First they say they released it to get feedback, and when they get feedback like from fzdc they claim "it's not finished yet"

By what i've read here i'm already convinced that this will be a never ending shit show...

Fact is Epic isn't going to explicitly work towards your own Specific Goals it's going to be a tough ride no matter Unreal 5 or not.
Illusion worked also for years on their System to Mature and later porting the important parts and also redesign some of them for Unity there is a lot of own IP in Honey Select like it is in VAM nothing you can buy and implement so easily from a 3rd party and you're rarely going to find it in the quality you need on the Marketplaces either.
It is its own Research apart from Epic and others and yes in VAMs Case part of this is driven by a very versatile community of some very smart dev/engineers content devs and character artist that experiment with it and in that way they contribute to a bigger system, solving bit for bit very complex problems.
It's like a team of 100 of devs that build ontop of Unity and most of them in a very open way giving their knowledge away.
And its Ecosystem is growing and becoming more and more advanced it is already partly in a state of a VR Content Creation toolset.
This is very problematic also to reach under Epics Licensing Model.
It is true, but we are at the very beggining. Our way is not to do everything ourselves. Lot of 100x more experienced modder and content creators who have been looking for us. We also want to rely on the community and make it modifiable so that it can be used as easily as possible. In the Vam, most script came from modders. We still have a long way to go, and the pre alpha build /v0.7/ is just for presenting graphics and some base feature wich one allready in alpha state. Alpha already uses older obsolete Unrel Engine, the next version ll use 4.26. It comes with much more features =and more bugs :p /.

By what i've read here i'm already convinced that this will be a never ending shit show...

this is not true because everything what he has described is contained in a patreon or discord, which he could have read if he not pirated. So all was described before release, and most of the bugs he lists are there in the known bug topic on discord with their solutions as well.

I see you can't read the description, you're talking against yourself. This is made for Unreal Engine 5. It ll release around early summer.

Content size? This is a test build we need to test the maps as well. Some character use 4k textures. So 1 character can reach 100-150MB only the textures. You cant package it cos it is moddable, you can set new textures in runtime. The final version ll contain the base characters with 2-3 map. Characters and maps can download and add separately. But it is written on the discord a 5 months ago...read it, than wrote relevant review. Again, alpha V0.7 test build...

Performance? How can I record 4k video on my 2 years old config, with ultra setting and rtx on? If you have problem with the performance, go to settings and set high-medium or low, or turn off post process etc....or you downloaded a normal or rtx build?

Megascan? Again, it is made for Unreal 5. We ll use a lot of megascan objects.

I didn't download your game, I'm commenting on your, alleged, development based on what you said. You're porting a project to a new engine version mid-development, you clearly have no idea what you're doing, you're comitting first-time developer mistakes, literally all of them.

I don't care how huge your characters ass texture is, you are using assets not meant for real time purposes so no wonder your game is a hog and you try to cope by saying it's a hardware problem when it's clearly an optimization problem ON YOUR END. Not even shittly made and shittly optimized console ports to PC of AAA require a fucking 3080 to work properly.

Lastly, you complain about people pirating your game but I'm pretty sure by the screenshots you are literally using stolen assets from Skyrim. And I'm not even going to enter the copyright hellhole of allowing user generated content.

In carakter creation when it opens it also appears to me "hdmoff". what did i do to take that out and create a character?

We start working at UE4.25. 4.25 use old Nvidia/Epic based physics. 4.26 released at the end of December. It ll use Chaos based physics engine /Beta version, with a lot of bugs/. 4.26 start the switch the whole Unreal physics Engine which has been used for about 10 years. 5.0 arrives in this summer. Our game made for 5.0. When we done the developement, the RTX 3000 series cards will be a year and a half olds. Why would we start developing the existing configurations? Cyberpunk was released in 2013, should it have been optimized for that configs?

Test build is a Test build. We need to test the material editor and the maps as well. They take up a lot of space, which can later be downloaded separately at no extra costs. However, if we want to test it, it will be included. We currently have more than 80 maps /more than 300GB..../. you can save space by reusing meshes and textures, e.g., in AAA titels. but in a moded game, each map uses a different mesh and textures. Not unified, for exemple you have stylized Manga environment or Megascanned scifimap in same game, you need much more space for it. Most of the Genesis 8 characters already use a 4k texture. 1 texture around 10 - 30mb / image and you need 11 x4 for that /Dif, roughness, metallic, Normal / or sometimes more if you need opacity, decal or others. So one character easy to reach 400-500MB. This is the future, AAA games use low poly characters, max 10k polys, Genesis 8 Characters 80K-120K poly + clothes, hairs.....My Vam folder reached 350GB, Skyrim more than 500GB....

All our assets whitch one we used are purchased with the appropriate license, we pay close attention to this. I can show the right documents for anything what we used.

So many pirate :D Our project but, we need feedbacks, so it can stay...for a while.... :) HMDOFF is a stereo streaming node in Unreal Engine. If you got this message you dont have VR. Tested on Oculus, others may have a problem. If you can't play it, you need to read the known bugs topic and the solutions on our discord. For example, if you have a VR, the maps started as VR, need to switch back to desktop mode, yes, it is a bug. If you dont known the key maps, you can't play with it :) Little help here, cos a lot of people don’t know Google :)

Why don't you just post the solution here since almost everybody is having the same problem?

