It just feels abrupt to me in some of the scenes. Particularly the orgy, it makes it sound like there's another page of fun, but nope. Plus a few scenes come off as submissive after playing up how they're basically under your command. Petting Aesgir is a good example of this where they get upset with you for calling them a good puppy and not in a bratty way, but effectively telling you not to do it again or else. Then it comes off as your character being excited about the prospect of being punished, but at least it leaves it up to you. Just feels a bit dissonant to me.
I mean ain't that in the core DNA of this game? Your character but molded for someone else's personality, wants and desires on a whim. The champ wants to do everything, with you being the only reason they aren't allowed to you monster! Don't you see? Your champ wanted to be a sub. You as the horrible player having to make decisions every once in a blue moon. Are the one dashing their dreams of being a bottom. And not even a power bottom. They just want to take it all!

I'm not sure who's TOBS' worst character but I hate their habit of creating a problem and then saying the mc/player is powerless to help. What's the point in bringing up the problem if there's no solution? I get Savin is against "power fantasy" but TOBS takes it to the next level by making situations where the player wants to help but saying that you can't and that feels awful.

It's part of why I don't free Kikiyo from the orb and keep my interactions with most Kitsune content to a minimum. The cute interactions with Kino turns to shit so I've decided to just not go down that route. Why you'd shit on a wholesome scenario by making one parent feel left out on important decisions(engagement) in her life makes absolutely no sense to me. Why interact with the Kitsune when all but 2 act like they hate your guts? Why would I waste my time with characters/content like that?

TObs is one of those cases that just plain shows how absolutely incompetent Savin is as a project manager. When it comes down to it, as a leader, you need to put your foot down on some matters and very plainly set a few things in stone. The PC in this game is a mess that changes from writer to writer to the point where they look like a schizo when looking at it from the outside. They're either the world's greatest ace or a bumbling moron who can't do shit right.

Somehow the mc in this game is written less consistently than TiTS' eventho that game has 3 different personality scores.

I like being able to explore open worlds and flying to different planets. Plus, I kinda like science fiction so I really can't complain.

Most of the main settlements look amazing in their own right like New Atlantis with its Sci-Fi utopia aesthetic, Akila City with its rugged wild west feel, and Neon's cyberpunk vibe.

I've grown to like some of the character's like Barrett's friendly laid-back personality, Sam Coe's cowboy look and that he's voiced by the actor who voiced Adam Jenson from Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Vasco.

Being able to customize your own ship was a nice touch, plus I've seen people made some cool looking ships online.

And I like some of the side missions like one has you investigating an "alien" ship above a paradise planet while another has you going to a different planet and meeting famous historical figures like FDR.

I like to think I'm an optimist.
Okay, those are valid points. I too liked the ship customization (but that's about it lol). Keep being an optimist, that's a good thing... :)

Looking at last review, apart from it glazing this more than a donut factory, maybe im too jaded but i feel like some people review the game based on their idealised imagined version of the game, also either i had a stroke or something because for love of me i cant understand the kinks section of their "review".

The kink section made me laugh. Very Oversimplified-esque, "You better believe there's a tax kink for that" and all.

And to be fair, we're at a porn piracy site. I wouldn't expect academical reviews from people that may or may not have just relieved themselves over an encounter with a futa.

I loved the game I was literally addicted to it a few years ago but it takes me having to have nothing else on my mind to really get into it. Compared to a lot of other games out there it's very limited. I have no issue with the writing like others, my issues with the game stem from it being so limited. I want to have unique and bountiful housing options, like the ability to live in a hut, cave, manor, castle. I want to be who I want to be, whether that is a price, king, general, or a random blacksmith, I want to build a family, recruit anybody as a follower, have anybody as a lover, etc.

The dev keeps on adding content upon more content with no game changing features like these. The content is great but the fact that the game gives the player barely any freedom/agency many other games give just leaves me feeling so empty at the end. I'm planning on making my own version of this type of game that is focused on features over content. Hopefully one day I can sit down and play it and feel fulfilment

Steele benefits from traits that help narrow down what should be done with them. They can sub to every kind of dick in existence, but the story still has to respect the fact they're a genetically engineered corporate heir motivated by family legacy, not some directionless nobody who wandered into a tavern one day. They've cultivated the image of a suave starship captain slutting it up across the stars that most people have in their heads -- with some variations here and there.

