I'd genuinely be interested in seeing how many supporters are active and how many have simply forgotten or lost track of their subscription. Patreon has a policy where if after four months of a creator not posting or processing a payment they shut it down. But nothing really stopping someone from merely setting your subscription to auto and just forgetting. A lot of people really wouldn't notice $5 a month going away.As people love to point out, he has over a thousand supporters still, so they obviously DO want to play his game.
There's also the idea of Sunk Cost Fallacy. For a lot of subs who have been there from the start, that's years and years of money and support going to Arc. To cancel now and give up would make it feel like the hard earned money you spent and the time you could have used for other things were totally wasted. It's been years since development started. That is a heavy amount of investment. And quite literally tens of thousands of dollars all together going to this creator to make something you loved. To just give up isn't worth the extra $5 a month they'd get by cancelling that subscription. It's an unfortunate thing that happens to a lot of people.
That being said, he absolutely has plenty of people who actively support him, defend him, and believe in every word he says. A lot of them don't care how long it takes to get anything from him. They will continue to support him and believe that the game they want is coming. Which is sweet in a way but I personally don't think Arc deserves that kind of selfless support.
BUUUUT...
I do want to end this on some positivity. I think that Arc did truly create a pretty interesting world with plenty of characters you can't help but like. I thought Roxy's story was great and exploring the scorched, desolate desert of a world

I truly did, and still do, love the world that Arc has created. I cared enough that I happily supported him on this endeavor for years. And it's because I care still that I'm still invested in what happens with the story. I don't want CK to be dragged through the mud, burned, and Arc to be on the streets or anything. I want the game to be completed. I don't care about fancy UI or ticking clocks or some kind of battle system that gets changed 50 times. I care about Kana, and Gwen, and Roxy, and all these characters he made and we love. Finish the game, expand the universe, write something more. Give us a game where we play as Gramps back in the day. There is so much that he can do that isn't just trying to milk this game as long as he can.
Either way, rant over. I hope everyone is staying safe and warm this holiday season. It's barely been hitting 20 degrees Fahrenheit where I live but at least we've gotten some nice snow. Stay safe everyone.
