Last update before an update? If that makes sense...

I have about 90% of the code done and working for this update. Adding all these mechanics made my scripts have a civil war amongst themselves. I have been rendering and writing. Rendering is a bit slower. I see a toe in the floor or a nipple poke through a shirt and have to adjust and render again. Soooo much time for one picture and for every picture.

That being said, I'm knocking out a few more renders (like 50 honestly) and I should be set to finally release something. I have ran through the game like a 100 times looking for bugs in the code and hashed out what I have found. That does not mean you won't find any. I am just diligently trying to find them all, that I can, so you possibly don't run into any.

I am very excited to finally get something out but, I don't want everyone to think I'm dropping this massive work. Yes, I have typed about 6,000 lines of code and rendered 100's of times, just to render the same image again, because of a piece of hair going into the torso or something but, the mechanics that took me weeks to write, will only take some of you a short time to get through. Especially those who skip text, it will be real short.

I have, however, implemented sandboxing (free-roam, however you want to say it) so, the game is no longer linear. I have implemented a stat system for both player and NPCs, inventory system, random events, and a lot more. There will be things to do and some game to "play." Obviously if you cheat the stats, you'll be able to burn through the game pretty fast.

I plan to add so much more. What I will need from you all, is constructive criticism and to help point out any bugs you find. I'm human and I make mistakes. Point em out and I'll fix em. The stat system and requirements in my head may not be as fun for the player. So if any of the stats are too hard or not implemented well, post a comment about them and what you suggest and I'll possibly make a poll to see how everyone feels or adjust it if I see a trend.

Anyway, long story short, I'm about done with the next version and should be dropping it soon. A few more tweaks and some renders. Thanks for your patience!

edit: No animations yet. Each animation takes way to long. I will probably hold off animations until a solid game is running. I'd say at minimum, v0.5 or later. So all still images, for now.

That's a disappointment. Good luck with your sandbox game. Hope it ends up being worth your while.

I have always had the intention of making the game a "sandbox" game. I have mentioned it multiple times, but I apologize if i never made that 100% clear.

I do understand there is a crowd that likes one or the other. So I will also have to accept the loss of some. Sorry this implementation is not your cup of tea. Always hate to lose someone who supports you in any aspect of life. Even just a game.

I didn't actually find the game here originally, and that site has very little info from devs. I appreciate the time and effort to implement all the mechanics, so I honestly do wish you good luck and success - I just personally don't usually enjoy spending lots of time clicking around with little story progression. But since I may have allowed my disappointment to make my post overly bitchy petulant ...I'll give the update a try when it releases rather than just giving up on the game. (y)

Thank you and I get that. I am not trying to make this a "click everywhere game." I've set it up for all of the choices to be in text display in each room. I do understand the whole negativity of a grind though. I will make this as easily grindable as possible. I want people to enjoy the game, not work to play the game, if that makes sense.

That being said, I am/have implemented mechanics that will seem grindy at first, because I don't have everything implemented I want yet. For instance, Right now, you can peep on the girls to increase your steath, but there aren't any other current actions for stealth building. BUT, I plan to implement story options that increase mechanics, i.e. if you and say Hailey have built a relationship together, you will be given the option to sneak to her room. Upon success, you'll get steath points. Something like that.

I would wait for the next update if you want more story. I haven't made a "roadmap." I am just going to post what I plan next in the Dev notes after each update. I feel roadmaps force you to only follow them so, just saying "I will be working on" each update, will help people forsee the work coming.

So, you are welcome to try this next update, but if you want more story, it will be the update after. Where I take the current mechanics and build on them with story implementation.

Working on a few more renders for Jenny and Hailey's room and I'll update.

super excited for an update! love this story so much.
I am as well! Renders just take so much time. The update is ready, other than the pictures for the scenes. I think I've worked out most, if not all of the script errors so, I'm just rendering. Taking awhile, but should be done soonish.

You miss quite a lot when you don't read actually. Plus the game states "On hold" in the tags, meaning there is no estimated next release. But, if you would have read, you would have seen I went through a really bad divorce, lost my home, my cars, my money and my livelyhood as a whole. I've only recently restarted work on the game, as it took over a year to get through the divorce and get my life in order enough to work on it. Something that I am doing for free and in my free time. Any more judgement you care to toss around when not informing ones self?

