I hate to say it, but looks like the dev might have over did it with making Rachel so hated by so many.
If you refer to the last couple of pages, those are in reaction to someone starting the discussion with trying to absolve Rachel from every wrong doing. Of course the answers to that will focus on pointing out her bad aspects. Doesn't mean everyone hates her, it's just that if someone takes a very one-sided stance people will usually react with the opposite. Don't take that as a an actual picture of how people like or dislike her.

Aside from that I'd argue it's a good thing if people dislike Rachel right now. She was clearly written to be annoying and to be disliked, so people having the reaction they are supposed to means the writing achieved what it wanted. Also it means the redemption arc and payoffwill be greater once it happens (although of course the more disliked the character is the better the writing has to be in order to turn the audience around. But considering everything we got so far I'd say we don't have to worry about that being pulled off successfully)

I like to believe the Dev has something special in mind for her. The 3 main girls already green lit anything the MC wants to do to her. I think it will happen in the next update.

Yeah I'm not a massive fan of her either, but then again I didn't particularly care for Misaki before the last update and now I'm quite interested. Cosy is definitely capable of turning public opinion around.

I think the hardest part will be not folding to public pressure and rushing Rachel's 'redemption.' It would probably make more narrative sense to have her be a bitch for a while longer, but that will inevitably lead to people complaing for the next couple of updates.

Hello.

I keep getting notifications with no update, and I scrolled twice to see that some people are complaining about some of the characters?
Meh! Talking about a game, positively or negatively, is good though.

I just wanted to say that I love this game, it has that nice balance of dom MC without being mean - abusive, cute girls, balanced amount of H scenes, good dialogue, progression, and the list goes on.

Thank you, Dev, I very much enjoy this game!

which can actually lead to suicide
Well, nature is cruel, but, natural selection has worked for thousands of years.
I doubt Rachel is that weak honestly, she's just confused and angry at herself really.

Bit more humiliation, couple of spanking, a creampie or two, or ten, and she'll be just fine and happy.

Honestly, nothing a good spanking can't fix.

Hold the phone, I just noticed the money is in pounds, so they are English, which makes things so much hotter.

Right, so Cat clearly is Krissy from Red Dwarf, the newer one, not the original, and Rachel is definitely Dave's accent, Lucy would so be Kryton, and Sarah Rimmers.

But...also remember that while Rachel has acted like a complete a-hole:
1. There is a backstory coming for her that will probably humanize her significantly.
2. This is a game where MC slaps his submissise harem all the time, so it is likely to attract not just the usual trolls but the 'extra-frothy' ones who can't handle a female character not immediately bowing down to their MC and having the audacity to have thoughts (even STUPID ones) of her own. So the rage factor toward such a character was always going to be disproportionate relative to other games.

I am sorry but just fuck no, no one is bitching about her not backing down and being a good sub, it took Vicky some time to submit, and Sarah and Cat still haven't fully submitted, its got fuck all to do with submission, and everything to do with he fact Rachel is an insufferable cunt with no redeaming features at all.

Cat (and for me) Sarah were cunts, but they have at least been show to have redeeming features.
Sarah had at least been willing to help us right from the get-go, even if it was mainly for Lucy, so she was at least shown as kind.

Cat, on the other hand, has also at least been shown somewhat to be caring and kind, and trying to make things work out, and after this current update, shown as a loving and caring sister.

There is nothing at all in the slightest to redeem Rachel; that is the problem for most people, not the fact that she won't submit.

Two things can be true at once. She has indeed been a jerk but there will definitely be a event to make her more relatable.
Perhaps some trauma in the past. This doesn't justify her behavior but the fact that she is an eventual LI shows she's not evil to her core.
She absolutely has a problem with the girls submitting to the MC as a radical feminist even if they do it willingly. Perhaps even more so in that case.
EDIT: Typos

Ok I love Catherine but you cannot say she had redeeming features initially when we met her, it is only when she joins the cafe and starts the whole princess deal that we actually see more behind the facade.

