Using the .jar file on Mac and I feel like things are supposed to be more visible in the upgrades screen. Finally getting around to bringing it up.

I just noticed this, and it's so very funny to me how living in a hotel for a day costs more money than a whole ass plane ticket for a 2 day long journey.

I am on loop 883. Sometimes when starting a new loop, all the text and buttons go missing then the game freezes. Closing and reopening the game fixes this.

Edit: Launching any games modded with BepInEx while game is on auto can cause the missing text and buttons issue too.

Haven't had that happen to me ever. Do you know what might be causing this? Aside from the BepInEx games?

I have two monitors. Game only autos if it's visible, so I usually have it as a small window and placed so half of it shows on each monitor. I use one monitor for videos or background music while I do stuff on the other monitor.
Edit: I just checked, both monitors are set to the same fps.

How strange... My game autos even if it is fully minimized... I think something else might be wrong with the files?

So what should my general strategy be for the first few loops? Everything feels like it's on such a crazy optimized timer that I'm having a very hard time achieving new things now, since none of the upgrades give direct "get more X" bonuses, just increases to thinks like Stamina or making things cost less. I'm having a hard time getting the last push to actually leave the city; I can get to Finances 8-9 and just BARELY finish learning the language right now.

Get osten- I can't spell it. But the clothes you get for observing all the rich people goal while working at DuMont's mansion. Then Hashimoto's route to unlock self destructive. Combined, they're super helpful for farming game development at Yumeno's house for focus.

Get enough focus to unlock the tower goal, to unlock an upgrade that buffs academics' stat gain increase. The Master Your Popularity goal is good later on, when you have a bunch of levels in the academic upgrade and charisma upgrade. The MYP goal buffs how much each relationship buffs stat gain based off your charisma level. So then charisma buffs both relationship gain and relationship modifier to stat gain, and academics buff stat gain. So you can spam academics and charisma training since they feed into each other, some stamina training on the side.

Well, I feel like the problem I'm having is that at this point I can't even unlock Academics until the last few days, when there's hardly even any time to train it (since I only see the one time slot available that even lets you train it). Same with Charisma, mostly; I barely get a level in it by the end since there's so few ways to raise it once Tanaka is gone.

I'm gonna try a run just ignoring Tanaka completely and getting my Focus/Stamina up the first 32 days.

After finishing Hashimoto's debate goals you get much better actions for academics which are in three time slots and work with self-destructive unlike Helig's action.

Finally got to the point where I can get both Truthseeker and Savior in the same run. I definitely feel as though I can cut down the number of loops needed to get there a TON now.

I think I'm gonna cool it till the second act releases. Then beat the second act, then restart from loop 1 to see how quickly I can beat both.

Played a few hours with R2 which released today on Patreon.

Some of the new scenes are absolutely badass. And even an extremely casual, intentionally non-optimized run produced more than 1500 MOL. Woo. And one of the new unlockable MOL items is really fun!

Edit: The new repeatable achievement is probably bugged, and is meant to give in the 100-200 range tops, I think, as it's meant to be gated by flying back and forth. But if you have enough focus to finish the event multiple times in a single shot, you can trigger the thing 11-12 times for a 550-600 total.

Can anyone give me some kind of strat or method to play this game, I clicked thru 7 cycles and still the stat gain is straight up ass. Am I not supposed to "play" the game, as in just leave it on auto and fuck off? The autoplay is also slow af.
What stats am i supposed to focus on first? Game tells me Charisma is important and stuff but it never carries over, also stamina always runs low, even with rests so most of the time there are no stat gains.

This is my first time with this kind of game, usually I enjoy grind, but here even I think its ass cause there is no meaningful gain:HideThePain:

There are definitely goals that are optimized better through routes and achieving meaning of life goals is more important than trying to finish the game all at once. I like the game a lot but a real flaw is that actually playing loops to find routes can take a while.

The game is meant to be that when you find a breakthrough, your progress is briefly exponential until you hit a bottleneck. The most important thing early on is focus, as goals unlock new actions and actions unlock new routes/achievements which give you meaning of life and thus more stat multipliers. You can go way faster once you get certain achievements, but you do need to hit certain MoL breakpoints to do so.

It's been a little too long for me to know how to a detailed starting guide but charisma is important LATER. The game has a lot of traps where you can just pursue goals that unlock something you can't achieve or goals that look productive but aren't until you try them. It's not the most fun but once you know what you want to do and how to navigate a loop it starts to become easier.

I had 227 for that run from the previous two loops.

I felt self-conscious for spamming the chat with this stuff, but I actually managed to leverage these strategies and a new record for loop 1 120 MOL, and managed to get an L2 D99 record. The dev didn't think it was possible, so it doesn't even have the "you beat my score!" comment

Now that the new version is released and there are new things to optimize, could you perhaps help new players get close to a run like this in preparation for chapter 2?

The game is interesting, but the optimization challenge is quite time-consuming. I've already spent 2 days doing my best, reading through the thread and Patreon chat a couple of times, and even looking through the save files to get a sense of the progression order.

I still can't get a satisfying run through that feels optimized, or complete the chapter on low MOL invested.

Unfortunately, I can't quite invest dozens of hours of optimizing, nor do I want to go through 20 loops to get through things casually. And, judging from all the replies asking for early game strats it seems others are struggling even more.

It would be nice to have a list of unlocks with some benchmarks to know if progression is on pace. This would also help optimize further if more people could contribute and find ways to shave off a day or two here and there.

So for example, it would be nice to know something like:

Figuring out how to do that would be much nicer than wrestling with all the different paths. And with autosaves coming in 10 day increments, having something to reference and know you've messed up is much nicer than realizing on day 92 that you're 2 days off of making it and having no clue what to try to improve first.

If they would also have some pointers on the next direction, such as "now level up X for 4 days" that would help even more. But it doesn't have to be a full-on walkthrough. That would kinda defeat the purpose of the game.

It would also help new players avoid false leads and timesinks if they'd rather have a head start.

I'd be happy to put this together myself once I could actually get a L3 finish, but I thought I'd ask for your insights first since you seem to have invested way more into this than I probably ever will :)

It's been 3 months since I started, I honestly don't remember much. But lots of focus is needed, so spend MOL on that upgrade. Stamina so you can do the high cost actions without spending forever grinding stamina or resting constantly. Handheld game console equipment is good while you're just starting out because it reduces stamina costs while giving you free focus xp.

Following Hashimoto's route gives you larceny kit, which boosts goal progress while also giving you finances xp. Need high focus to figure out Tanaka's location, then learn the language, then finance lvl 11(?) to buy a plane ticket to get there. Deadline for getting on the plane is day 99 cause the world goes kaboom on day 100. Figuring out where she was taken gives 5 MOL, so you can complete Jackal's goal if it won't take too many turns, then ignore language learning if you can't complete it in time or if you're not rich enough. Just farm stats.

Yumeno's route eventually leads to game dev goal, which gives a lot of relationship, focus, and 10 MOL per completion. Very worth it if you have high enough focus and stamina. Even with low focus, you can still complete it once or twice.

Following Hashimoto's route further gives you self destructive stance. Requires you to be 20 hp or below (use stand guard), but gives you a lot more attributes and goal progress. Can use self destructive in combination with larceny kit to farm MOL from game dev. Or self destructive with ostentatious clothes (upgrade of eye catching attire, from working at DuMont's mansion) to farm focus. Then switch to larceny kit and generous stance to complete language learning while also leveling up finances to try to get to Tanaka if you think you can make it.

I may be missing things, because I really don't remember much of the start.
