I think the main reason is that those people wanted a sequel to MIST and CoM came out - a different game, different from MIST in many aspects. Doesn't mean it's worse, it's just different. That's where the nagging started - the wrong skin colour, too much femdom, God knows what else. They just can't accept the fact that the developer decided to do something different from what they wanted.
It's a pity that CoM is being pushed aside for the next project, it was (and is) a good game.
The issue for me is more that purple looks goofy and also makes it harder to immerse myself into the story as the MC. I don't feel like I'm the MC, but that I am simply watching the guy, so I'm just not all that invested. Instead of playing a game, I'm watching a movie, basically. Also, the meat we're using to kiss and fuck these girls is literally dead and held together by some spell. It's just not sexy.

I could accept that the developer tried something else, but since it clearly didn't work and he apparently works on a different project now, it seems that even he understood that it simply didn't resonate with people, especially with the boost in players willing to give it a try that came with making two successful games prior to this.

Too many misses in a single game - the femdom, the monster fish girl, the zombie / purple skin mc, the tedium that came with the fishing game.. etc.

I found the first 10 minutes captivating as hell. Very interesting and bold premise, but then.. meh.

Finish Line | Status Report #04
Jul 21, 2025
The first update of the side project is nearing completion very quickly. A first release isn't far anymore, so let me tell you about what I got done in the last month and what will happen next.

A List of New Things:
  • I added additional PINUP albums to the game. There are now three in the first update.
  • I wrote four additional SEX EVENTS into the game.
  • And added ALTERNATIVE DIALOGUE for each one of them.
  • I made ANIMATIONS for each of those events.
  • I added additional MUSIC to one of the minigames.
  • I did a third and fourth pass over the entire DIALOGUE to make it smooth and polished.
  • I did a bunch of PLAYTESTING on my own and with the help of others to figure out the weaker points in the mechanics and plot.
  • I completed the TEXT ADVENTURE minigame that is playable within the game.
  • I did a first pass of PROOFREADING on the entire dialogue.
  • I added additional SOUND EFFECTS where necessary.
  • I added slight CAMERA ANIMATIONS to make scenes more dynamic, which can be turned off for those who don't want it.
  • I added semi-randomized TALKING EVENTS.
  • Added four HANG OUT events.
  • Added a SPLASHSCREEN and a PRE-SPLASH to the game.
  • Made a custom MOUSE POINTER.
  • And the EXE ICONS.
  • Added a custom main menu ANIMATION.
  • Finally came up with a graphic for the TITLE.
  • Planned how sex scenes are unlocked and how the PROGRESSION will look.
  • I did a bunch of BUG FIXES.
  • Added a thousand things here and there for a smoother POLISH.
  • And I'm 100% certain I forgot a bunch of stuff.
Tying Loose Ends:
Development is at a stage where I do nothing but tie up a myriad of loose ends. There's a lot of detail in the polish of a completely new release, and it simply takes ages to get to it all.

But I also got very valuable feedback from friends that I asked to playtest an unfinished version, and I'm using that to make the final, critical adjustments before the release of 0.1.

There's still a lot to do, even if the content is 100% there, but I'm certain that a release is only a matter of weeks now. So stay tuned for what I'll be posting—or even publishing—in the coming weeks!

in short, in any case, we are concentrating on a new project, which, hopefully, will be fresher and with more elaboration. The morn is not worth waiting for soon, as there is still a lot to recycle and the author is clearly not eager to do this at the moment, which is understandable. well, we are waiting and hoping that there will be something at the level of mist)

Important!
If you are patron or actively supporting any dev, make sure they know what shit is happening now:
because of some braindead shiteaters from "Collective Shout" who complained to payment processors(visa, mastercard), said processors decided that it's their damn business to decide which content is viable and which game you all should play.

So thousands of games was deleted from Steam and later after that - over 20 000 titles was deleted from itch.io.

If you have any connection with you favorite devs, WARN THEM. It is fucking time they make backup plans!

If they did nothing after patreon mass shiteating - they are careless.
If they did nothing after steam joined dark side - they are stupid.
If they will do nothing after itch.io shit - they are suicidal.
DEVS! You have been warned. Don't whine if you do nothing and lose everything.

My Girl Loves Handcuffs v0.1 is finally out. So far, you seem to like the new game, and it was a blast to develop. If you haven’t checked it out yet, go . Version 0.1 is free to play for everyone! But enough about that. Now we’ll talk about what happens next.

Back to the Morn
The simple answer is that I’ll start working on the next update for CoM. Version 0.6 is coming next, and I’ve already done quite a bit of work on it, but that doesn’t mean it won’t take time to finish. Just like I did with MGLH, I’m going to take my time to make sure the next installment of CoM is worth your time.

I’ve already talked about this in the very first Status Report, but there will be changes coming to CoM—some small, some large. I’ve learned a lot from the side project and feel like I can see CoM much more clearly now—what I’m happy with and what I want to change. I feel very giddy just thinking about it, even though what I’ve planned is definitely a daunting task. You’ll hear more about it in the coming weeks!

