I don't get the hate. He tried, failed, then tried again. Like most of novice game developer. He doesn't like his previous game so why he can't start another one?

Why the hate? Let's see, for one this "dev" has already scrapped one project before Saria reclaimed. One failed project I can understand, everyone deserves a second chance, but NEVER a third (fool me once same on you, fool me twice shame on me).

Then he produces Saria Reclaimed, everyone is comparing it with the rather successful "Karryn's Prison" and it garners tons of revenue in the form of Patreon support.
Then for no valid reason he decided to change what would have been a certain hit title, pulled a bait and switch and changed it into a boring linear card game.
(if he could not deliver "programming" wise, he had more than enough Patreon money to hire a capable programmer to push him through the rough spots, so lack of programming experience is no excuse.My theory is that he just wanted the money he already got without putting out the work required, so he intentionally "sabotaged" the game so he could later declare it a flop and go along on to his new grift).
Anyway after this bait and switch his supporters got aggravated and rightfully demanded for the game they supported. The "dev" more or less insulted them, told the to fuck off and that it was his game and he would do with it as he pleases in his discord.

Now that many of his former supporters have left because of his dishonest practices, he decided to scrap "Saria" and go on towards his new grift, and people now won't allow him to keep conning others out of their money.

This got me curious enough to check their patreon stats, patrons number has been on steady decline but someone's actually whaling to keep the earnings up. I feel bad for whoever it is.

I think the larger issue is that Velminth is trying for features way beyond his skill level, which he acknowledged on his Patreon. Like the first iteration of Saria seemed to be inspired by Karryn's Prison, but deviated from the gameplay loop that made KP's corruption progression sensible. He failed to balance the fights in a satisfying manner and it took a lot of effort to get to the high corruption content. His next attempt was to redo the combat entirely, this time taking inspirations from Library of Ruina. Again, his take on it deviated from LoR's progression system and he couldn't get it to work. Doing either 1:1 isn't really possible due to the sheer scope and complexity that he definitely doesn't have the resources for. He probably went the VN route to bypass the need to balance things altogether, and here we are now.

We can only hope that whatever this game is based off of is something he can actually adapt, since he's apparently now aware of the feature creep issue. But if it's still above his capabilities, expect a bunch of rework here too.

Not skill, more just taking on more than he can chew. He was capable of fleshing out the hentai combat in Saria perfectly, he just needed a partner to help him design everything game wise while he worked on the art. Karryn Prison for example was a duo team (alongside the extra help they got with the custom scripts). However, given his personality finding someone capable to work with him as well as tolerate his quick-fire temper was simply not going to happen, especially given he never cared to moderate his power and executive means making it deadly to try to oppose him. The passion left him over time.

This H game is very simple, the majority of the content is based off typical H event finder stuff and the main appeal is going to be the character deigns, the video game aspect is just there to entice your gamer side. It would be hard to fuck up this formula and given it's a regular harem game, it should also be easy to keep his interest with different girls to design. Each girl is probably going to have 1~4 H scenes, unless he's biased about a few of them, so this H game should be finished rather quickly if he puts his mind to it.

The change of Saria to a VN I would say was a mistake. But I am defending the choice to make it card based. Made the game more unique in skill progression and gameplay as compared to most RPGM games.

Gonna give this new game a look.

I dunno, talent tree's are pretty rare in H games. Only one I've played that had that was Karryn's Prison. Also, I feel the card game had more luck and less skill which felt boring to me, but I'm also the type of person that doesn't like large amounts of RNG on my character.

Absolutely amazing.

Well in his defense in the post about putting SR on hold he said he basically ADD'd out and got burnt out drawing the same woman repeatedly for 2+ years. Which wouldn't have been an issue if he hadn't scope creeped the game so hard originally with turning it into a card battler and then a VN after. Since doing that made the games development drag out longer than it was originally planned to.

after saria reclaimed review bomb he rather made a new game instead of remaking saria for the 3rd time

I'm gonna one up that and say he ALLEGEDLY sabotaged the whole thing so he can move on and do this one for whatever reason. Reasons can be ? ? ? ? ? pretty easy to guess but i'm gonna leave that to your imagination.

Now given this revelation might as well praise him for effectively ALLEGEDLY sabotaging Saria work coz it was masterful how almost everyone hated it and it worked flawlessly.

Honestly, putting Saria aside, the art, character design and Ui elements all look good.
I'm not really interested in a male protagonist, but if Vel is losing interest in Saria, maybe a whole new game is just the ticket, instead of making sweeping changes to that one.

I'll keep an eye on this.

Man this why I dont like supporting projects sometimes, very rarely do the devs finish them. Its kinda a spit in the face because he rebuilt and changed the game's systems just to abandon it 4 months later.....
