I finished my first campaign with a failure but starting to get the hang of it.

Now this is getting fun!

In case you haven't figured out what those --- marks mean next to the Chosen's vulnerabilities, that's how weak they are to those actions. Using Reaper as an example, her Confidence is: PAIN ----| INJU so she's very weak to Attack, and highly resistant to Pummel, which is why we'll be exclusively using Attack on her until further notice.
God damnit, this needs to be documented somewhere. I never could figure out what those lines exactly indicated and they're such a vital part of the UI

I just realized something, wouldn't it make sense if the drain punisher didn't explode?

I mean, at that point in the game it probably wouldn't really affect gameplay, but well, it would also work against rising that drain %.

I agree. This always seemed a little odd to me personally, at least from a flavor perspective. How would the Chosen be able to accrue enough power to cause an explosion when they're constantly getting their energy drained?

exactly, plus it feels weird to have it explode quicker than the others when is the one that is supposed to benefit from that.

in my opnion it should still explode but the explosion shound not have an effect

Can I still get the 'tempt' distortion if I've broken the '+2' thing? I'm a little fuzzy on whether it counts as a break or not

If your Tempt target starts using the Violence tactic, they can no longer be tempted. Violence is what a Chosen uses to reduce damage from Grind and... Pummel I think? It can be triggered by Grind and Pummel, but I believe it'll only trigger from Pummel after they've already started using Beg.

basically, you have to be really careful with using grind (to be safe, no more than 3000) and do not use sodomize.

Honestly, I couldn't even get my Chosen to 1000 Hate before they started using Violence. Possibly because I was also getting their Pain up at the same time, but I never got the chance to have her get anywhere near 3000. So I recommend to just save often and try to get Hate up with a specialty Commander because they cant cause breaks to anything you don't want them to.

And I really don’t mind doing this since besides having cute characters I designed showing in battle it also feels like a nice way to repay this appreciation I have for the fun times I spent with the game and learning things as well as your hard work to the game and listening to feedback.

I will say I’m “Kalloi” on your blog and the subscribestar so all those questions I asked on there about the image set mechanics were really helpful in the prepwork and drawing thank you again for answering all of them!

:D I have the concepts done for 7 more characters and a couple costume designs for each character and Two character types I need to sketch out. (A goth styled character and a Kawaii pop styled kind of character)

Not only since you’re the developing the game but also it’s fun designing characters myself but I’m always happy to hear other people’s design ideas, and the variety will keep things fresh for people using the pack as well I hope!

Especially since you’re planning on reworking how chosen names are generated and increasing the pool of them so I’ll take multiple designs from anyone if they want to contribute some :)

If you don’t mind me asking though, how will the name generation be changed?

Currently my design philosophy for designing character’s color schemes as well as their expressions was to use their name in addition to the personality archetype that usually is given that name as the primary color and give them a unique secondary color that will be for accenting their primary color and also used as the basis for their superior color scheme

Ie. The blue character design uses blue since that’s her personality archetype and name’s like “miracle” are usually the pure personality type so that’s why her anger expression is very pouty than vicious or malicious
Her superior variant is primarily white since her secondary color in her chosen form is white

and I applied this to the other designs as well with them having varying shades of red/blue/green depending on my initial design ideas for them and the superior versions of them being everything thing from White to black to yellow

But a flaw in this design philosophy I realized recently is some names flip colors in the games depending on the personality type so an “Eidolon” that’s green sometimes might be red in another one.

I’m still thinking of sticking to my current design philosophy though unless the name generation will change drastically and it will be hard to tell what colors the name pool will be so if you can give some insight into some of the changes you’re thinking of implementing I would appreciate it a lot to hear them!

And one more thing I forgot to ask while you were developing the portrait system was that will there be support for male Versions the characters once something like a “body shift” happens
I understand if you don’t plan on doing so since that might require a lot of work for something people might not care to use

Im heading to work now but I was also curious about that static image in the image pack it felt ominous in a cool sort of way so thank you for explaining what that was haha

It's nice to have the confirmation that you are who I thought you were. I appreciate the support.

