i was ready to write something likeDude...Can you read? Nobody said anything about "why no 'cest, can't wait for dude to bang all the chicks"(which, ironically, is the role MC plays in the story)
The problem is the world building and exposition. When Neo gets out of the Matrix and has dialogues on the ship - you know what is the driving goal for him and whole crowd living in the real world.
When Frodo goes on his journey to destroy the Ring - you get the answers pretty quickly.
While here MC gets to work with the company and gets into the AI rabbit hole for what? What is the company's profit for doing this? Selling virtual realities? Getting some kind of resource out of there? 3 episodes in and that's the basic question that there's still no answer given to unless I missed something. If you want to setup the twist with "evil company using virtual reality to take over the real world" then give them exposition of something unlike it for twist to work.
So, basically, MC is doing work in VR for company, which...? Which what? There's no hook to start with)
