You can actually look up how many projects don't even deliver a quarter of the promised content and basically have nothing in the way of art and pay off before the project is unceremoniously canceled so.... yes?
And you're upset at the guy who pointed out that this fails the definition of a scam because it's not presenting anything it isn't selling to you. People can be so weird- no, the game you're not paying for isn't lying to it's customers about what they're paying for.
SKA has less art (WAAAAY less art), and spends way more time making you grind. It's a bigger game in the sense that you could make anything bigger if you add filler.
Dude, it was an example. I cannot list every single game on this website that got completed and was not made for the sake of itself.
You are one of those people that need hear the entire thing pure and crude or you just don't get it? Fine, here it is.
I have no doubt that Claire started as an "honest" game in the sense that devs had a vision and wanted to work on it to see it to completion, it had great hope and I genuinely liked the game. Would had definitely bought it on steam. After years and years each one worse than the last of postponing, half baked updates with barely anything at all, came the frustration first.
After frustration died, came disillusion and Claire became just another of those games to fap to last scene introduced and forget about it for months.
Disillusion died too and in the end came certainty and it's here to stay. Whatever visions devs had, they clearly lost it and I cannot in good conscience trust the development of a game that gets financially supported for 9 years and has a QUARTER of the game to show for it? Do not not even try to stutter with "b-b-but triple A studios" out of this. I gave examples of indie studios that wanted to make a game and did it. I encourage you to go on youtube and search for how Stardew Valley got made, the dev COMMITTED to the fucking project and saw it through in 5 years alone and by that I mean one single person doing everything.
Hollow Knight is a masterpiece of a metroidvania and costed under 100K to make and got 57K as crowdfunding. Its CONCEPT began in 2013 and was released in 2017. Team cherry was much smaller back then.
I could continue with other games but where is the point? Claire's quest is a resource and time sink hole, if there was any chance the game would be completed it would have done so. Best advice I can give is to enjoy what has been released and never expect anything more.
Shimobashira games (
https://f95zone.to/sam/latest_alpha/#/cat=games/page=1/creator=shimobashira) is one excellent example of studio doing H-games with plenty of content and good art. This development model of supporting a game is way too easy to exploit over relying on die hard fans that can be milked at will for a decade while showing no significant nor efficient money/development ratio. I am well aware that no amount of good speeches, well presented arguments and how much of a silver tongue sly fox someone might be, some people will never be convinced otherwise. It goes both for you and me, we are not willing to move from our position anyway aren't we?
