To answer that. "How far deep in this garbage bin has you been?" If you are in the "This is all for now" you should red more closely to get the reason.

BUT.

TLDR; Cait is the true MC, you are just a thirdwheel that only use is being her Deus-Ex machina trigger. She's not your companion (YOU are the companion), You're stuck with her until you get the waif healer garment (or be a white mage). MOST of the content is locked with her.She's the "nosy hag" of the team. She's the main reason of why you can't enjoy vanilla content.

And more. Raf-Raf get a jug of poison for the lore you're about to unleash.

I mostly agree with everyone's 'dislike' (understatement) of Cait.

BUT, trying to be objective, when you boil it down to basics, she is an ideal companion for a porn game (at least on paper).
(She doesn't take things too seriously & she's down to fuck pretty much anything - and then she gives her religion as part of the excuse - all perfect for this type of game where you fuck everyone you meet & every defeated enemy - basically I have to acknowledge that those traits are ideal for this type of game)

-That said, that doesn't make her an ideal waifu, it makes her your best buddy or whatever.

I don't outright hate her, but I agree that the way she's written, does not mesh well with the traits I've mentioned above.
Hard to romance a character like that (ie an actual relationship ie, Brienne).

I usually leave her at home & take the elf instead (I'm holding out a vain hope that we'll be able to get rid of a certain appendage eventually - maybe we'll have to rely on mods? )

P.S. the other incredibly stupid thing I recall them doing (my memory is not the best so pls fill in blanks/correct) is having Cait say she's saving anal virginity for her special someone (?) & then they turn around & have it taken in a combat loss scene (?)!
I don't know if it was involuntary or not (don't remember), and it may make sense as a loss scene,
but implementing the loss scene before giving players a chance to take it themselves, was just guaranteed to piss a lot of people off.

If they had let the player have the sex scene with Cait (the option), then implemented the loss scene (people preferring the loss scene could just make sure not to take Cait's virginity & trigger the loss scene first)
That way everyone's happy.

To be honest, I actually liked Cait as a character in the beginning. The promiscuity bothered me none since it's a porn game after all. What I don't like about her, and by extension the entire game, is that the player is never in control at all. What does it matter if what I seek is power fantasy? What if I just don't want to build the bloody temple? I shouldn't have content locked because of it.

Hell, I can't even be corrupted proper last time I played this game. It's literally just being a bit more of an asshole and kick some people into evil juice. And now there's the option to join in on the child-grooming fun. Huzzah!

I'm going to play the Devil's Advocate and argue that the majority of players aren't predisposed to the idea of an Open Relationship. So a character like Cait would sound terrible for an actual romantic interest for many people. I mean would you date your character knowing full well that they are allowed multiple sexual/romantic partners and you can't.

It kind of begs the question, would Cait be more desirable if we as a society didn't lean heavily on monogamy as it did?

Earlier stages of the game when the devs are talking about "endings" back in me lurking in their forums trying to hold my sanity intact before inevitably getting banned for losing it.

I already lost interest the moment I heard there's a Cait path...
And the funniest part is that they said Cait will only get pregnant in her fucking ending, the cliche VN endings where the MC and whatever heroine he chooses will get together with a "Fin" bullshit they keep doing.

I'm about to lose it even harder now.

If you are talking about tutorial stuff, she was not really presented as a waifu of any kind or as a whore. She was just presented as a girl that needed help.