It’s the trouble if someone isn’t able to read the basics informations and wrote of something of it, or just doesn't understand what the alpha version is meaning or Version 0.7... interestingly, whoever read it wrote meaningful criticism, whether negative or positive. Question for 2 word respondents. How many took the trouble to visit the discord server or view the tutorials on youtube? Cos the bugs they described is the solution there :)

1 - Check the key maps, the solution found there, than you ll got 60-80fps /little help, start F1/ or my 2 years old config is too good cos in some of my youtube videos you can see that i was able to record 4k video at 60 fps with ultra settings.


2 - Please Read the Key map descriptions. You can find it to patreon, discord, youtube and reddit. I linked here as well. I cant help you more :)

3 - VR feature not implement yet, cos we ll put it to the next version which ll use UE 4.26. We use now a rudimentaly VR, that whoever wants to see what it will look like in the future can try it. But again, this is described for patreon, discord, reddit...I don't think you read it....

4 - Again, discord, patreon....we use rudimentaly UI, cos this is Alpha V0.7. We /developers/use console commands to spawn things, but the users need something, so we make it one what users can use for a while.

5 - Alpha V0.7 all things ll change. The final version need one more year development or more. Again, discord, patreon, reddit.....

6 - This is a porn game. We dont need more than 25-30 fps. We dont need a good ping. We ll not reduce textures, when this game is done, the rtx 3000 series cards more than 1,5 years olds. Some maps we use Megascan opbjects. We ll use Unreal Engine 5, which one can manage many more polygon than actual game engines. It runs on current configs between 30-60fps with ultra setting and rtx on. Try to open the video settings option and turn off the post process or set shadows to low....it ll help

Neonie : A tons of features not implement yet. Cos Alpha 0.7.... Read the descriptions below. For example, we are now testing the multiplyer and have a lot of other features which one not implement this version

MrZack : Not easy. so far 8 months of development with 5 people, and it still takes a year of development to release the 1.0. Patreon support does not cover one developer’s 2 weekly salary. Trust me, we don’t want to make money with this now.

Also arrived. We thanks everyone for their support so far, the work continues. We haven’t wanted to release it yet until Alpha V1.0, but the community is the first! We hope everyone likes what we’ve done so far, but we’re still at the very beginning.

is going to use Unreal Engine 5 as soon as it is production ready. At the moment we use the old UE 4.25 physics engine, but it is being replaced by Chaos and Niagara in UE 4.26. The physics engine is responsible for character, cloth, and hair physics, and other interesting stuf too. We added tons clothes, hairs and old physics based characters, but we did not spend too much time on either the weightpainting or the physics fine tuning, because it will be replace/modified during engine upgrades. If you have a multi monitor setup, please only use your main one to avoid crashes (espeacially when taking photos of presets).

Please take a look at our for more info, tutorials and known-bugs. Please keep that in mind. Feedback is welcome, and much appreciated, but please be specific about the issue and include you config, and photos or videos, if possibe, and we will take a look ASAP.

Besides you missed my point entirely, the issue is not lack of features the issue is TOO MANY FEATURES. Never be too ambitious for your first project start with clear defined project plan of x amount of basic features, x amount of levels, x amount of h-animations and x-amount of special game over animations and ONE playable character. The plan should ideally be achievable within 2 years.

As your own comment says now you are adding MULTIPLAYER AS WELL, far far too many features this game will never be finished, not even a big studio can finish a game this ambitious much less a small team of however many people you have? 1-2-3 people?

When your first game is finished then you will have learnt what worked, what didn't work, what unexpected challenges you had and you can incorporate that knowledge into your next game. Also by actually completing a project this brings in the big bucks on Patreon as then people see that you as a dev have actually completed a game so they will trust you to complete your next game and this is what really brings out the wallets on Patreon.

Now I will be very very impressed if you manage to finish this game but I am sorry, my bet is that you will cancel the project in a year or two and then just vanish into thin air, we have seen this happen a lot on projects that seem too ambitious.

I pressed all 3 of those and the message was still there, and I was still on a blank map. All they did was change my character's viewpoint.
Character creator and new game is a blank map. You ll find maps under the main menu/maps. If you want to popup the character creator panel, press F4 to switch to editor mode, than press Numpad 1 to on/off the panels

Hi.

Thank you but the money does not come from supporters. Five of us are working on it + trainees from universities and we will expand soon. Some of the tasks we outsource to external company.
Multiplayer is already under test, now on a dedicated server. The physics of the hairs, cloths and the locomotion works well in multiplayer. VR as well, but it is not ready yet. Now all we have to do is finish our animation plugin/widget/blueprint, which can be set 2 or more characters and can set and controll their anim sequences with anim blends or splines.
Many features have not been included in released alpha, cos as they are already made for the new physics /Chaos UE 4.26, alpha use UE 4.25.1/ the main project will only be transferred to Chaos physics.
We still have a lot to do, but what we promised for the basic functions of the game will be done nearly. Most of them are under optimization. One more year /or more/ before 1.0 is ready, by then they might be bug-free as well. We have time, we are not in a hurry, it already works genesis 8 morph copy also the user versions. We are pretty good at keeping our promises :)

The following build /Alpha 0.8/ already includes the initial multiplayer functions + genesis 8 morph copies / texture was already included the v0.7/, Xgen groom hairs, realistic waters and the whole project already comes with the new Chaos physics that Unreal 5 will use.
