finished the several runs for the last but not the last chapter, quite disappointing.

the Prizer plot is resolved practically effortlessly after seeming all-powerful and willing to do anything, no use for killers and money in quantity when you become friends with Christian the third (adopted) son of Sara. George becomes a forum tiger after never being able to solve the smallest problem encountered. and then just sending Mallory, whom they had to hide at all costs, to prime time news to deliver the final blow.

there was not a single difficulty in this AVN solved according to logic, each time a rabbit was pulled out of the hat: David, David's friends, the cook who is a master martial artist, Amanda super hacker, Amanda super hacker friend of Artemis...

a curiosity, which is the least of the problems anyway, but since when did Mallory become into extreme sports? maybe they had bought the sets on DAZN and d at this point they had to use them. it still remains a harmless choice that gives and takes nothing away.

then going into more detail about the runs:

the only satisfactory one is Mallory's in this chapter, great sex scene that equals and in my opinion surpasses that of the first time with Jaye, too bad that the eventual third wheel Amanda, disappears completely from the relationship, except for her rebellious genius scene.

Jaye's the most annoying one, first MC or then Jaye full of guilt for excluding Mallory, what a jerk MC was to choose Jaye... (but I shouldn't be surprised in the end it's the same mechanism used with Mallory and Amanda “MC go ahead and choose!!!” “ah...you chose to love only me...whatever...")
a good sex scene and then yet another logic-less trabochet to allow Jaye to continue her academic journey. little else

the run without LIs is absolutely empty and bleak, the only “prize” the photo of Lisa which is still a farewell. Fiona even prefers to bother asexuals rather than show up. let's see what the epilogue will give us.

On the double open or closed relationship variant with Mallory that Jaye reopens, honestly there is nothing to say, poorly handled fan service with no content except the closing of the episode

The thing is, what you see as a dumb pathing decision, others could see the signs for and appreciate as a good bit of writing. Just because this one didn't go the same way as most other games probably would, doesn't mean it makes no sense.
It does make no sense, after you have sex with mallory, tell her you are only doing it to help her, basically tell her you don't like her, then shut her off after leading her for 6 chapters at that point. You want Jaye to be the driving force fine, but to have to completely cut off one of the girls and then for jaye out of nowhere to decide to make a throuple after the player decided to be with only her. How does that make sense, why would mal want to be a part of it again after getting dumped for Jaye. Tell me how any of that makes sense, cause it doesn't.
The devs has ruined these characters and this visual novel.

That's all fine, but it's not actually what I was responding to.

The previous poster had suggested that I was delusional because I thought that it was good writing, which clearly doesn't match their opinion. They then "fixed" someone else's post because he said it was "a top tier AVN" (to which he also specified "IMO"). Those two posts suggest that because our opinion doesn't match, it is invalid. That is what I was responding to.
This particular tangent began when you chided a poster for finding the game badly written. Obviously the quality of writing in Chasing Sunsets is subjective and we won't agree on a universal metric, but if you're going to take objection to someone else expressing their own opinion, you can't be surprised when other people follow suit... be it with memes or verbose arguments.

I think the way the story was set up - Jaye was always going to be the first pick - If you bought into the journey and the unrequited love that Jay and the MC had when they fought at the graduation party and that that flame was still there when the MC returned.

For those who did not sign up for the unrequited love story of Jaye and the MC - Mallory is a great LI.
Unless of course you prefer not to give !@#$!# Amanda a free peepshow; then Mallory isn't even a possible option. Yay! :(

Have you ever read a book or played an AVN that has decisions or characters in it that you just don't like/story choices that you just don't agree with?

I have.

Either these issues are a deal breaker, and I stop the read/playthrough, or they are not a deal breaker, and I enjoy enough of the other story/AVN elements to continue.

If there are enough things I enjoy to continue my read/playthrough, I certainly don't camp on and focus this much angst on what I was missing.

It's one AVN of many - Not my RL - and I treat it as such.

I enjoy many things about CS, but it is not the perfect AVN. - have not found one of those yet...

I've already articulated some of the misses I see in CS.

I'm hoping that Firebreak shows us a more mature dev team when it comes to storytelling and decisions trees, as well as a more coherent story as edited by a professional ahead of the start of Firebreak's production.

Too many AVNs start with a great idea of a story but it is not fully formed when production begins - which often leads to some of the plot holes I and others have pointed out.

I Like CS - the story, the imagery, the relationships; it has misses but IMO - it was a very good story well-executed by a new dev team.

I don't expect you to agree with me - you repeatedly point out how you don't.

Nor do I expect to change your mind with any of my posts.

We simply agree to disagree - a not uncommon occurrence on F95.

I'm only responding to you specifically since you chose to include part of my post in your latest diatribe.

Cheers!! :coffee:

the photo of Lisa which is still a farewell.
From what I remember, on that phone call in the latest episode, Lisa told Alex that she is ready to move on and he could be the guy she's looking for. And that photo she sends him is definitely not a farewell one. Their relashionship is advancing not ending.

But we know it is goodbye, as Lisa is destined for the new game. Then I hope all the sidegirls at least appear in the epilogue, but she and Tara already have new jobs

Why would it be goodbye? What's the in-game reason (not that she's "reserved" for their next game 'cause that's just stupid) for it?

Just because you have strong views doesn't make your opinion more valid than someone else's. We live in a world where we can have opposing views and yet both be right, because they are opinions.
Well, I'm sorry pal, but that's your world, not mine.

So in your world your strong views make your opinion more valid than others. Then you're king of your own little world but you are still all pissed off. You better hope with that level of entitlement you don't get pulled over. In MY world people like you get their window broken out and then get hit with a taser. Pal. :)

Leaving completely aside whether the writer's choices were wise or not:
1) How the heck do you get to the point where "the double open or closed relationship variant with Mallory that Jaye reopens"? I can't get to any point where you are with Jaye and there is any possibility of re-involving Mallory.
2) Are the epilogue and the post-credits scene referring to the same thing? All I can get is a scene with Christian.

You need to focus on Jaye, and when the option to have a relationship with Mallory comes up sleep with her but tell her it's just to help her, no relationship. If you run a relationship with her it appears Jaye finds her too threatening. This is the chief complaint that seems to show up, as the expectation was that if dating both were going to be an option for the endgame, the open relationship would be the way to do that. You'll need to keep relationship points for both pretty close to as high as you can, and then make some correct decisions. In particular, when talking to Jaye in the latest chapter about her med school woes, choose the "phone a friend" option (which unfortunately just seems like the better choice without that being well telegraphed).

If you're confused hearing about an epilogue, that's probably people talking about the last chapter, which isn't out yet. The game is marked completed but as the dev updates have made clear, there's an epilogue coming and then a technical rework of earlier chapters before they're done with the project.

So trouple ending still not possible and wont ever be.
K, bye.
There are no "endings" yet as we haven't had the final epilogue chapter. But you can be with both Jaye and Mallory, you just can't get there through the open relationship route.
