how to run his parents multi billion dollar company after travelling around the world using trust fund lol

View attachment 1434504
At the time when Jaye says this sentence, she and her brother have no idea of their parents' fortune (which has not yet been built), they live in an ordinary house, they do not have a Rolex nor Ferrari, in short, this sentence is perfectly correct and not ironic ...

Your conclusion stems from the erroneous assumption of what a "trust fund" means.
If Alex didn't have to deserve every penny in his life, why would he go back to work in Aspen?

Because he couldn't handle the stress of dealing with his family so he ran back to his surrogate family. That's not to say that the MC is incapable of earning a living, but he definitely did not head to Colorado for the money.

This is a great game, no doubt about it. Graphics are amazing, characters are well fleshed out, dialogues feel natural. The plot though, seems pretty lame at times and most of the drama feels artificial and forced.

That said I love the game, I just wished there was a little more thought put into the screenplay, 'cause right now is a dev capable of making amazing visuals, who writes well, makes interesting characters but all these great skills are put into a poor script.

Agreed. It's kind of a shame, because I'd say except for the occasional bit of hamfisted melodrama, this thing's firing on all cylinders. The dialogue/banter is snappy and witty. You feel for the characters and the crap they go through, and it seems that a lot of the jokes are targeted at old farts like myself, which, obviously, I appreciate.

But a lot of the "conflict" seems forced, like the story needed a dose of something to make all the characters start wringing their hands.

While you certainly have a point, the game isn't finished yet. We still do not know all that happens during the step-sibling's youth.

Mc and his new stepsister meet and get along greatly, until, pretty soon, while still 10 yo, Mc decides to cut the ties for a her own good.. that's really dumbly written.. that forced and artificial drama drags itself all through adolescence until it sets events in motion for the MC to abandon his family and the country.
I don't think it's forced or artificial, it's just how kids are. They are dumb & naive. In this case, 10 years old Alex is not only dumb & naive, he's also sweet & caring who's afraid his sister won't have any friends if he kept hanging out with her or at least that's what he thought.

TBH that was probably one of the most relatable scenes the game has... I mean who hasnt pushed someone away due some dumb reason? And considering even as kids they were developing feelings towards each other makes total sense Alex pushing away Jaye for her own good, while still fighting his own feelings. Later, he ran out of home for himself, not her... personally I assume its because Alex realised how much hurt them both are getting for those same feelings... lets say, in a way, Alex was a coward, but he is a teen in a hormonal state that has the hots for his step-sister. Reason goes out the roof, I am sure.

I do agree the Israeli dude plot its a bit out of nowhere but I am 100% sure its Alex parents who asked him to keep an eye/teach him to defend himself, for what reason (money or debt) I am not sure, maybe Alex mom helped him somehow? That way it wouldnt be so surprising he dying for Alex.

As for Malory... I mean there's the whole plot with the wolf, and whatever came before. She also knew and did some investigation work on him, after seeing how he acts first hand, knowing he's single, too...?
And she considering herself a "monster" isnt all that fishy if she had an abusive father that kept her down constantly. I mean its pretty obvious she always had her father by her side dragging her down and making her doubt herself. She clearly has mental issues.

My only issue rn is with Tara. Personally, I dont care much for her, at all, and too me, she has no proper role in the story. Her only role was to tell Alex Jaye has feelings for him, and bangs him so he can come clean with his own aswell... while also being in "love" with Jaye, but she loses her virginity to the "competition", and latter on pretty much want to be Alex's wingwoman? Unless she has ulterior motives, its all pretty dumb if you ask me.

Well, to each their own I guess.
But when I read an event like this I can only think that the dev needed to create a conflict between the protagonist and the sister, but he didn't want for the player to lose sympathy for one of them. Given this premise the "Misunderstanding trope" is the easiest to apply, but also the weakest, 'cause if you stretch it over such a long period of time like this one has, it cannot but feel artificial, 'cause really, how asinine does it look to stand by a decision you take at 10 yo? If the motivation was so that his sister could have friends, once she had those why keep it up? If the decision was taken at 10 yo solely from a conversation he heard from a single kid.. when he became, let's say 12, could he look back at that and realize how dumb it was? No? At 13 maybe then?

I don't want to write or complain too much about it, but while the trope can work and it's easy to use it to justify a short conflict (it's a porn game, so this is more than enough), when you want to keep it up for over a decade it all falls off.. like many other things I pointed out.. it's not like I expect a lot from a game plot, just something a little more plausible to help with the immersion.

I think that too, but what does it add to the plot the fact that he inherits the villa from him? His parents are already super rich, why can't they already own the villa without having me think how stupid this inheritance is?

It's not that is fishy, it's just ridicolous. This abusive father plot is poorly written in my opinion, and his evilness is over the top, it's not hard to believe the generic abuse but the puppy poisoning bit was just too forced IMO.. also, he wanted to make her the scarred/damaged archetype so to say, but to use the heterochromia as a prop is silly, just like when they try to pass a supermodel with vitiligo as that.
Maybe Malory really has mental issues as you say, but then it's even harder to believe that she managed to have such a succeful career so fast, given these premises..