Meanwhile, CoC2's MC's backstory is more open-ended but doesn't have that strength of continuity. This results in writers having more of an avenue to run roughshod over the character and swing the personality pendulum farther between the extremes of charismatic hero and futa doormat.

Wait wah? What you mean?? You don't like picking the choice to have sex. That leads to sex with the person, their family, the next door neighbors, becoming a dom chocking bitches, then a sub for little spoon when it's time to cuddle? Or getting a choice between left or right door. Either one leading to kicking it open, running upstairs, doing a barrel roll into the next building through a window, fighting a group of people, sparing one because reasons, then going to take a nap? And at the end of both scenarios, getting the option to leave, stay, or go back? There were TWO whole places to make a choice throughout those situations! The start and end! What more agency and freedom could you want???

But no really, this game would benefit if there wasn't so much stuff in-between choices. Would help curb (maybe... probably not much.... idk) the writers self-inserting themselves into our shoes. Making us do things we wouldn't otherwise. I mean when they not using the NPCs for that purpose ofc. But as much as I shit talk, I do agree with you. I do like the scenes/content in general. But... I don't know. Would be nice to get a chance at the steering wheel more often. You know? Wiggle it around a little. Maybe swerve into oncoming traffic a lil bit. Honk the horn a few times. Feel like a big boi driving before they take it away again.

The backstory of Steele helps sure. But it mostly helps by giving Steele something to pull from when the various denizens ask about their past.

Tobs is lost in their own writing talent. Ages ago I got a bit of pushback when I said that tobs is terrific and environments or setting a scene. I'm going to stand on that statement again.

As Tobs skills continue to improve, this problem only gets worse.
Tons of talent. Little discipline.

I'll say the game gives players more freedom than 95% of games out there, but only after he/she gets past the linear-ness of the questing, and then like you said, even when you get to the content you we're looking for, sometimes the writers/dev self-inserts into the player's shoes and makes choices very A or B.

Modded Skyrim and other text rpgs like Course of Temptation have spoiled me to be honest. You pretty much get to do anything you want with whoever you want, whenever you want as long as you've put in the time and effort. And if the content isn't there, you can just mod it/mod it some more/find the mod you want to add the stuff you want. If you don't like the content (Cait lmfao or Merielle not being recruitable or romanceable), you can just change it.

Unfortunately, with this game, I'm at the devs wishes, and I'll never get to recruit the girls who I want as followers/level up my relationship with them. Which is why I just flat out gave up on it lol

If this game ever gets finished and we get some modding tools, I'd be more than willing to take a hatchet to some of the content and fully rewrite it to be less insuferable (like the Kitsune).
Good luck going through 2 million words of tobs slob.
I wish people would mod this with different content:
Let me kick Kalysea's butt, stick it to the kitsune, add another companion (einin), banish gweyr forever or take the dragon spear for myself ,instead of having to give it to two people I don't like.
Hell let me do anything cool.
But who would write that? Who would take the time and do these huge undertakings?
A man can only dream...

"Power fantasy? In my fantasy porn game?? Absolutely not!"

Really, gotta wonder what the actual hell goes through someone's head to reach the conclusion that, when it comes to your fantasy porn game, players shouldn't be the baddest motherfuckers around. Likely wind.

Definitely just wind, blowing in one ear and out the other. I assume the natural variations in wind speed and direction are what imitate something approaching brain activity

While I can see where you're coming from and I do think he can create vivid imagery, I don't think that alone makes him a good writer. That scene is very nice but the issue is it's an oddity. There is a purpose in the descriptions and prose when in the vast majority of TOBS writing there just kind of isn't. Like what is the purpose of describing the lacquer of the wood on one of the priestess's fans? What is the point of writing an entire page describing a single tile of the fox den? And this isn't even mentioning how the flow of his scenes is fucking horrendous and he has george lucas-tier dialogue. Compound all that with the fact that none of his ideas are even very novel or interesting and I just really don't see it.

Anybody can learn how to describe things given enough effort. Not everybody can nail dialogue, characters, pacing, creativity, and everything else that comes with writing. Hence why I think he's just mid-tier at best.
