[Thanks. Something about the wording struck me as very humorous., and I was giggling to myself the entire time I was editing the image.

Well again, I think there are some diamonds in the rough out there, and after a while you learn to ID the worst of the turds quicker and not waste as much time. But
even if old-school erotic fiction was better back in the day (and I'm not sure I agree because from what I remember that was usually pretty terrible stuff), I think you are sort-of missing the forest for the trees: AVNs are
visual novels that tell their stories with images and animations.
Since they are created by and for people from all over the world on the internet, devs are writing in all different languages and getting translated (often poorly) or writing in very limited non-native English. So expecting prose that is anything more than functional is probably unrealistic. But for many devs the script probably isn't even a Top 3 concern because the vast majority of their time & effort is spent on the nuts and bolts of the product - the coding and rendereing of the 'visual' and interactive components.
So I think expecting great writing and well-planned plots & dialogue is bringing unrealistic expectations with you. Those games do exist, but they are rare and gather lots of fans to them, fans that are protective of the gems they know they have found (like this one). My suggestion is to keep searching because there are other good ones out there. But like every woman I've ever dated, you probably will have to learn to lower your standards a little bit.
