I do find it funny
Post the Discord build then
I never said there was one. YOU said that Arc is on his discord. That means active. That means he hasn't abandoned it.

My two biggest points are this, again.
1) If you have lost faith, just ignore the thread. I mean, it's SUPER showing at how much the people who want to hate on Arc are. I mean, for having me on ignore, lobesod sure is taking a LOT of time out of their day to like every single one of my comments. I'd figure if they hate this game so much, it's a better use of their time to find a game they DO enjoy.
2) EVERYONE bitching about scam artists literally do not understand how patronage works. The artist doesn't work for you. You are not their boss. YOU ARE NOT EVEN A CUSTOMER. If you believe, again the big word is IF, in their project, you give money so they can devote time to it. The IDEA is enough money that they don't have to work to live. THAT is what patronage is. That is what EVERY crowdfunding for a game is.

Now, let's get to brass tacks then. Your profile says you are a game developer. So I have a few questions:
1) Artist/Asset developer or Programmer?
2) Do you develop solo or as part of a team?

??? I never mentioned the Discord until you did. So I guess nobody even knows if he's active on there apparently. Neither of us are in that server. I'd bet there's nothing more there that isn't on his Subscribe Star.

Also to circle back, I think you missed why I brought up my CEMU example. I subscribed and then very irregularly checked back in on the project. There's a good chance I didn't check back for a year or more at least once, but I was subscribed the whole time. If I found out the project was canceled for a whole year and I was still paying, I'd be upset. I can almost guarantee you that most people are like me: they sub to something to give support and put trust that the creator will slowly make progress. You check back in after a bit and expect a nice surprise that there's something to show for the time that has passed. Nothing crazy, literally just progress being made which in the case of an Adult VN would be some new content.

And on that train of thought, context matters. For an emulator, a year of bug fixes could be amazing. For an Adult VN that's literally nothing. People either expect a little story or a single new spicy scene.

Look, there's a ton of awesome creators that make a ton of money and yet they continue to provide value for people that are subbed. Unfortunately, there are also quite a few like this game which blow up and then coast for years. The only reason they get away with it is because of weirdos like you who will defend someone taking advantage of people's kindness and trust. If this dev's Subscribe Star hit zero, you can bet you'd see a new build out this week. You can try and make some sort of legal argument about contracts or what the definition of patron means, but at the end of the day it is a scam to take people's money and not provide any of the value they paid you for. You already proved this. We agreed that if he never posted again about the game, people would start unsubbing once they realized. That's really all there is to say.

You see, I didn't touch the CEMU because that's a pure hypothetical, and while I can understand the frustration you supposedly would have felt if they cancelled but the crowdfunding site didn't nix everyone's subscription, but I'd be pissed at the site for that negligence and myself for not watching my money.

You want to say I'm wrong for properly understanding what patronage is. I laid out the definitions. That is its whole point, to support an artist. The nice thing is, with crowdfunding sites, there is some accountability. If Arc went full radio silence, Subscribestar will cancel his account and that will (of course) immediately kill all subscribers to him. You aren't BUYING anything with the donations, you are supporting the artist. If you feel you aren't getting your money's worth, that does not make it a scam. No where did Arc say "I will always have an update with X number of scenes every 8 months." Just that they're working on the game.

However, let's get onto my point, and thank you for giving me the answer. It does bring up another question, and one you are actually qualified to answer. I know it may appear trollish, but I am actually wanting your input on these because it does relate explicitly to the greater topic at hand, I promise, so I do ask you indulge me a little longer.
As a solo dev, did you start as an artist or a programmer?

This is all superfluous and ridiculous My recommendation is simple if he fails to put out new content within the next few months cancel your subscriptions and just un-watch this thread stop coming back and even talking about it. I mean seriously if the dev doesn't care enough to make his own appearance here and defend himself he isn't worth the time to argue about. For me 2 months after that I will never play any game this dev produces because I will have learned what to expect.

How long has it been since the last update anyway? And I don't mean the bullshit of "working on it" posts on SS or the streams where he works on it. I mean the last update with content. Has it already been a year? We're definitely close to a year at this point right?

Well even if they released a proper update in Feb like the OP says then it's been at least 10+ months

You're at odds with yourself. Saying that doing zero work would be unacceptable but that you don't have any expectation just doesn't work. In order for that to be true, there must be a middle ground. There is always a line, and you have one too. There's an amount of progress that you have in your head that is acceptable. Maybe for you, for some reason, that line is one build every 5 years but you absolutely have it. Everyone does. And in my opinion, every reasonable person would be upset at a full year with no new build to play with.

I'm a programmer
