I don't care if she wants to date other guys. I can't fuck the majority of my offspring anyway. My problem is that they did it in a half-assed and purposefully unentertaining way. But not with a guy who repeatedly said I would never belong no matter what I did, while my daughter apparently has no problem with that. I wouldn't care so much if they didn't make you go through the trouble of investing so much time into her if her later interactions were gong to suck this much.

Seriously, who my daughter want's to marry isn't really a problem, the problem is her fiance treating me, at worst, like i'm garbage that shouldn't be there, and at best, like i`m not really welcomed there, and when i question Kinu about her fiance she get's all defensive and shit like that, in real life that would ring all kinds of alarms in my head, sure, the quests you get from Nakano should eventually get you accepted in the kitsune society in a way, but it`s not about me getting accepted, is about me accepting someone as my daughter`s fiance.
But most of all, i would have liked for her and her fiance to be more open about discussing their future and relationship and how all that would fit, specially when their culture has so much weight on the parents accepting said relationship.
Because it's in Kiyoko's content, where Kiyoko talks about how "she'll be married off soon as well" and such. You can't just "not read it" when it's in other character's content.
I just wanted slutty fox wife without having to read about how our daughter wants to be/is getting fucked constantly. But The Observer is an asshole who wanted this to happen so he makes sure he puts the content everywhere having to do with Kiyoko or Kinu.

The way this shit reads its like They desperately want to fuck Kinu but can't so they're living out there fantasies with her husband and accusing us of being jealous for having a problem with it.
The thing is since there is only two choices and everything we do results in one or the other so it feels more like we choose who fucks her then her choice meta wise. And ingame wise our character is so removed the events at times for no reason. My character is a freedom fighter, she would not be okay with the Kitsune Aristocrats and would not just leave once she found out how much time passed and how it affected her daughter. The amount of gatekeeping and railroading on this could be fine if it was shorter but its a massive chunk of Kitsune stuff with is a massive part of the early game. Why must we pay such a price to help someone?

The Kiyoko content in general is painfully scripted. You have to have a dick, you have to fall head over heels for Kiyoko (there's no "evil" way to do it, using her vulnerable position to negotiate terms or anything interesting like that), you have to have kids with her and then you have to do the kid content in specific ways.
If he wanted to write a novel that's fine, but this is a game and a game should give you ways to play it. His content is so scripted and inflexible that it doesn't even allow you the priviledge of seeing it if you don't play it the way he wants you to. No one else's content is like that.
That's the general problem with his content. The plotting and scenarios are interesting (if entirely inflexible) and based on reading the forum once in a while he'll go on at length about all the research he did to write it given half a chance but his actual technical skill as a writer - things like dialogue, characterization, prose, the nitty-gritty stuff - is -so- amateurish.
He wants the player to feel alienated in kitsune society but he does it through these hamfisted scenes with characters who're unbelievably obnoxious to drive the point home. Or with Garret he'll have him say 25 times in a single paragraph that he's not getting along with daddy very well.
If the small picture stuff was better then, as you're saying, these interactions with the fiance could have the awkwardness of having to deal with a future son-in-law who's kind of a self-absorbed cunt in a society where you're an outsider glossed over by trying to find common ground with him and re-connecting with your daughter and learning to see him through her eyes (or just getting the sense that she's marrying for status). But there's no subtlety to the actual scenes, they just beat you over the head with it and then you can't even meaningfully participate in them. They happen -at- you.