Rachel is on that same point we don't actually know her, she is just a very annoying classmate with many issues, I understand people disliking her, but saying there is nothing redeemable of her seems a bit too far.

While true, she does have somewhat different appearance, compared to Rachel. The MC scares her by just looking at her sideways (honestly, the first time I played the game I thought there would be some Luci level abuse in her house or even worse) and while a annoying and very arrogant, she doesn't do much acting against the MC.
Rachel on the other hand has been on the MC's ass from day one and regardless of how misguided or sincere or whatever her intentions are, she has been trying to sabotage him actively. Not to mention the whole picture taking was plain immoral. And (at least for me) her sheer incompetence at everything and narcissistic tendencies are quite off putting, to me at least. She will need to walk a long road for me to like her and a few teary-eyed confessions of how nasty mommy is won't cut it. Now, I don't hate her and I am looking forward to how Cosy is gonna pull it off, but she is quite repulsive, atm.

Early on I found Catherine MORE annoying than Rachel, because she was much more involved in the story than Rachel. Rachel would have a few scenes where she does something stupid, someone would yell at her that she is being stupid, then she would fuck off. Cat on the other hand always involved herself in everything and started a whole bunch of fights with Hannah. Regardless, I never found either of them to be annoying to the point of unlikability, it was more like "I wonder why she is being annoying" kinda way. Even the annoying characters are still pretty great IMO, and their presence allows for a lot of character moments and story beats. Like how Lucy defends Mc from Rachel, or all the interactions with Sarah and Catherine on the train.

A lot of people who think Rachel is irredeemable also thought Catherine was irredeemable. All it took was one update for a lot of people to turn around and start liking Catherine, so I am betting something similar will happen for Rachel.

This discussion of MC's last interaction with Rachel--the aborted spanking--just won't go away, so, fuck it, I'm jumping in.

Thing is, I LOVED that interaction; it is one of my favorite scenes in a game full of great scenes. It was moving, powerful, and I'll even use the word poignant. And in part, that is because, yes, it aroused my sympathy for Rachel to some degree; I could see it hurt her. I did not feel triumphant about it, "yeah, bitch, you got what you deserved." My feelings were more complex: this is just what she needs to actually reevaluate her life and start turning herself around.

So I've been thinking about it. Imagine that the individual who hated that scene is NOT trolling. Then why such a drastically different reaction than I had to it?

Here is a hypothesis: suppose you, or a loved one, had been treated in exactly that way. Suppose you or a loved one had to deal with being emotionally abused the way Lucy was physically abused. You might, then, look at that scene and be horrified.

It is very difficult for us humans to see something that evokes powerful empathy, reminding us of traumatic experiences, and say, "Well, but that is MY issue. This is not an inherently evil thing, I am reacting based on my personal history, not to what is actually there." I know that I have a lot of trouble separating things like that; I can't reliably do it.

I think the scene as it played out is perfect and I am eager to see the results of it. But I can also sympathize with someone who, for personal reasons, sees it as just too much of the wrong thing.

Anyway, just a hypothesis.

Very well put and I think you are 100% correct. I had a visceral reaction to the Lucy abuse reveal because I was beaten quite often by my grandfather who raised me.
Personal experience absolutely colors one's perception.

Which makes me chuckle every time I replay the game and Jack hands Lucy, a girl he's never seen before, $100 and tells her to get some groceries at the start of the game. :ROFLMAO:

i actually felt bad for Rachel when she left the room crying. dont get me wrong i dont like her at this point in the story, but i dont think shes evil i think shes just kinda dumb. i have a hard time seeing girls cry even if theyre cunts. it humanizes them to me maybe more than it would someone else and i cant help but feel bad. reminds me that everyone has their own shit going on. i think the MC actually says something similar about hating making girls cry. Rachel isnt totally unredeemable to me but maybe im just a pussy :ROFLMAO:
