Had some time to read into. Sorry for the long post.
I've been also noticing some things I didn't before:
Hm, Sarah had contact at least before Officer Monroe saved her (on the arm, assuming it would not go through clothes, then already at the start of the game). EDIT: strike that, I guess I was tired. Only pheromone through skin, not the infection.

As for the cops i somewhat agree. I mean one can argue that they may didn't have enough man - had to secure everything, everyone is tired, and they thought she's "just" traumatized and help her when they can (next day or s.t. - she just arrived before and sleeping could have helped). On the other side not checking for symptoms is something that could be expected of regular people (no really, that's proven how people forget to check basics in such stressful,horrifying situations), but from cops that are trained, responsible for everyone to protect? They are yet only humans, we dont know how well educated and stuff, but it still leaves a "meh".
That's nice so I can screw endings like Sarah get's infected and Ava does what she thinks her sister would expect of her. That would still be too much for her and she turns willingly to the one (resp. many through one) person who can at least let her forget the rest. and maybe think of endings like

That's so nice of you to devote yourself. Not sure they are into as they like monsters but hey, they need some to feed monsters too. If you're confused think of what sub could mean too, just joking.