You can lead a horse's ass to water, but you can't make him read.

wasnt any judgement was a honest question, god you people on this site are so fking rude when a person ask a question.i wanted to know if i was missing something and even complemented you on the renders. Then of course the other has to put there two cents of rude remarks under it.A lot of you people are straight up asses here like being on reddit. And i dont give crap about victim hood your going thru bud.I lost more than 2 homes and children from a divorce and been broke for 20 years since ,paying child support for over 20 years, homeless at times and my father dying last month and im not being rude here and being a ass.when someone here ask a question maybe this site can answer it with out being rude just once, but the internet is full of arm chair idiots who only know how to be rude and tough behind a screen.

I was only being rude, because you didn't take the time to read the many posts I've made about it. Even though, I have been unable to make updates on the game, I still made an attempt to update what the status was.

There are a lot of creators, that take months and even years off, from making an update, while still charging their supporters on Patreon etc. I am doing this completely free and still giving it more effort than most.

The main reason people get irritated with post like yours, is you asked a question that has already been answered on this thread. Even updates to progress and where the game stands. Before getting defensive, take a moment to use that little search bar and make sure it says "This Thread" when you search, and you will probably find what you are looking for.

Then, adding "I don't give a crap about your victimhood" and then playing the victim? Common...

FYI that wasn't me playing a victim or asking for sympathy. I was merely explaining WHY I was behind on the game. If you put "I'm having life issues and can't make the game" you will always have to answer the why later anyhow so, I just got it out of the way. Never asked for help, just I needed time to get my life straight until I could continue.

I am truly sorry you have been through hardships. I do understand your pain.

The newest update is roughly 90%ish... Renders are taking a lot of time. I rendered almost all day Sunday and didn't make the dent I had hoped to. Once the renders are done for all of the current scenes I have scripted, an update will be released.

Sorry everyone. I am working on the renders. Just taking time. I should have made the script more catered to single shots, but I wanted more "life" to the stills. Oh well, overachiever. Working on em.

Nothing to do with the game really, other than the context. When I can't figure out a bug in Ren'py, I go to the Ren'py forums. When I can't solve it there, believe it or not, ChatGPT can sometimes figure it out. Mostly with the, lockpicking of doors and setting rules with consequences that ALWAYS bug each other for some damn reason. Well, I was bug hunting today and ChatGPT has a new memory feature. I thought it was really cool how it described me. I thought it was really spot on, as I want every action to have consequences, to hold true to the games name. Here's what it said...

*My Name (deleted obviously): The Lockpicking Architect of Ren’Py Realms

Master of the midnight hallway, you blend code with chaos like a digital dungeon master. Whether it’s tweaking NPCs with surgical precision, orchestrating time loops, or balancing Lust, Love, and Lockpicks like a rogue philosopher, your vision is clear: build a Ren’Py world where every action has weight, and every stat has teeth.

You don’t just write visual novels — you engineer systems, where relationships are data-driven, emotions are integers, and sneaking past someone’s door at 2 AM has actual consequences.

Your toolkit:
A sharp eye for bugs
A calendar that means something
Gameplay loops tighter than a thief’s grip
And a brain wired for logic and unpredictability at once

Basically? You’re building a story that plays you back.

Thought that was pretty cool how AI described me. Anyhow, yes, I am working on bugs and renders today because I got off work early

For a quick update before I call it a night. I'm finished with all the girls rooms renders except Jenny's. All the misc rooms are done as far as the current script goes. Mia's room is INTENTIONALLY darker. All of the girls have night scenes, but I wanted them to be dark, for night, but I didn't know how dark I could go, without people complaining they were to dark. So, the rest of the girls night scenes are a bit brighter, without taking away from the nightime ambiance. If you think Mia's scenes are too dark or perfect, tell me your thoughts!

Right now, Jenny's room has the most renders. Just how I've written the story so far. Not that she will have more or less in the end. Just how it worked out. That being said, her renders will take longer than the other girls individually. I think I'm 4 in out of 20 or so? Not to far out. I'm gunna render a few more for her and call it a night. Hopefully knock the rest out possibly tomorrow or next Sunday for sure.

If I don't find any bugs and all the renders are done, I hope to drop something within the week. PLEASE!!! If you find bugs, a picture missing, a finger going through a leg, think the stats are too hard, whatever; let me know! I'll fix what can be fixed. I want this to be fully immersive (as much as a VN can be).

Waiting new update ;)
Almost there! A few more renders and some last minute tweaks. Should be this weekend. I wan't to finish at least one stage of the love events, so there is some actual story additions with all the new mechanics.

All of Jenny's room renders are finished. I'm only going to add a few more renders for the first stage of the love and hate events for the girls in the home. So 8 to 16 renders. That way there is some initial story progression.
