That's kinda the point of DoL. If you look deeper into what the town is all about it's got social and political commentary to the nines, except everything and their mother wants to fuck you. Education is highly valued and will net you more jobs where you won't have to steal or become a prostitute. Refuse to take part of the insanity yourself and become an outcast by your peers.
It's also important to note when your character becomes traumatized the truths of the world are being revealed to them, the therapist just makes you docile enough to be presentable. Human minds can't understand the eldritch horrors on the other side or how depraved people actually are.
It's satire at it's finest.

Throughout playing the game, if you explore enough you'll start piecing together what the tiny harbor town is underneath. The criminals get aprhodisiacs and pump it everywhere. They also ship and sell it on the docks, sell it to the rich, and you can even help a Love interest on the farm to start selling it yourself. The town is famous for being loose on morals, and people from across the sea come there to partake in the hedonism. Your education is influenced to be lewd, and your classmates think your weird for not being that way either.
The rich dominate everything, partaking in their darkest fantasies while exploiting those on the lower totem pole. Crime lords sell people like cattle, while trying to not step on the others toes. Corrupt cops abusing their power by making defending yourself with pepper spray illegal. The orphanage you grew up in is nothing more than a front, your caregiver uses every single one of you for financial gain.

But in seriousness, idk it's just blegh. It's uninspired and takes the most mundane qualities from both sides. The most flair to it is a couple of olive branches and the color red. Idk maybe chalk it up to personal preference, but if you're going to mash together two different culture's infantries then let more of their cultures show too. Maybe don't make the shield a Germanic one, give it some real Legionary scutum shape and style. If you're going with a more Grecian helm, give it the Roman flavor not the Macedonian one.
It's a very confused design, with clear inspirations from Greece, Rome, Japan, and Germanic Tribes. It's just very... confused. That isn't to say I don't like what they were going for, any mishmash of any of the above is bound to look cool. But keep it focused, this lacks focus entirely. And now that I'm really looking at it... is he also wearing a gambeson??
Not to mention that he has leather pauldrons and bracers, but brass/bronze greaves? Like I understand having your chest be brass/bronze and your extremities being leather, but what is going on there?? And at first I was like, "Oh wait, that makes sense. You have a tall shield, so in a shield wall your shins are still good." But wrong! The shield is too short, and he's already crouching a bit.Idk, it just makes my brain unhappy to look at basically. Not to knock DCL though, they still draw way better than I ever could lol
Guys, is there a way to see a sources for this game? I think that foothill statue sequence is bugged, cause i can't see some dreams at all.

I wished they would've used a Dendra Panoply style armor instead. That way I can easily end combat encounters because enemies would just die laughing once they see Quint.Funny set though
