I think it had to do with the characters... the old version of the game had a lot of charisma powerhouses who constantly interacted with the protagonist, came back, most had a role to play in each arc... in this version of the game though, the cosplayers have simpler personalities and in a lot of instances are just... "there". no big scene between them, hardly returning for plot relevance, few if any dynamics and character clashes when they are not directly linked... I have a feeling each update is just a 'let's introduce this character' instead of pushing the story forward, Only Phoebe seems like she has a real character arc and she is originally from the first version of the game. A shame, the pryor version seemed close to completion too, i wonder what the endgame would've been.
not saying the prior game was a masterful character analysis or that all girls had equal display or that this is a bad game (I still like it fine), but at I remember Phoebe, Carmen, Ivy, and a couple more for their personality, not just their cosplay design. To this day I still don't understand why they went to remake the game instead of just... changing some lines of dialogue and slightly tweaking the designs to get rid of the direct pokemon reference. (also, ngl, a big part of me is just missing the characters from the previous game)

So yeah, i think my main thing is... i kinda vibed with the characters more in the previous one.
Wow, first off thanks for all the feedback!

I think that's totally fair, In the original game the whole main cast was introduced super fast so you got a ton of different personalities all clashing and interacting at the same time which was fun. In the newer version it does take a bit of time to start getting the main characters like Phoebe. In the newer updates there has been much more of that conflict now that Ivy is thrown back in the mix. The next major update is going to have Carmen and Joyce so I do think that will help.

Some of the parody characters are simple by design and were intended to be more like fun rewards than fully fleshed out characters that have big stories. Maybe there is something i can to help distinguish the two. I bet it is super jarring to save one girl like Ellie and go on this giant quest line then find Tifer and just get a instant reward.

As to why we choose to remake it instead of just changing things it was a multiple reasons.

The code of the original version was really messed up, I'm a self taught programmer with no formal experience and this was the first game I've ever made. So I had a buddy of mine come in and try to help me fix it but it was one of things like a deck of cards. It ended up being easier to just redo things if I wanted to have something more quality. I wanted to do a bunch of cool stuff for the ending but it just wasn't possible with how the rest of the game was running. That combined with the Nintendo sending the copywrite stuff. I felt like remaking was the best option at the time.

Oh! yeah, that makes sense! So it basically was a situation of "since we have to remake this all from scratch, we might as well do something new instead of years retracing terrain"... I get it, that's completely fine, a bit of a shame ngl, but I can relate on an artistic level, I am sure it's also more motivating to be building something than "re-assemble" something.

I will still keep an eye on the project and a heads up! Carmen and Ivy back will probably help get me back into it. I wish you all the best of luck (been following Conquest since Version 0.02 of the first game... yeah, that long), so when I say i really want you all to turn fine I mean it (I also really liked the ghost-girl visual novel, I am not good with games, but I do remember the story.)

I noticed this pacing too but you did a good job on marking side characters as side quest and in the gallery the main characters are on a separate space from side and instant reward characters. I wonder though if you will come back and refine Camo's scenes to have better animation once the game story is finished. I hope you do.

Any scenes with any of the witches yet? I've been following this one for a while, since it showed up in that site with the Tankman ;)

I usually wait until much more content is added to try a new version, but man I keep getting blue balled by the fact there is no action with Faye or the really hot store witch! Will that happen some day, I mean is that planned to happen? One is soooo cute and the other is sooo hot...

tried entering with the backstage pass, stuck in a place with the only interaction being "the pink pillar blocks your path"
Uhhhh, same
That was a bug with the Beta 1 version.

The public versions are always more stable but I don't really have control of what gets posted here. I would rather have the version people are playing be functional so I'll post the beta 2 which has a fix.

All I ask in return is help with finding bugs!

New glitch! Died to the naptime prince, entered the room where the table with woodland creatures was, lots of sprites were overlaid on top of one another, and the game was unresponsive. did let me save though

edit: reloading fixed it but still

If there's one thing I would suggest from an in progress game perspective it's to make a way for players to warp out of the dungeon if the thing hasn't been fully devved in yet. Because as it stands once you go in there and save you have no way to check out whatever new content gets added elsewhere which sucks for an in progress game like this. It's the same issue the previous version of conquest ended on where you got trapped in that hole and so couldn't do anymore gameplay or unlocking of stuff.

You actually can leave the dungeon just go to to the first room and there is an arrow to exit.

Was this on the beta 2 version? And was this on the windows .exe version or android? Did you load a password or did you play it from the start?
