It is not necessarily a lazy solution if it is intended. If there is transparency then it offers a better view of the other character, who is often the primary focus, and having a simple silhouette instead of a detailed character can improve the immersion of those who would like to imagine themselves in that situation or those who would dislike the alternative. Everyone has their preferences, and not everyone approves of the personality and/or appearance of the character they are provided with, so it can be a deciding factor whether they would like to play a certain game or not. Another reason is to keep the character mysterious, I can't think of that many alternatives to create a character yet hide their appearance (like the face) to a sufficient degree and be satisfying at the same time (for example, a paper bag over the head could do the job but wouldn't be that satisfying).Well, I don't insert myself in video games overall. Every experience I have is cinematic. I want to see female characters having sex, that's all, like watching porn. So, if it's a transparent silhouette or a floating penis, it ruins the immersion for me, since it doesn't fit with the rest of the art and sometimes it feels like is a lazy solution to not have to deal with extra work. Not saying it's the case here, of course.
But to each their own.
Yeah, I understand it can be intentional as part of the creative process. And regarding the mysterious thing, many artists decide to draw a character with hidden eyes or with bangs convering them. I'm okay with that decision. It is not necessarily a lazy solution if it is intended. But like you say, to each their own.
