You're right, he plans to tackle that like that, he thinks it makes sense for Rithris to control that vector of entrance as soon as she had taken control
But wasn't she controlling it already with the specially keyed lightning glyphs? Locking the entrance down even as she still has the various flavours of guards rounding up the citizens for enchanting would be strange and speak of her suddenly getting afraid of Soriel to the point of hunkering down even though her thing at that point is assuming her superiority - unless it's done with another of the anti higher demon glyphs which just blocks the entrance by default without her needing to even look (incidentally that could be an explanation for why Nefris never joins the party in liberating the ziggurat). But then that would tip him off to the fact that those glyphs are a thing, and the first glyph encounter has to be a surprise to set off the prison sequence.

Well, I'm curious to see where it goes.

Those glyphs are very useless if you never step on them in the first place, and ironically the Fire Imps can "fly" so locking the front door makes sense, she has no Idea of who else knew about the secret entrance and assuming that any other Fire Imps would be able to open the stone door that locks the Ancestors chambers, it's important to leave some extra defences, that's why she left Sia's artificial creations and Nyzerin Observers guarding the route, that guess what, can either fly or levitate, which means they won't trigger the traps she also left behind on that area.
And we can't forget that only thing that can ruin her plans is another Succubus/Incubus, if we assume that she is the responsible for sending those Fire Imps we encountered in chapter 1, she literally sent an invitation to probably the strongest Succubus in the CK world, against her those traps work more as an alarm than something intended to defeat an eventual invader. Of course that she probably didn't expected that the one stepping in every single one of them was going to be Soriel...

Multiple routes and options = player agency. I'm all for it.
...Locking out content is not player agency. I want to see as much or as little content as I want. Telling me I have to miss the other half of the cake because I already ate some is BS. You should have the option to have all of it or leave the cherry because you dont like it. That is player agency.

Dang he really improved his artstyle since CK 1!

So is this game [abandoned] or not? I see a tag but recent posts seem to suggest otherwise
The game's not abandoned, in fact it's being worked on currently. Just the case that dev does the project as passion and not full-time and his life's busy hence it' pacing is slower than usual

In case you don't know already the Abandoned tag is used in different circumstances, like for this game and according to the rules, since no updates have been released for a period superior to 18 months the tag was applied, so keep in mind that tags associated with the current status of a project are not always accurate about the real state of it.

Why does it say the last update was 4 years ago? There really hasn't been anything for 4 years?

Yes, for this project. in 2023 The dev released another game(i.e. Eld) which he used as an experience to learn Unity. The next chapter of CK and the later chapters will be made with Unity instead of Flash

Alright, I'm going to say it as no one else is. I don't think chapter 8 is ever going to come out. It's been 4 years, nothing but a hobby for the creator, while having a good career outside the game, this moves at a snails pace, and I don't expect it to come out anytime soon. I've been following him since flash was still running, it's clear that when that went down he lost motivation.

Hey before saying anything why don't you go look around in introspurt discord server and check out the game development process?

Previously, Introspurt made games using Flash, but now he's learning Unity. It's okay if he's a little slow because he and his team are still working on it. Progress is increasing daily. And guess what? Both Crimson Keep and Eld are free games. "introspurt" allows people to download them on his Discord server. If this is just a hobby, that's fine too. And I'd be happy if he gets a good job outside of that, because talent like his shouldn't be limited to pornographic games. Making games isn't easy, especially with a small group. So if you can't wait, unfollow this thread.
About Eld, I agree that Eld currently has no new updates, as it will be development after chapter 8 of Crimson Keep.
That everything I can say about the "Abandoned". You can confirm what I saying in their discord server.

I know four years is a long time, but trust me, the game isn't abandoned.

The 4 years gap is more than justified.

Like you said it's a hobby and despite that he release another project during that period of time, took around 2 years mostly because of the learning process of getting used to a new engine and the genre change midway (was supposed to be an action sidescroller when it started but then it was turned into a 4x4 Rpg).

Moving CK from Flash to Unity also required a long period of time to do as you can't simple ctrl+c/ctrl+v the code from one engine to the other.

Introspurt is still giving us updates after each phase is concluded and there's even a tracker of the current task on the works.

1000134410.jpg

Currently there's only one animation left to be done, then there's still the cutscenes, maps, lewd statics, music, ancillary codding and finally the Closed Alpha Test.

The project is still following the very same process than before, but now the Unity engine allows more complexity than Flash did, the animations for example will have multiple variations and loops, different from what happened in previous chapters. The previous chapter with the longest development time took 7 months to be finished, and that was thanks to the fact that it reused the code and assets from the previous one different than the current one.

And if there's something I can assure you is that he didn't loose his motivation, every time he talks about the game he does it with the same excitement and joy than the early days and sometimes it's even necessary that he contains said excitement to avoid saying too much and forcing moderators to delete +500 messages to get rid of spoilers like happened a few times along the years.

He has a job for a long time and is now taking things slower to avoid "burn out" since he never stopped working on these projects since at least chapter 3 when someone created the discord server for the game. So it will take some time but I have no doubt that people will be able to say "We got CK8 before GTA VI!" for certain and that by that time your message will have aged really well.
