There is nothing natural or healthy about this "story." If this is how you experience life, you're massively over-medicated. Most conflicts in peoples lives are external. Here, we have 3 "characters" who would be highly influenced by the outside world and one that would still be moderately impacted. The truth is, we experience what you're calling "artificial drama" on a daily basis even if we don't have such forward facing careers as these characters. I'm an introvert recovering from an immobilizing injury, I deal with people as little as possible and this story still manages to be so boring that I WISH my life was this uneventful. That said, I still wouldn't write a story about it.Eh, false. You know the sign of a poor writer? Creating unrealistic and artificial 'drama', especially if some character has to have some major life negative event, or die in the story. Trust me, there is PLENTY of drama in real life, depending on where you look for it.
Why do you think divorce lawyers exist?
Also, people who dislike a thing have just as much right to voice their opinion as those who love something. Personally, I'm far more interested in critical responses to my work than mindless affirmation. Most people want to be good at their job. They want to continually improve. And that's something you will never do if you aren't confronted by your shortcomings.
All forms of entertainment/play exist to subconsciously hone our bodies and minds. We've long found that the more intelligent the creature, the more engaged in such behavior they are. That said, there hasn't been much cross-species studies into "play" of this nature, if it could even be called that. That's to say, something completely passive and with no form of conflict or resolution. All of your praise for this "game" amounts to it being completely devoid of mental stimulation, which would argue that this "game" utterly fails to justify its own existence. We're all clearly coming to the same conclusion, it's just that what you have chosen to value in your life is of no value to the vast majority of people.
