should they change the status to ongoing now that it's confirmed he's back to working on CK chapter 8? sorry if dozens others already asked this
The status of projects in this site are decided based on a series of exclusive rules that you can find here.
In the case of CK because there was been no update in 18 months after the last one the Abandoned status was applied.
Status tags on this website are not always accurate to the Real status of those projects.

I only recently started playing this game, flew past chapters 1-5 relatively quickly. It's a fun experience but god, can it be an annoying one.
Gripes: Gameplay/menu changes each chapter. Not even a joke. Some are good, some seem pointless, some make it more difficult like the game now limiting your charms/equipment. The grind is another annoying aspect. Both in terms of level and travel, which feels like a slog, combat becomes less and less fun as it goes on. It peaks around chapter 5 where it does feel challenging but satisfying but the moment chapter 6 starts it all just flies out the window. One of my biggest gripes and questions about the game is why is there even a tempt system in place when we never use it? I remember chapter 5 started to explain how "it won't be as random anymore" and "there's a heart you can now fill for non bosses" yet every single enemy we face is either charmed so we can't tempt them before we reduce their HP or can't be tempted in the first place. What's even the point?
Anyway I really wanted to complain about that shit. Overall, art is great and the girls are likeable. I am enjoying the game, but the constant changes just got me annoyed finally. I hope movement and the grind is reduced in upcoming releases and some of the "missable" content gets reworked (won't rely on you grinding out mobs until you proc the "quest" to start)

Understandable gripe.
The Dev has been transparent about the frequent changes though from the very start. The project is experimental as it's his first project and he does it as a passion project i.e. he has a day job and takes no form of monetary support for this project, all of the points above are something the dev acknowledged and intends to fix when he compiles all the chapters in Unity as a single executable.
Enemies being charmed is part of the story, the heart mechanic was to alleviate problems of unenchanted enemy that can be tempted which are far less due to how the plot unfolds

The "Charmed" is nothing more than a 2nd health bar that also grants protection against being insta-Tempted or "killed", it would be hard to understand how you could be talking with a NPC that you just knocked out among other things, like how it's possible for a single creature to take control of an entire city without anyone being able to stop them. Since only other Succubus/Incubus can break them free that explains why the current situation around the entire volcano remains stagnant until the protagonist reachs each area and why none of the NPCs and characters can do anything to stop against it.
And the normal Tempt system couldn't be removed since you still need to "charm" your enemies to obtain a covenant, so the best solution to avoid the RNG was to make the mechanic more similar to the "charmed" enemies, a 2nd health bar, since you still need to damage the target HP for Tempt attacks to be more effective, the only difference is that regular enemies now have a low chance of being tempted instantly and bosses that are not optional and are not charm will give you a Game Over screen if you fail to do it.

I hope you are ready for ch. 8, because this new entry will have the biggest changes of them all, but at least the objective is to make this new version as definitive as possible for the eventual remaster of all previous chapters using the same formula. Since each enemies now will only give a certain amount of EXP is more likely for you to get any optional collecionables or quests as you try to maximize your LV. And the objective is also to reduce de reliance on RNG so I suppose it's going to become easier in that regard.

I totally understand this is a project that's been YEARS in the making and not only do opinions change but people also grow/learn as they develop. Unfortunately, there won't be a definitive edition for a while but I am still looking forward to the next chapter of the game. It is still fun, the art and animations are still incredible and the characters are all charming. I'm curious to see where the dev takes the story and I did enjoy the combat up until chapter 6 where it felt like there was a difficulty spike all of a sudden. I applaud them for not only sticking through this long but seeing where they could improve and charging ahead to see what sticks and what doesn't.
I also do get why the second health bar exists, I probably just didn't word myself properly, it just feels like a shame to have a whole mechanic about lust attacks and only be able to use it near the end of boss fights where as before you could at least also use it on random mobs. I think after the changes there's only one monster you can tempt that's not charmed by someone else.
I am, as of typing this, only now starting chapter 7 so who knows how I'll feel afterwards or once chapter 8 is available lol. But outside of being annoyed by some aspects, I do enjoy this game.

Yea the difficulty spike did have me considering to mess with the slider but then I thought back to my cuphead days and I was like.....eh could be worse.

I have a love-hate relationship with boss rush games. I hope Chapter 8 has more downtime areas with "downtime bosses" and not every boss is like consequential to the story

Also searching for more victory sex games that don't have the sex once every 30 mins of gameplay lol

I know it's a long shot, but I just hope the dev tones down the amount of belly bulge in the game. Unfortunately for me, it seems to be one of his fetishes.

Ah well, I still enjoy the game, even despite how much I hate that fetish. Which really speaks very highly of the quality of this game.
