VN Ren'Py Completed Confusion [v1.0.1] [AVNSnax]

Doesn't really need one, as there's nothing to "win." The idea is to make choices that make sense to you in the moment. There is no "game over" so you'll always get to the end. Once you're finished, you can go back and try different paths if you think some decisions might yield different results.

Basically you expected something more akin to a Nukige, you wanted something else than a "normal" life struggle and a character defining summer for a story. You also wanted characters that look like top models no matter their expression or the angle you looked at them. You wanted sex scenes out of a porno rather than out of real relationship. That last one granted if the sex scene is too well done in a realistic way it can give some players the impression that they are voyeurs witnessing an intimate moment between two characters and cause uneasiness. The ending you got is reflective of your playthrough, so if it was trash it might be because you acted like trash? To me it felt on the plausible and more realistic side with some regrets and some longing for more links to others but also with some joys and happiness. If it felt cringe to you I can't do anything for you.

My late grandmother thought me a lesson as I was a child that is staying with me to this day. I don't know why it stuck so much with me but I feel it is still relevant today. It's much easier to hate someone different or with different ideas than you than to love them, so we must force ourselves to see the good in everyone we comme across or we'll become haters always going for the easy way until we make it part of ourselves. Calling a character a loser is denying yourself understanding and empathy. Your analysis is so surface level that it's hard to take anything away from it.

The only thing I got out of your answer is that by calling it a self insert you at least understood that the situations have been inspired by real life. I understand that maybe it's hard to see someone love coffee so much.

AVNSnax I just finished my only run and I really appreciated the story. Like Wildcard said, it includes some debatable choices, and the character expressions weren’t always well done, but I truly enjoyed the game. I’m really glad that stories like this can be shared online to raise awareness about people who are simply different. I’m not sure how much a porn game can change someone’s perspective, but in my opinion, it’s a step in the right direction. I really hope to see more attention given to these themes, like in the line "mother father parent".

If you can forgive me for mixing real life with AVNs here, I would like to say that -being a father to a trans son - I've noticed quite a few similarities between his struggles and those of the main character in your touching story. He's just about to turn 20 and more stories like this (no matter how hard the subject matter can end up being portrayed) help him feel "seen", as absurd it might be to admit in a AVN forum. So, keep it up, you've got at least two fans here.

The ending felt pretty flaccid, which is a shame. It's unfortunate that so much of the game was spent focusing on what could be labelled "trauma-farming" rather than developing the characters. I feel like the relationships barely evolve past the beginning, it's just the same with some sex. That isn't even mentioning the fact here are some characters where you have all of one scene with them, before the ending decides to completely remove any progress. It makes the entire game feel stunted when you basically end up at the same place, regardless of the very liberal use of the word "endings".

Biggest positive for me was seeing the clear development in skill visually over the course of development. Hopefully the next project has more focus than just a general theme. This quality of visuals with a good character-based or story-based script could be fantastic.
