Hot take I also want monster ppl to act like monster ppl not ppl playing cosplay, you know what I mean? Its not the Horse-talk talking, I'm bored with writers and game divs, creating these monster people. And they're just people with animal faces. It's there's nothing that is otherworldly about them. You know what I mean like? Why does the lizard man think like a human being? He should think like a lizard that is on human intelligence. That doesn't mean he's going to think like a human. He's just using a higher form of thinking. That's barely displayed. You have to go into specific literature to find that type of shit.

This issue of course, is writing it in the context of CoC II. I don't think any of the writers are capable of writing a non-human intelligence in any sort of meaningful way without it instantly breaking immersion and reverting back into cosplay. I myself would struggle to write something of that caliber. Not saying that's impossible to do, but in the context of adding it to a game with all the work that entails, I can see maybe one or two characters or races acting like that.

When you say a lizard man should think like a lizard, what exactly are we talking about here? There's a variety of different lizards with varying degrees of intelligence. For example, monitor lizards are so intelligent that you can actually train them like you would a dog. I guess we could say that lizard thinking is like the old theory of the "lizard brain", basal thoughts with an emphasis in instinctual behaviors like aggression, dominance, territoriality, etc.

I do sort of see your point though. I would like a bit more variety on how the different races think. We sort of get a smidge of this with the Kitsune, but not really? Mostly because it's not really due to their species that they think the way they do but their culture. Hmm... Now you got me curious as to how the races we got in game could vary in the way they think and perceive the world.

Ah, good ol' David Huggins. There's just something offputting about the Greys he paints. Dunno, guess it's the giant black eyes and smile. Hits right in the uncanny valley and if they are real it's one of those things where I hope I never see them. As nice as having a qt Ayy waifu sounds and fucking giant Grey Amazons, (That's something David actually claims to have happened.) plus having an Insectoid constantly watching us in the corner while we get freaky has got to be awkward as hell.

If anyone wants to see the documentary on him, it's called "Love and Saucers" and is free on YouTube and only an hour long. There's nothing really compelling if you don't believe in aliens or UFOs so don't waste your time if that's what you're looking for. I'm a schizo that is into shit like that, so it's just interesting entertainment for me.

It is very much possible, so there is this trash manga. I don't remember the name. I haven't read it in years. But the most memorable thing is that it took animal psychology and implemented it into the monster ppl. You don't have to be an expert.

A good example of what I mean can be found in the West of Eden series of books by Harry Harrison. Its not smut but it is an interesting piece of fiction that scratches that itch to lizard ppl being lizard ppl.

Are there any other games like this that are primarily just narratively driven with small avatars and static illustrations with actual gameplay and stats that are this in depth but also finished?

I'll throw my hat in the ring of games I think may be enjoyable that may not be exactly what you're looking for but are narrative focused.
Love of Magic by Droid Productions - Urban fantasy game that has a rudimentary stat system and a neat combat mechanic. Also a good way to check if you'll enjoy his other two game in a similar vein in Morningstar and Wing of the Empire.
Monster Girl Quest by Torotoro Resistance - More classic fantasy that has almost surpassed it's reputation as a porn game due to the high level of narrative, basically no stats to speak of and combat is more in line with a puzzle while understanding what you have. Unless you're on Hard Mode then some of the fights you gotta pray for some good luck not a lot but some and you can change difficulty after any loss.
Once Ever After by Sierra Lee - RPGM game that is centered around fairytale worlds and the protagonist Ingrid who is the red riding hood of a pornographic parody story. Has a pretty interesting system where you take on archetypes to change stats and gain abilities a la jobs in more traditional rpgs.
And finally, my goat, my favorite a game I have spent over 200 hours with:
The Last Sovereign by Sierra Lee - Another RPGM game, completely focused on an original world with its own rules that was recently finished, lots of choices that affect the world and have many consequences later, while the combat stats themselves are the normal staples the sheer amount of party members allow for lots of fun combinations, also a very active discord that you can easily ask questions as a new player.

Definitely wasn't just looking to recommend TLS, definitely not because it is in contention for my favorite game of all time.

Dedicking would be fun. Certainly have the Kinu quest undone to replace it with child Kinu being a fun kid on the tree or at the Wayfort.

Do something proper with the mercs since they do have some good on them, even with the sucker-punching albatross they have hanging around their necks.

Have Kasyrra's intro be less "I want your holes" and more befitting of someone that should be a romantic interest for normal people. Well aware that what she did was probably hot for Savin, but the game's apparently meant to be played by more people so that doesn't work.

Do some promotion and relegation with the party members. Quin hasn't really contributed anything of worth, so he's in the chopping block unless remade to actually be useful. Bring some fave options in like Garth's kid and Berwynn. Relegate the bee girl or promote the lesbian knight with the requirement that her sudden relationship is developed more properly and not just pops into being.

I'd also have less strict rules towards character writing. Just have some proper guidelines for every character, so they're not too far off whenever another writer's able to work with them and make sure you're not just rejecting content because it's not your fetish. That and, with all due respect, this game's not a Shakespearean play, you don't need to have absurd high standards.

If we separate the culture for a bit and think in terms of races themselves, a couple things can easily appear. And then the culture can be remolded to make more sense. I'll try to give my take on some.

Kitsune - of course tricksters and shapeshifters, loving to fool around with you and NOT xenophobic. Most are sociable and willing to help, but some being malicious or even plain evil. May prefer monogamy and nature. Honestly CoC ones were a serviceable base for development. The world is their plaything.

Lupines - ferocious and territorial, but get friendlier once the community accepts you. Strong oral tradition and a firm sense of justice. Predatory nature means they need to get off some of that steam either by brawls or fucking. Most would probably be nomadic? They'd rather build communities than conquer.

Catfolk - laidback smoothtalkers, not interested in getting their hands too dirty. They easily meld into other communities, but once there, some are known to cause trouble and crime, not rarely becoming gang leaders or just shady entrepreneurs. Don't need no temple of harlots as most are quite promiscuous. They would probably take over countries if they didn't compete so much.

Lizardmen - I immediately thought of Argonians, admittedly. Using their aptitude for water and sneaking, they're great explorers, assassins, hunters and scouts. Assuming they lay eggs, children could either be raised by parents, forming strong connection, or more often by the community, leading to greater solidarity. This may also mean that they are of few words, while meeting others, since outsiders are almost never on the same level of familiarity. If possible, they travel outside in groups, settling in damper regions. Being in the cold region makes them sleepy, almost lethargic. (also they didn't even bother to make a race description for Pavo's race)

Game's still missing a ghost-type possession character or something like parasites from TiTS. Or living armor. Still missing an option to get past the alraune without fucking. Still missing basic primary, secondary, and tertiary colors from character customization. The sheep race TF turns you into a full-blown furry when the race itself is just a semi-heavy kemonomimi. Still missing a starting cunning race. Barely any eggnancy content or male suitors. The only male follower worth giving even a moment of your time to is Brint (there's only two.) Evergreen really should be expanded on. There's no yandere/stalker-type characters...

I didn't mind the kitsunes being xenophobic. I hate that I could not react to them being xenophobic.
It is your taste because I can see that you're just tailoring it to what you like. But i'm more of a big picture type, right? Sure, I want some of the things that I like in there. But I want to involve things that would naturally occur for that setting, not stuff I cherry pick, you know what I mean?