If you're not liking some parts of the story I aint going to be the one to change that, but I pretty sure Alex regrets his decision back from back then even if he aknowledges it was needed but might not be the best course of action. We're not all the same as kids, but I can tell you, IRL, kids can push some other kids away for the dumbest of reasons, best friends too, and their relationship might never be fixed, so it not that far fetched either sticking by their guns depending on the personalities... and I dont even think it was about conflict, just showing how Jaye and Alex fall apart while being kids, for stupid reasons, but with good intentions.

As for Mal, again, you have to bear in mind she clearly has mental issues that she never adressed in public and probably never treated it, aka her father still being over her shoulder. So even if she is like a super model, it doesnt matter if she doesnt see herself that way. Trust me, people call themselves ugly all the time based on one thing or another, body, facial features, whatever, there's very little people who 100% think themselves perfect, and, considering her issues, I am pretty sure she sees herself something like a freak due to her eyes. Her sucessful career came from her constantly working to prove her father wrong, but there's nothing see can do about the eyes except having contact lens, so if she doesnt have those she feels like a freak... I mean its literally the same shit with Fiona on Shrek

Does the writing improve in chapter 2 or is it just more forced drama continuously?

Why is everyone incapable or asking a question and getting a straight answer or correcting misconceptions.

Jade has been totally antagonistic including upto the final scene with her yet this is the summary ha

Writing stays about the same. Some of the Jaye stuff you can start to avoid, which helps.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm playing the same game as others.

Yes, by the end of the current content, there are straight answers and corrected misconceptions. You can do with them what you will.

My favourite sex scene in the game so far was the one between the main character and Linda. Mostly because it was simply a scene where two people who wanted to have sex with each other, did so. They weren't fantasizing about anyone else, or trying to get over someone, or anything of that nature. There was even a mushy moment when the main character mentions just how many days had passed since they were last together. It was great.

My least favourite scene in the game was the one between the main character and Tara, because it was 99% baggage. She was trying to manipulate the main character into staying (while also fulfilling her own personal fantasy), and it quickly became more about Jaye than about anyone actually present. Tara talks about Jaye, and how she fucks Jaye, and even stuffs a pair of Jaye's panties into the MC's mouth while he imagines Jaye. The whole scene was unbearable for someone who dislikes Jaye.

I wish that we had the option to tell Tara that we didn't want to think about Jaye and instead wanted to just focus on her. It would still fit the plot because the MC was about to distance himself from Jaye as much as he could physically, so it would make sense for him to try and distance himself mentally as well (which is what he ended up doing with Fiona later). It would also firmly put Tara in the midst of a very volatile love triangle, which would provide a bunch of potential drama for the future. And finally, it would give players like me a chance to enjoy a sex scene with Tara that wasn't ruined by Jaye. So all in all, it seems like that was a big missed opportunity.

What we got instead was a scene that made Tara look like a bit of a creeper since she is essentially taking advantage of the main character when he is in a moment of weakness. He had just learned that his sister was sexually assaulted by the shitbag she was dating, he immediately fought said shitbag, and was subsequently yelled at by his sister while she physically attacked him and told him to get as far away from her as possible. And all of that happened in front of his friends and family at their graduation party. Tara watched all of this unfold first hand and she sees it as her chance to finally fuck this guy she's been crushing on for years?! That's rather opportunistic, isn't it? If it was a guy taking a girl's virginity after a night like that, wouldn't people be labelling him a skeezy predator?

Honestly, the whole Tara & Jaye stuff doesn't make a single bit of sense. Tara claims that they don't have any feelings for each other, and that she's just pity fucking Jaye, but we later see the main character try to reassure Jaye that Tara didn't betray her by sleeping with him. So what's that about? And why was Jaye fooling around with that shitbag loser back in highschool if she had Tara?

One last small thing that I didn't like about that scene was that it revealed that Tara had asked the MC to tell Jaye the truth if she ever questioned him about that night. This would've been nice to know earlier in the game when Jaye did ask us about it (in the present day), since it's different knowing that we weren't throwing Tara under the bus by answering truthfully. Not that it really matters in the end, since I'm already sick of both of them. Tara and Jaye are perfect for each other. They are both selfish and manipulative, and they both treat the MC like a lesser being.

IMHO the writing improves substantially starting in Chapter 2. The MC is no longer forced to avoid the issues with Jaye, so the game becomes much less about forced drama and more about how you choose to handle the current situation. That made the MC a lot more palatable so I was able to it settle in and enjoy the good character work and continued (if slow) development of the main plot. There's still an unskippable sex scene that I very much wanted to skip in Chapter 2 (though at least it was a flashback), but otherwise the game has corrected most of my major concerns from the early game.

I'm hoping the trend continues! :)

I'm no expert, but my take is that Jaye and Tara are closer to platonic friends at heart and the MC is just cluelessly projecting his preconceptions onto their relationship. As usual. :p
