It's a crap shoot. Some devs give small short updates a on frequent basis, others larger updates over a longer period of time. Standard is about every 3-6 months. If you are an old fart time me is so long you have to start over because you forgot what was going on.

We need to see the log file that the game generates when it tries to run.

Usually take about 4 month between each update. Most devs this a labor of love and they do it in their spare time after working their real jobs.
