I can't speak for other writers, but to me, the PC is just another character. A quite bothersome characters due to all the variables and a hard to define personality. Couple that with having to write for girl PCs when I prefer gay stuff.

When I write voeur scenes in my projects they are basically treats to myself since I can focus on things that I personally find attracrive.

The problem there is that PC is the foundation of the game and the PC having a lot of parsers/variables is also the foundation. The personality part could be solved if the lead game designers actually wrote down what the possible options or a guideline for the personality of the PC, and actually adhered to it.
Or if the writers actually did build-up and set-up scenes so the PC can choose how to react to or interact with the content and scenes.

Because this have been always been a problem for these kind of games when no one actually tries to define the PC or makes it so they can be designed, the PC being the most important character in the game.
Shit game design is what it is.

Now you got writers just making what ever content they want even if might cause narrative and/or personality whiplash because that's the easy option. It's not about what would make this good, better, or healthier. It's about what things could be published that they are interested in and often that is done regardless PC interests.
Why put in the extra work when even the main writing team just does what ever they want, even more so when it might be unpaid or the people paying could just pay for more sex instead of build-up or set-up.

I know this is going to sound really entitled and douchy but... If you don't want to write for the PC, maybe you shouldn't be writing for a 2nd person RPG. Yeah, yeah, "parsers and variables", but I mean... Is that really an issue? Aside from what gender the PC is, I don't think anyone really bothers to take into account any other aspect of the PC. They sure as hell don't account for your race, or your junk other than if you got a penis or not. Maybe once in a blue moon they'll add a blurb if you're corrupt or not.

I think the real issue is writing for the PC's personality. Which I can sympathize, you probably have nothing to go off of other than normal Champ is a good guy and corrupt Champ is a bad guy, with no degree of any other trait other than the backgrounds no one accounts for. This is why it's like reading a different character each time you go from one writer to another.

I think considering that this issue has persisted since the beginning of the game's development, there's no shame in just joining the crowd and putting your own spin on the PC. It's something that's never going to get fixed anytime soon, so you might as well forget trying to get perfection out of imperfection. Look, as long as you write the PC in a manner that doesn't put words into their mouth, that doesn't speak for them before you go press the "sit in cuck chair" button, I'm fine.

Let me reiterate I'm not asking for you or anyone to stop writing what they want to write. I'm mostly trying to pick your brain over what makes you feel writing the PC is so difficult or not worth it. If you want to just spend your time writing NPC x NPC threesomes, while I would probably roll my eyes at it, it wouldn't matter to me if it all wasn't crammed into one update. I get you don't got control over that- it's Savin once again being an incompetent dickwad. Doesn't mean I can't lament that it has to be this way.

I agree so much with this, so much of the stand out content that seem overly indulgent, out of place, inconsistent, give whiplash, etc. on the writer's part just seems like they said "who cares about the PC this is what I want" and that's how there is content like minotaur captain lady where they go from writing one thing then jumping to the other extreme with no build up. Or most notably saying the PC is into something even when they haven't did it all game, Suddenly! the PC likes dick, anal, thinks their impressive, and etc.

But some serious talk on these voeur scenes from someone that enjoys writing them. There are several reasons why people enjoy them.

- People want to see two characters that isn't the PC have sex

- People like the voeur aspect and having two followers "perform" is a kink.

- They are fun to make from a writers perspective. You get to pair up two characters you find hot while not having to bother with the PC's one million parsers.

To be honest crab-sama, I don't really fear the chair, otherwise I wouldn't play other games with the same kind of stuff. Having said that I don't really get the appeal of two npcs performing, sometimes is fun, sometimes, but others is just meh. I think that's tied to almost everyone in the setting being a slut, so there's no emotional connection to them, I don't really care if this or that npc fuck each other

I feel the whole deal would be a lot more palatable if the PC was allowed to travel alone, and I mean, for the PC to be self reliant instead of depending of a party to survive. That way the saturation that comes with jumping from sex encounter to sex encounter that makes me skip stuff wouldn't bother me so much, I wouldn't have them with me all along. With TiTs I get whatever relationship the captain might have with the crew to be much more casual, and enjoyable. I don't get the same feeling with CoC2

I struggle with parsers because I find them confusing, as in I am not good with computers and making parsers that doesn't break is difficult. I also think they are an eyesore to look at while editing.

Mmm, I can understand that. IIRC a lot of other writers and I think even Savin himself have said the parser system is a pain in the ass. I'm not too sure/familiar with how it's handled in the other games, especially post-Flash TiTs. I do know that all the games have spaghetti code from what I've heard and really probably could've been developed/debloated better.

I've only had a handful of coding experience and it's writing mods for Paradox games, so I'm not at all knowledgeable with regards to Javascript.

The problem is there are way too many chairs and as a result if we don't wanna sit we don't get much to do comparatively. It's an rpg so in theory we or our oc should be the focus. That can be understandably hard to write for even with a big budget and team but the solution the game has settled on is making everyone else the star and our role reduced to the camera in a porno. I'm not saying no voyeur or cuck content should be added as that's obviously a genre some people like. But it's so disproportionately in favor of that content and in overloading on that front it directly contradicts the rpg premise. Plus I'm tired of being told my character is basically nowhere near as amazing as all these others.

At this point you can start the game and select not do shit button in the intro and get the joke bad end and the narrative wouldn't change. Hell I don't even play a character with a peen but the game seems to think I'm competing with Brint in a dick measuring contest. My dick in game and irl is negative four inches, if you wanna compete with me on that you must have the world's worst handicap. Compensating so bad they gotta compete against a transwoman just to win and feel better.

Good thing Brint isn't real. Dunno why they keep referencing a nonexistent character. The only minotaur companion in the game is Brienne. These April Fools updates get exhausting.
