Besides, at the end of the day you can just. say. no. and the whole thing is shut down. I'll never understood why it's perceived as such a big deal with people.
It's in no way foreshadowed that she's going to treat Liaden better than the MC. That's why people have a problem with it. If it was just a throuple where all 3 of you could have sexy fun times together, nobody would mind.
It really seems to me that people should stop projecting onto their PC so much if something like that in a porn game can upset them. It's bordering on incel shit.
Telling people to not self-insert themselves when the MC is made for this explicit purpose is... I'm just gonna say silly to avoid being mean. You are designed to role play these games. You are designed to put yourself in the shoes of the MC. You completely tailor their name, appearance, fighting style, morals, and relationships. The game is written in the second person for crying out loud, of fucking course people are going to project onto the MC.

It's not incel shit to feel miffed when a friend turns around and starts treating you like the third wheel whenever their SO is brought up. That's basically what happens with Azy.

Also I forgot, people just get attached to their characters. It's literally the only reason why Kiryu from Yakuza isn't in any fighting games, his creator Toshihiro Nagoshi doesn't want to see Kiryu beating up women. He's too attached to his character to make the free money that letting his character appear in a game like Super Smash, Tekken, or Street Fighter entails.

Obligatory Kiryu vid:

Yo if that were the case, I'd hate it even more. I mean, that sounds like the typical start of most IRL poly relationships (I hear about a lot of these) minus the threesome. One person some time into a relationship suddenly says they're poly, in reality, they have probably been sleeping around in secret but are tired of hiding it and want a free pass. The other person is seemingly ok with it, but actually isn't and can't leave because they are either: too attached or don't believe they can find anything better for some reason.
Lets say that in a 'what if' world core cleansing would take week.
After player picked it and handled it to Sanders he, player, have no reasons to visit hive again, until core is cleansed. Yes, its still possible to visit it, but even a good games (not what we have here right now) wont be tracking it, due to complexity that it will create for a writing/writers/character progression/etc. (3 visits? It require new scene!!! 10 visits? It should make hornet disappointed. 17 visits? It should piss off Azzy for not bringing up any news, besides 'working on it'). So the only point that should be 'recorded' after taking of core, to progress story/quest, is a "bringing cleansed core back". That's why/when 'buzzing insect' would become more acquainted with the 'paladin gf'.

I usually like to check the code on the side while I'm playing just to see what extra tidbits could be missing from the current scene (if statements and whatnot) and while I'm going through Lyric's stuff I find this shit

You're telling me this woman who is basically an adventurer like us, has been living in a world where most of the rape shit, sex cults, and sluttery has been happening since before even Kasyrra appeared didn't get SOME dick?
With the amount of bullshit going on in the game, that's the question you're asking? It's probably one of the most believable things about a character, especially a basic bitch human priestess or whatever. There's nothing wrong with lesbians i nthe game, or lesbian relationships between her and your companion. The issue is only ever with how it's done; how they meet, what content they have, what it changes for you, and obviously how it changes the companion.
Tbh I have no real idea what it even is about, as I skip over Liaden and Azzy content because I don't really care about a companion who you can't have a deeper relationship with (out of the ones that you can have, only one has any good content), that doesn't sleep around left and right on top of being 2nd-hand. I'll have to look into this because I always just skip over Liaden/Azzy bs because I have no interest in hearing of how a potential gf found herself a gf.

Wait, do people actually think that Pre-Sequel story was bad?
It wasn't horrible, just plot hole-y and fucky with the timeline and events a bit. Also, the real problem were stale dialogues, boring characters, even slower map traversal, and LOADS of backtracking. Like, holy fuck did you need to backtrack a lot in this game. Overall it was a worse BL2 with nonexistant villains, I don't even recall one boss from it and I've played it multiple times. It's just... worse, is all.

It's bordering on incel shit.
Dude, you're on a fucking porn games site. People come here to talk about weeb porn games, and descend into the comments to create big threads of discussion on writing, gameplay, philosophy. If you're coming here, and then jacking off to a damn text game, it's pretty damn hypocritical to call people incels for self-inserting into a character that is supposed to be a self insert by design, and getting attached and having certain feelings about characters made to have the player attach to them and have certain feelings.
And anyway, some guy wants his 20 inch tentacle cock to enter the rectum of any and every character he meets, other wants to transform into a demon and corrupt everything (content pending lmao), someone would like to form a bike rental with Cait, and I want a harem of wives waiting for me with big bellies while my futa char knocks up more cunts left and right.
It's all stuff people can't do irl, but can in the game. You want Jeff or other Kyle to go out in the streets and fight someone with a sword, hoping they'll hop on his cock afterwards?

I'm not saying people don't have good reasons to dislike the Azzy/Lia thing, and it could absolutely have been handled better, I'm just saying it doesn't bother me.

You have better way of dynamically changing string in specific places?
Yes. You could have some LyricHimHer/LyricHeShe/etc variables that are dependent on Lyric's gender flag, (or whatever it is that dictates their gender) and instead of making a shit ton of if statements all over the place, all you'd need to do is integrate those variables to the parser so that they print the corresponding string whenever they're called.

JS is not even the limitation here (if that's their excuse), it's just how their brains work.

On this part, it could have been resolved with a simple get_gender(bool female = false, int person = 1).
But I was referring more on the 'embedding calls into the plain text' part.

They wouldn’t have to do that (and it would indeed be better stylistically) if they used typographic apostrophes <’> for text, and kept typewriter apostrophes <'> for code.
TiTS already does this. It's insane how incompetent Savin is as a project lead. Can't imagine what the future of both projects looks like now that he's also in charge of both.

I just checked, they already do this. Lyric's char object has a heShe variable (which shows that the idea did cross their minds, but it seems they only partially implement it) that is only SELDOM used, so there's shit like this in the code

Code:
"So what now?" [lyric.mf|he|she] asks.\n \n Now, [lyric.mf|he|she] gets off you.\n \n "Oh!" [lyric.heShe] chirps. "Right. Sorry. Right."
You can't make this shit up.

...Is it bad I'm hoping their lazyness will kick in and they'll just copy-paste her sex scenes?
That would be the merciful option.
It's a porn game where the entire setting and point is about sexual openness.
Which is why several LIs are monogamous to you and show no sexual interest in other people. Which is why Cait goes out of her way to tell you she's not going to be exclusive, as if that's not just common sense. The point is that it wasn't set from the beginning so it comes out of nowhere if you're not interested in pursuing polygamous NPCs. Also, saying never to the date advice was not available from the beginning. If you refused it would just pop up again and that got annoying so I just did it and moved on from Azz. They only added the option way after the fact cause I guess they couldn't fathom you not being interested in a threesome you can't get involved in.
It really seems to me that people should stop projecting onto their PC so much if something like that in a porn game can upset them. It's bordering on incel shit.
Projecting in a RPG?! Couldn't be me.