In order to talk about how I want to generate names in the future, I'll first describe how it's done now. The game looks at the four basic personality scores (for Morality, Innocence, Confidence, and Dignity) and picks out the one that's furthest from 50 along with the next-furthest one from 50. It chooses the name based on those two stats and whether they're higher or lower than 50. So, for example, if Morality and Confidence are furthest from 50, and Morality is low while Confidence is high, then she'll be named either Calamity or Reaper. If Morality is further from 50, then it'll be Calamity, and if Confidence is further from 50, then it'll be Reaper. The disadvantage to doing things this way is that any given Reaper or Calamity can have any Innocence or Dignity score at all, as long as one of them is a Moderate Vulnerability.

The way I'd prefer to do it is to give each name a weight depending on personality scores, and then have the game go with the name whose weight is highest (or next-highest, or so on if the previous names are taken by existing Chosen or Forsaken). So, Reaper would have increased weight for low Morality and high Confidence Chosen, but it could also be influenced to a lesser degree by Innocence and Dignity scores. There will still be edge cases where a name might sometimes end up on a Core Morality Chosen and sometimes on a Significant Morality Chosen, but there shouldn't be very very few cases where it flips completely backward and ends up on both Core and Minor Chosen for a given Vulnerability.

Adding another layer of folders for whether the Chosen are male or not seems like a good idea. It should be simple enough.

Regarding my own suggestions for portraits, all I can say is that I'm partial toward girls in glasses.
I need to do it again to confirm it but in my campaign mode run the first loop I had Fury who was a red personality type with a minor in dignity and another character who's a blue that I'm blanking on right now but she had dignity as a significant vulnerability.

I did tempt-defeat for Fury and also broke her t4 innocence and dignity and I also defeated the blue with all of her t4 broken, fury ended up costing 7EE or 8EE to deploy and the blue (I think her name was Faith?) She was 12 EE to deploy I believe

I think its tied to not only if the chosen has their dignity fully broken since dignity is tied to disgrace but also possibly what type of vulnerability is their dignity? I also want to see if them being defeated via tempt also impacts this as well as their Overall angst when they're defeated.

I will run some experiments when I have some free time and if I come across some reliable results I don't mind sharing what I learned since before campaign I didn't put much thought how a chosen's corruptions impacts their forsaken stats other than more corrupted chosen = more corrupted forsaken XD
I can give a more specific answer here to save you the trouble of testing. The starting Disgrace score for one of the Forsaken is equal to 1/3 her base SHAM susceptibility. So, for Core Dignity Forsaken, it ranges from 0 to 11. For Significant Dignity Forsaken, it ranges from 11 to 22. For Minor Dignity Forsaken, it ranges from 22 to 33. Then, it's increased by 10 points per tier of the highest Dignity break she's experienced. So, +40 for Total Dignity Break, +30 for if she's started using Striptease (regardless of whether T1 and T2 are broken), and so on. This means that the starting Disgrace score can range from 0 to 73.

In my most recent campaign playtest, I managed to get a Core Dignity Forsaken who hadn't had any Dignity breaks at all. She had only 1% Disgrace and cost 933 EE to deploy.

I'm wary of making special exceptions like this. Sometimes you want the explosion effect and I don't want players to have to remember a unique interaction that can stop it from happening. In any case, Drain Commanders are already really strong, and this would probably make them stronger overall.

Working on my PMMM image pack~ I'll probably only do Madoka, Mami, and Homura since those three are the ones I have in my team. It's a shame I can't let the whole Holy Quintet show up to get gangbanged but I imagine the engine as it is probably wouldn't handle that very well.

Right now I'm thinking that I'm going to use untransformed Madokas for her civilian pics, transformed Madokas for her regular pics, Madokami for Superior pics and Gretchen for her Foresaken pics. Unfortunately I don't really have anything comparable for Mami or really Homura - Homulily works for Forsaken but Homura doesn't really have a godmode.

these aren't really tested but...

- use their extra mitigation to push for temptation as they are safer from using the special reduction of hate and injury

- if she is too difficult, then actually try to ignore her (?) and them come back when you have the rest of the team with high expo

I'm currently making a portrait pack. If have more than one picture for a facial expression, for example named anger1 and anger2, would the game cycle between them? Or will it only use the highest ordered name, disregarding the others that contain "anger" in its file name?
