Context suggests this is a small prequel that serves as a demo to a larger game, much like the actual color trailers were for RWBY.

It's a prequel to a larger game. It's similar to a demo, but not a demo. Easiest way to explain it is that it's an completed demo game. Confusing but simple to explain.

The art between the first and second preview pics are incredibly different styles. Will this have any original art? Or will it just be stealing it from internet sources like so many others?

I'm not the best artist myself. Editing already existing stuff is the approach I'll take.
Of course that includes a lot of "borrowing" pics - at least for the CGs. But I'm giving my best to make the styles not too different.
Gladly there is enough in existince.
(Ruby with Grimm aren't the most common pics, so yeah... too much loli on the first one for my taste. But the setting for the main game will be human intercourse - or faunus at least. )

The sprites: That's done and damn, it was a pain.
A standing picture: I'm going to use some models of spnati.net
Special sex scenes: Simulators like "Koikatu" and "Custom maid 3D 2" offer a lot for that. But that would mean a lot of work and shift of style.

Honestly, RWBY deserves better than RPGM's shit combat. Or just no combat at all.

Combat won't be the focus of the main game. I was simply trying to recreate the original here.
