I will point this out as well, that there is more than just the UK and Great Britain which speak British English. There are a lot of Commonwealth nations. Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India (largest population on the planet), etc. which all speak British English. As an American - I can also take your point that it being British English vs American English, just not the quantity of native speakers.
Canadians speak Canadian English it's a distinct dialect, just like Australian English. The King doesn't get to claim the kids in this dispute. :p

LOL
come on guys, we all know that the so called "British English" is just the purest way for spellings and etc
and lets just ignore slangs so we dont take in POSH version.

but British English will take in American words when its something was newly created by American in first place unless its something that contradicts the rule of English language.
Basically Daniel Webster, took the Oxford English dictionary, and dropped the superfluous "U" from words (colour = color) and changed "s" to "z" (organise = organize) on some words .. there may have been some drops or adding of "E".

It was already polluted by the rule of French nobility and then changed more when the upper class started speaking with the posh accent to distinguish themselves from the nouveau rich. English has always been a Frankenstein's monster of a language.

That is one of the biggest pivot points yeah. It was a deliberate de-Britishing. Which would have probably happened on its own, but yah know some times you've got an axe to grind and the contacts to get a dictionary published.

Canadian here, our English is a weird incest baby between British English, American English, and a little bit of French. I would spell it 'cosy' here in Canada though
Accent wise a lot of younger Canadians sound almost indistinguishable to me from Americans, until they use certain words...

lol
that and old english are the language that are incorporated from surrounding areas at that time
please google for more detailed explanation
or just avoid it for those who already know the origin

I sadly know the differences as well. Not the medical terms, as I am not a doctor, but I grew up in the US K-3, Singapore for grades 4-9, US for 10-12. Fuck me running did that confuse the hell out of me till a damn college professor actually tell me the difference, because I thought I was going crazy. I learned "color" in 2nd grade, go to 4th grade and get it marked wrong because it was "colour". Then I learn all the British English and I go back to US high school, and then get marked wrong (and failed English class) because I am trying to re-learn to spell again, in 10th freaking grade. I finally went to college and they had the Grayhound as the mascot and I spelled it greyhound, and a prof said to me "You spell it like the British". I was like huh? and he explained it to me. I told him I grew up in in middle school in Singapore, and yep, he let my spelling slide. Organize, prioritize, randomize, and contextualize were all words that he used a lot in the class (computer programming).

As the game is set in the UK, made by a British guy it makes sense to me to have that spelling. I am also British though so....

I don't remember who first said it, but: The UK and the USA: two countries separated by a common language.

This story was going so well, I was having such a nice time with it, but then it took a sharp turn from cozy to gross with that whole debt/blackmail bit.

I really hope that gets dropped/resolved quickly, because if the person involved IS going to be integrated into the core group like it seems, I can't see how they could possibly have a good relationship with the rest if the dynamic continues.
Even if not, blackmailing and coercing into prostitution are not things good people would do; hell, with everything else we already know she's going through, pushing her even further and then mocking her for it is just cruel.

Just repeating what I've said about this before:
I completely disagree with the characterization of Catherine's situation as being coercive or exploitative. She's the one pursuing the relationship, not the MC, and she's doing it for entirely self centred reasons: to benefit from the MC's name and position. On its own that would be bad enough, but doing that and then constantly talking down to the MC and his girls in the process is completely unreasonable. Especially given how many times he has warned her, and how many times he has offered her a way out. So I think the MC trying to mould her into someone that could actually fit into the harem is his way of doing her an act of kindness, and I think she sees that too, because the entirely reasonable alternative would be telling her to pay the money she owes, then get the hell out and never come back.

I mean he isn't even blackmailing her, he's giving her an option to do it if she chooses. Her situation is shitty and I do feel for her but her behaviour has also been rude, haughty and arrogant. I'm looking forward to her mellowing and fitting in with the group but also getting the help she needs when that happens and she's brought back down to earth.
