If "good" is a preference, then he may as well not have said anything, because if you assume it was just preference, he already said he didn't like it, so "good" writing wouldn't have added anything to the story. I believe it's not a good idea to confuse personal ability to judge quality with preference. Just because they're both subjective doesn't make them mean the same thing.

If "good" is being able to convey the thoughts and feelings of the writer (or the characters on the page/screen), then when the original person we were referring to said CC was good, then that is what they were saying. As for them saying it, well, the whole point of a forum is for those to share thoughts and opinions and preferences.