Schedule
Now, some of you might be wondering about my update schedule. When will CoM get an update, and when will I develop MGLH? The answer is: I don’t really know. For now, my focus is on the next CoM update. But there’s a good chance I’ll dedicate one day a week to MGLH.

Creating content for the side project is much easier and quicker. I designed it that way, knowing I’d have to keep working on it alongside CoM. Still, this is a new situation for me as well, and I’ll be learning along the way. You’ll watch me figure it out live.

I might end up splitting my week between the two projects, or working in bigger chunks—dedicating a month to one project and then another month to the other. Maybe I’ll complete an update for CoM, then one for MGLH, then back to CoM again, and so on. We’ll see.

All I can say is that since I made those changes a few months ago, developing games has been fun again. I’m really enjoying my time.

That’s it from me! I wish everyone a great week!

I don't feel like I'm the MC, but that I am simply watching the guy, so I'm just not all that invested. Instead of playing a game, I'm watching a movie, basiclly. Also, the meat we're using to kiss and fuck these girls is literally dead and held together by some spell. It's just not sexy.

The issue for me is everything is more goofy about this game compared to MIST. I don't really care about the purple(I dislike it, I guess, but not enough for it to matter) I care that the whole vibe is non-immersive. I don't feel invested-I'm sure a large part of that is the fact that we're working with a rigamortis-ized dick and mouth but the story itself doesn't pull me in, either. I don't feel the stakes and from what I remember I don't feel the connection with the girls on anywhere near the same level as MIST.

And do not even get me started on the goddamn mini-games which from what I hear has not gotten better since I last played. NOTHING and I mean NOTHING pulls you out of a VN like a badly done minigame and I know I had to pull teeth and nails just to get through the first part of the game and granted it's been awhile since I checked in on this one but from the looks of the comments the minigame issue has persisted if not gotten markedly worse.

The most unfortunate thing is that the dev knew this game wasn't vibing with his audience from like the first or second update. How do I know? Because I was a Patron from early in MIST's development(As in before you got the sister back) until shortly after the second-third update for this. I never talked much with the dev personally outside of one-off questions/etc until that point but I was in the Discord pretty often from then onwards and there was a marked shift in how people responded to this-even putting aside how many of us were(And are) let down by the ending of MIST at the time-and we tried to communicate to him why and even tried to give suggestions, most of which were genuine, non-offensive and could've been helpful, but dude did not listen and was hyper-sensitive to any criticism of it to the point where he quickly started banning people from the Discord for 1-2 comments/questions(Some of whom deserved it but most I saw were long-term fans/Patrons). You can even see it clear as day in the lack of engagement on this thread as compared to MIST at the same time in it's dev cycle-and there is no earthly reason that should happen after such a wildly popular game other than willful incompetence.

Bottom line is dude knows exactly why people don't FW this one(Or at last I have seen him told in several ways by different people) and is completely unwilling to compromise on those aspects. Similarly he should know exactly why people loved MIST(If only because it's been made super clear for years) but refuses to capitalize or focus on those aspects. He has a very, very specific idea of what kind of game he wants to make right now and is only interested in that-and the new one looks like it's going to suffer from the exact same problems as this one if not worse because he clearly has not learned why this one ain't a hit and is just going to push through the same typa shit that people have already made super clear they don't FW. He needs to take a lesson from Caribdis low(High)key.

Or the game has gotten monumentally better in the past few updates I've been away, the comments are wrong and I just ranted for no reason. Hope I'm wrong

So now that the developer has released a new game, do you feel satisfied?

Sooooo, why does this game's community seem so dead? I know it's only 2 years old, but only 45 pages of discussions? I haven't played it, but is the game really that bad compared to Mist?

Well, that's kind of the thing. Half will say "Yes, 100% MIST better!!1eleven" for various reasons and the other half will say "Nope, dunno what those guys mean". Truth is there is a notable part of the fanbase of Mist that didn't like it. But just because some people don't like it doesn't mean it's bad.

My opinion is that this really is a case of you HAVE to give this a try yourself to get an accurate impression. Getting opinions from a quarreling fanbase can't possibly give you an accurate answer.
I think it's pretty damn good, bar a few noteworthy points of criticism. And I'm totally sure it's worth checking out.

Imo I really don't get what the people didn't like with CoM, personally enjoy it just about as much as Mist (minus the slower progress XD).
The situation feels very similar to Interim domain, which was a great game some people just shit on because it was different from the devs previous project (even though it wasn't crazy different, just less focused, a little like the difference between plotge and charage).
And arguments like "MC is blue so game bad" are so silly I can't even. Then again, maybe it's cuz I don't self insert into the mc.

I think I self insert a bit, but I'm still not bothered, because I'm blue, da-ba-dee, da-ba-di.

Fantastic line of reasoning, thank you, now everything is much clearer! There's nothing to argue with here, as they say...
Although deep down I always suspected that this was roughly how they thought, you have dispelled all my doubts. Thank you again!
