Since some people seem to think the only thing that matters are story updates. Let me break down our organization of updates so that perhaps folks can understand them
- Priority 1) Adding in Any New NSFW Animations (because we're fully cognizant of what brings people back)
- Priority 2) Adding in Any New Mechanical Skeletons (because it's an adult game, not a glorified porn gallery, unlike our spiritual predecessor)
- Priority 3) Removing Bugs Turned Up By Testing (because if you leave them to fester they'll hide other bugs and it'll build up and everything will turn to shit, this priority is the one that takes up most of our time and qualifies for hotfixes the most, and yes, we're fully aware that us 'fixing the bug' doesn't always fix the bug, because sometimes you fix how it happens one way, but then someone stumbles across an entirely new way to make the same thing happen)
- Priority 4) Adding in new art/sfw animations (because making the game look nice helps with optics but it's not actually critical to getting the game actually FUNCTIONING)
- Priority 5) Expanding the existing mechanics from step 2 with more meat on them (Because it's easy to test something that has few variables, but you gotta stress test them)
- Priority 6) Adding in Quality of Life improvements (because making life easier for testers, while not a priority, once again helps people discover bugs and also helps test out if folks are playing the game you intend them to play rather than the game they discovered on their own that you had no idea that existed)
- Priority 7) Adding in new writing (Because contrary to popular belief, writing is actually pretty fucking easy to add in later into the product when you're more aware of both what mechanics are available to you and what needs to be done)
All of the above is modulated by 'how much effort is this to put in'
I hope people can understand this and while I sincerely doubt folks will stop giving us shit about 'tiny updates' I'll remind them that we put out updates anywhere from 1 day to 12 days apart from one another, and that building a game is a lot like building a house. You start with the foundations then build up.
And seriously, if you wanted us to take your complaints about 'tiny updates' seriously, maybe if you didn't complain about the freaking hotfixes which exist to be tiny, rapid, updates, we'd pay more attention. As it is you're more or less complaining about maintenance fixes not adding sweeping changes to a product and expecting us, or anyone, to take it seriously.
appreciate the sentiment, but these are people who have made up their mind that we are pure, greedy, evil (never mind that spurple isn't the one who vanished off the face of the earth with something like 90 thousand in operating expenses), who don't -actually- want to make a pornographic game and are just cribbing on the audience (because if you don't have tits out and people being called slut at every step it's not a porn game right?), and that despite pouring most of our money into the game, having more HD animations than Breeding Season ever did (let alone the sprite sex animations), having been open and transparent with our patrons, and are now running longer than BS had before it imploded with no signs of implosion on our end, that we're going to drop this, do a runner with all the mad stacks of cash we supposedly have (despite spending every dime we get on operating costs), and abandon everything again because... we're evil and stupid I guess?
Don't bother. I'm actually getting paid to argue with these people, you aren't. It's not worth the rise in your blood pressure fam.
edit: I have to say though, the willful blindness of people who are so utterly convinced we're evil and going to try and 'steal things' is hilarious because like... I can think of 10 ways off the top of my head that we'd be better off making money. Fuck, if you want to pull this kind of scam you're better off going through something like indiegogo or kickstarter or a similar thing, not a patreon format. And seriously, S-Purple's IRL identity got outed, his art style is pretty obvious. He's burned as far as scams go and wouldn't have a chance of running a properly profitable one. If you're gonna assume we're out to scam folks please do us the service of at least assuming we'd not be this STUPID about it. We're here working to build a really good first game because we know if we flub it then there won't be another game.
