Depends on what we're talking about. As long as the thing they don't like isn't something so outlandish that you have to be into it to "get it", they should have zero issue writing for scenes that aren't necessarily their favorite thing in the world. What kind of hack writer sucks at writing things they aren't obsessed with? Passion can motivate you to write more, but it's not like it is some magical amplifier to your literary prowess. If anything, staying within your comfort zone too much will just make you a worse writer. Just look at Tobs. He spent so much time smelling his own farts in his little kitsune fort that it rotted his already fragile brain.

I mean yeah the scenes in LT are kinda doodoo asscheeks in terms of actually getting off. I don't think I've ever actually beat my meat to that game.

Yes, that game's sex system is utter shit and I am not going to pretend it isn't. A porn game where you don't have anything to jack off to might as well not be a porn game. Writing quality and variety aside, CoCII is a better porn game only by the virtue of actually having sex scenes instead of sex simulators. You can at least sodomize yourself to it.

I guess that's why CoC2 sort of... became what it is. You have a group of writers with... honestly pretty basic and limited fetishes that didn't really change or evolve over time, and staying too much within their own comfort zone because it's what the audience wanted. In fact, I'd argue it just gave them more confidence to continue going this route because almost nobody loud in the audience was demanding anything else. They would eat another generic futa/dickgirl that dominates them and acts like a mommy and feel like the more of those characters the better.
Honestly, I kinda understand the temptation. I mean, if the audience really really liked your kitsune dommy mommy wife and wants more of her, why not make an entire village of people of her race? Start focusing on the lore and your amazing original characters, since people liked her so much. It's hard to measure how many people stay for the porn and how many for the story and everything else, right? So might as well put your entire village from one of your childhood fantasies into this popular project that is getting a lot of attention!
This might a very weird that that will result in people here telling me to touch grass, but honestly, looking at CoC2 under the lens of being a massive pervert who can probably explain most tags on nhentai, I kinda think... it's a very normal game, fetish wise? It's not the most normal, obviously - that goes to all Vanilla/NTR/Drama/Wish-fulfillment stories that rarely touch obscure fetishes. I think the exact same way. The weirdest CoC2 gets is like maybe one or two tentacle scenes and some cumflation. I go on nhentai/exhentai for 2 seconds and see a girl getting raped by insects and a loli futa collaring her own mother. The funny thing is - to make CoC2 more varied we don't even need to go this far imo. Literally type "Fate" on any hentai hosting website and the variety of themes, genres and fetishes for Fate Grand Order, a freaking mobile game that has over 300 characters at this point and despite that there is so much different characters and scenarios with them that it would put CoC2 to shame.

I guess it depends on your pov, I'd say it's not that bad in the grand scheme of things when you compare it to the average game that ends up on this site, I'd even put it as one of the better ones when you look at the sea of games using 3DCG and now AI that are bottom of the barrel.
I think the reason why this game gets people malding more than some russian 3DCG incest VN is that no one expects anything from those games while coc2 has enough to it that can get some people invested and raise the expectations to something the game isn't able to meet, if you go in with low to moderate expectations you can have a decent time with the game
There's plenty of catgirls but they're not the majority of the content if that's your specific problem(unless by catgirls you mean monstergirls that are just animal ears+tails as in that case there's quite a few), yeah you can bang and romance the demon and there's a lot of content in general if you're a 1st time player
Honestly a lot of the worst stuff people complain about this game is specific writing choices that wouldn't mean anything to someone that hasn't played it like a particular writer that's super verbose about his weeb fantasy foxgirl culture
Duderino above summerised it pretty well. If you go into it expecting a collection of loosely interconnected erotic stories attached to a serviceable combat system then it's pretty alright. If you're expecting a strong, immersive and above all consistant narrative then you're gonna have a bad time. My main advice would be to pay attention to who is writing each scene, if you find some you like then use the wiki to try and track down other stuff they've done and if you can't stand them then just skip past it, you won't be missing much and the quest log is generally pretty good at keeping you on track.

I'm mostly dislike typical "catgirl" personality, just like jelly girls in TiTS its the ditzy "give me some milk" personality that makes me cringe, the annoying thing about this developer is that there is a plot in the sex scenes(just like in Games of Thrones lol), so i cant be sure when to just skip the scene or maybe they will talk about something interesting during it.
Hopefully there is still some TF tho, TiTS feels like has even more TF then old CoC, so i dont see why they would limit it here, that like selling point of the series.

The transformations were scaled back because it was too difficult for the team to track them. They also removed at least one transformation because the writers weren't writing enough content for it.
